Finally have something positive to say about the Saints.  They are not the worst team in the GNAC.  The Saints beat Mt Ida yesterday by 4 points.  Not exactly a statement game but it was good enough to keep them out of last place in the GNAC. Mt Ida did not have a post presence and the Saints were able to take advantage of that all game long for a 68 - 64 win.  Have not seen Norwich yet this year and don't know if they are improved over last year.  If the Saints can beat Norwich, Rivier, and Mt Ida again in the second semester they will have a shot at 6 th place in the conference.

I can't link to it directly but if you really want to see the video of the dunk and the game winner, Kyle posted it on his facebook page. If it's not private I'd imagine you can view it. I was able to see it because a mutual friend shared it...

Another video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTifVH7IfD4 Some good highlights of their win over Anna Maria earlier this year. Not many teams run an alley-oop inbounds play for a 5'8 guard!

Watched the video reply of the AMC / Suffolk game.  Very entertaining game, both teams played really hard.  AMC did not take Suffolk lightly, they played hard to earn their win.  Suffolk did not play like a 20 point underdog, they were aggressive, attacking the rim, playing tough defense, did not beat themselves, forced AMC to play well in order to win the game.  A lot of good hustle plays that you would expect to see in a D-3 game.

The difference in the game was the AMC foot speed.  Both,  in transition where AMC got a lot of run out lay ups, and also in the half court sets where AMC used a quick first step to draw fouls on the Suffolk defenders. Noticed that AMC ran a different set play to score a basket out of every time out.  Very nice game plan.  Just like JWU and Rivier, Suffolk also runs a flex offense but they disguise it very well as a high post screen.  That high post screener roles to the basket, not to score but to set a baseline flex screen on the block.  The opposite big man lifts out to the arc to receive the skip pass and then they are into the flex offense.  That is a very unique way of starting the flex that I have not seen before.  I was waiting for Victor to hedge the first high post screen and not allow the Suffolk defender to turn the corner but he played behind the screener all game.  I thought that allowed the Suffolk guard to penetrate and draw some of the AMC help defenders out of position allowing the Suffolk big man to get open paths to the basket.  It will be interesting to see the adjustments both teams make the next time they play.  Good luck to both teams.

Saints lose by 21 to MIT on Tuesday night in a very boring, lackluster game.  With 13 minutes left in the first half the score was 2 - 2 .  Emmanuel scored a grand total of 21 points in each half for a final score of 42 - 63 .  At one point the Saints missed 8 consecutive shots and went scoreless for seven minutes in the second half when the game was still close.  No players in the starting lineup scored in double figures for the game. Must be time to change the starting lineup again coach!  Every time the Saints play a decent team with an above 0.500 record they look confused,  listless, and  out of sync.   They are just not a competitive team  against any one with a plus 0.500 record. Saints fall to 3 - 6 for the first semester. Starting to wonder if this new group of players have already given up on this season.  With all the lineup changes and outdated game plans it wouldn't be the first time.

Being tied with the #16 ranked team in the country on the road 7 minutes in is pretty good...too bad it was 2-2!

The Emmanuel loss to MIT on Tuesday night had special significance.  That was the Saints 99 th loss since November of 2009.  A quick 99 losses in only 5 and 1/2 seasons.  The countdown to L-100 begins on January 6 when the second semester begins.  Have any other GNAC coaches lost 100 games in less than 6 seasons?  I will leave that bit of research to fans of the other GNAC teams.  Meanwhile,  the Saints AD continues to look on impassively.  Or, maybe the AD just doesn't watch the games at all.

Anyone have any info on the New Jersey City win? Score was closer than the records indicate but hey, that's why you play the game. Perhaps the Falcons were looking ahead to the in-state show down with undefeated Western Connecticut coming up tomorrow.

Noticed Shaq Mitchell finally got in, albeit for 2 minutes. And Eian looks to finally be figuring it out with Sledge - He had 23 points, 9 assists, and 8 boards with only 3 TOs. Sledge also had 20. Big Vic was Big Vic with 16 points, 13 boards, and 8 (!) blocks.

This game is gonna be fun tonight!  Good luck to the Falcons!

Hope it's like the Askew/Brooks battles of a few years ago!

Catching the last 6 minutes of the first half - is Vic hurt or in foul trouble?  I haven't seen him on the floor yet.

Foul trouble.  As usual in CT, these officials have no business doin a game this big.

falcons2010

Foul trouble, every starter on both teams have 2 fouls.

That was an excellent game.  Really should be an annual game fans were really into it, players as well.  I'd love to see Albertus/Western again this year.  Can we replace useless Conn College with Albertus in mid January, lol.  Sat with Dave the first half and ran into Falcons at halftime nice to meet people from the boards at the game, and good luck to the Falcons rest of this year, hope to see them again in the NCAA's........with different officials that actually let the teams play though!
