Found a great video on YouTube of highlights from Big Vic's first season in the Ukrainian Super League.......It appears Vic is playing extremely well.....This really is great to see. Vic was an outstanding player for Albertus and one of the more polished "Bigs" you see at the D3 Level who could do a little bit of everything!

Hats off to him......He is a great kid as well!

Well Albertus Fans.......Its safe to say Coach Oliver got a stud here for the second half and all of next year.

Grant Ellis was about as good as you can be in your first career game coming off the bench in a new school and new offense. His range is limitless and while he didn't have a ton of opportunities to get to the rim, you can just tell that he can really put the ball on the floor and get to the rim with ease if need be.

This is a VERY VERY good player who will only help this team going forward with his experience and ability to shoot the ball. He can really shoot the ball and has a very quick release

I was a little concerned about his defense because he looked disinterested at times on that side of the floor but I think this will only get better as he gets more acclimated with the team. He picked up 4 fouls as well and I have to say 2 of them probably would have been no calls at the D1 level so this is something else that he must adjust to going forward.

yeah I peaked in for a minute, and he can knock em down. I'll agree with what you saw on the defensive end, especially when they pressed. It's a shame because he's so long. Hopefully he gets into it as the games mean more down the stretch.

Can't complain with 14 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, and 2 steals off the bench in your first game though!

Ferraro13

caught glimpses of the game, one being an Ellis three pointer with a hand in his face. Nice pick up by Oliver for sure. Any word on Pitman? Saw he only played a few minutes........Was told that Lovell was suppose to be a Falcon last year, but it didnt happen of course. Imagine if him and Ellis were on that team last year? Only reason I say that is bc they are Iona guys and Sledge was an Iona guy, so it was certainly possible.

lildave678

Also, the Big Vic highlights are incredible...makes me wish Tavon didn't block that kids shot (thus the ball falling right to the guy who hit the GW) and he just missed and it went to overtime haha

D3HoopJunkie

Yes I actually heard that about Lovell last night. He was committed to Iona but something happened with him there and then he took a year off last year completely. It certainly would have been incredible with Ellis and Lovell on last years squad but we cant dwell on the past I suppose!

As for Pittman, I think he may have said something to Coach Oliver on the bench when he was pulled. Oliver called a quick timeout and was furious with someone and it looked like it may have been Pittman. Needless to say he didnt play for the remainder of the game. I for one really hope Pittman sticks with it here and listens to Oliver because I really like what I see from him as a true freshman. I think he can really be a sensational player if he gets his head right. This is the college level now and I think some freshman may not be used to hearing things they dont necessarily want to hear or aren't accustomed to hearing from their Coach but Coach Oliver will not let things like that slide and he has never played favorites in my opinion. Next guy up mentality if you break the rules. But again I just hope he learned his lesson after last night because I really believe Oliver can turn this kid into a star.

JWU rolls to an easy 82 -54 win over the Saints tonight.  I did not expect the Saints to win this game but since they just lost to JWU by over 40 points last week I expected the defensive effort to be intense.  It wasn't.  They didn't make JWU work for anything.  The Saints players just stood around watching the Wildcats play.  JWU had 19 offensive rebounds, often right in front of of stationary Saints players.  The Saints players did not accept the challenge of playing a nationally ranked team tonight.  Greenaway and Garrick again led the way for JWU with stellar games.  Greenaway looks and plays like the GNAC player of the year.  Last week the JWU announcers were laughing out loud at all the quick threes the Saints were launching instead of running an offense.  Tonight it was the Saints announcers turn to comment.  They were being more politically correct and after a quick three ball they would only remark " maybe that shot five seconds into the possession was not the best decision at this point of the game. "  No kidding !

A quick check of the Saints roster shows one more player has left the team.  That makes 5 so far this season, one short of their yearly average.  Then again, the season is not over yet so they may hit their quota after all.

Watching the Emmanuel - Suffolk game today was like looking in the mirror.  Both teams play that wild, up and down the court style of play, shooting as soon as they get possession of the ball.  They think nothing of launching 3's after one pass in the front court.  Both teams combined to take 47 three point shots.  It is only a 40 minute game.  Saints hold on for a ten point win over a terrible Suffolk team, 68 - 58.  Both teams finish the day with identical records 4 - 14. Good thing the teams at the bottom of the GNAC conference get to play each other twice or else they might not get any wins at all.

Saint-Paul

Saints pick up their 15 th loss of the season tonight in a non conference tilt with the Wesleyan Cardinals 78 - 60.  Tilt is certainly the correct reference since this game was very much one sided in favor of the Cardinals. Whenever the Saints step out of conference and play some one other than a bottom dwelling GNAC team their defensive weakness really gets exposed.  The Saints match up zone looked like Swiss cheese, giving up one open jump shot after another.  The Cardinals scored 39 points from behind the 3 point arc with no defender anywhere in sight.  At the other end of the court the Saints were blistering the nets with a 7 for 28 performance from the three point line.  This team has no business launching 28 three point shots when they have no shooters on the court. That game plan all comes down to coaching, or lack of.  The Saints starting line up combined for 28 total points in this game.  If these guys can't score and can't defend, what are they doing in the starting line up? Coaching?

Big game tomorrow with JWU travelling to Lasell. Let's see if Lasell can hang at home.

Yes,  the live stream video of the JWU - Lasell games starts at 7:00 pm.  Certainly worth watching.

JWU have looked amazing... They are consistently beating teams by 25-30 points. They are on a mission; I wonder if they watch last year GNAC finals game everyday. They are playing hungry, together, with a laser focus toward winning the GNAC. I don't see a team beating them. They have a great coach; best player, and play wonderful team defense.
