If AMC keeps rebounding @ 50 per game & playing the razor sharp defense of their last 10 games,
this game will be over at halftime.
Momentum is a wonderful thing!
GO FALCONS!

Turnovers will be the big thing.  Rochester plays a "no mistakes" game, whereas AMC tends to be, um, a little freer with their possessions because they plan to have a lot of them.

I agree turnovers are the key for AMC to win this game. If AMC can keep their turnovers to <14,
R.U.`s conservative game plan will cost them the game. AMC rebounds better than most- 50 R.P.G.
We shall see Friday night!

Remember, Like Flokerzi, Rochester's coach, played at Grinnell - I suspect they'll play the way he thinks gives them the best chance to win.  He strikes me as the kind of guy who sees things from a unique angle.  I'll be looking forward to this one.

I remember watching Askew and Watson playing for the falcons. Two really good players; Askew was an All American; 2,000 points and rebounds. They won their first round matchup that year and were set to face Middlebury. Midd was top 10 that tear. I was so excited to play them; talk all year was about Albertus SOS. Albertus had two studs and a good supporting cast. They had lost 1 game that year. Albertus jumped out to a 9-2 lead and I was saying these guys haven't played agaisnt a team like this. Well, after a timeout then next 36 minutes was a real learning experience about team game planning. Albertus, that year, averaged over 90 points and about 20 offensive rebounds. Midd did an amazing job of forcing bad shot selections, controlled the defensive glass, and ran Albertus out of the gym. Midd won by 30 I think. I was shocked; this team out ran Albertus. It was a lay up drill for abouy 10 minutes.

So I caution my Albertus supporters. Their are really good teams and coaches who gameplan well. I don't think this team is as good as that team nor the big Vic, Eian teams. This team has been tough and they have veterans.

Let's go Falcons!

Falcons 25

2010:

"So you`re saying that we have a chance"?  It is incumbent that Mitch Oliver come up with an equally ingenious
game plan. He has been through this several times now, so my expectation is that he will have the team more
than prepared to beat Rochester University.

Does anyone know if AMC travels to Rochester Thursday or Friday? (I hope it is Thursday; that`s a 5 - hour ride!)

Well Falcon Fans here we are again. NCAA tournament bound!

This team has been incredibly resilient this season. They have dealt with so many injuries from start to finish and through it all, another GNAC Championship and NCAA tourney birth.

I love the chemistry and where this team is at right now. I think they are all in a good place mentally and they really looks like they love playing for one another and their coach. I like the fact that is sounds like most people think Albertus is a trendy upset pick but at the same time that scares me to death. Rochester appears to be a very well coached team who executes with precision and shoots the ball at a very high rate. That being said I think our Falcons are like that as well! This will no doubt be a great game. To me it actually looks like Rochester like to run the ball a little too but within the UAA I dont think they have ever really came across a team that can run the way Albertus can.

Albertus2010 - I agree with you that the Eian Davis/Big Vic era teams were our best. And I loved the Ray Askew era teams as well but that team that faced Middlebury was not as good as this seasons team. There are so many more weapons on this team compared to that team. Not to mention, that Middleburry team was OUTSTANDING. I believe his name was Ryan Sherry for Middlebury?? To this day he is still one of the most impressive players I have personally seen at the D3 level. We were simply over matched in that contest.

I am not saying that the Falcons are going to win outright tomorrow. They will have to play their tails off and be smart with the basketball. I too have faith in Coach Oliver and his ability to game plan. The Falcons are not over matched by any stretch of the imagination.

LETS GO FALCONS! As Coach Oliver always says, Lets take it one game at a time!

Hey Dave, Care to elaborate on this a little more? Specifically "NCAA stuff" I was always curious as to how this all works come tourney time? Do the teams and coaches actually meet with a rep from the NCAA who is on hand? Meetings? Details?

Just curious how this all goes down on a typical tournament weekend?

I am sure it is much more involved then what the novice fan might think?

Thanks

Saint-Paul

Just noticed that Lasell's Omanovic is a finalist for the Jostens award.  Not surprising from the way he plays the game on the court. Good Luck, hope he wins it.

The head coaches and an athletic department official (I believe, been a *long* time since I was in one of these) meet with the NCAA rep to go over timelines and such, yes.

What he said... there are team meetings and then coaching staff and support staff have one or more meetings with the NCAA rep and such. There are some items the next day as well.

A really bad half by Albertus; probably worst have since the 2nd half agaisnt Babson. It is easy to forget that this team has no tournament experience. 20 minutes is a long time; they need to make a few shots. Rochester has no experience either; make it a 2 possession game and see what happens.

Rochester not allowing Albertus in paint. Albertus had too many one and done possessions. Walters needs to in his game.

On another note where was this #13 ranked team in 2015? Lol

Falcons 25

This Albertus team was not ready for primetime! No dribble penetration at all! (other than Walters, this year, that was always an issue!)
It just never became an issue in GNAC play. (The outside shooters always covered this weakness!)
Next year, we need a point guard who can get to the rim consistently like Eian Davis. Ryan can move over to a wing, as he can shoot well.
All in All, an excellent year!  JUST ONE TERRIBLE DISAPPOINTMENT TONIGHT!
