Now (8:29 PM CST) Webster site says- 5/16/2008  7:00 p.m. Augustana  Moline, Ill. In Progress: 9-3

mr_b

The same Webster site now shows the score as 9-6.

The Webster site now shows the score as 13-6... no other details available.

The only details I have heard from the game are that Webster scored 5 in the 2nd inning.  Then it was 9-6 in the bottom of the 6th.

Hear the ball is really carrying, but 13-6 is a pretty deep hole to crawl out of in less than 3 innings.

Any idea who is pitching for Augie? Engel?

mr_b

The Webster site posts the final as Gorloks 14, Augie 13.  The Vikings apparently missed the extra point attempt.

Buster

So now what? Three 2-1 teams, right?

Yes, Linfield, Augie, and Webster.  Neither D3Baseball.com nor the Augie regional site has Saturday's matchups yet, just the start times (noon and 3.30).  I imagine Webster will meet Linfield and the winner will play Augie (the highest remaining seed).

Augie finally got the box score posted: http://www.augustana.edu/athletics/baseball/stats/2008ncaabase/08ncaa09.htm

Engle started and worked only 1.1 innings.  He was relieved by Carlson, Dencker, Pankau, Knott, and Kulig.

My mistake- Webster is 3-1.

Augie site shows-
5.17.2008 Game 10: Augustana (H) vs. Linfield (V) Swanson/Brunner 12:00 p.m.
5.17.2008 Game 11: Webster vs. Winner Game 10 Swanson/Brunner 3:30 p.m.

Tough loss for Augie.  As I thought, their bats would play the part, but the pitching just couldn't get it done.  An impressive 5-run 9th fell just short with Blakeley stranded on 3rd.

Today will be a tough match-up for the Vikings now as they have used most of their pitching.  I would expect freshman Adam Doyle to get the start.  Doyle has had a few really good outings this year mixed into a few average ones.  Depending on how their arms recover, Mike Pagano and Eric Knott might be options after their relatively short Wednesday outings.  For Linfield, however, it looks like they have a 4th regular starter which should give them a slight advantage in that regard.

The Vikings fall 10-1 to Linfield.  Pagano got the start and lasted 3.2 innings. Augie was outhit 15-5.

Linfield from the West Region comes in a steals a Regional.

Final Linfield 4, Webster 3, 10 innings.
