Thanks for all the info and news on the Falcons this off season Falcons25! I am looking forward to this year! With the players we have returning on top of who is coming in this could be a very special team yet again. We lose 1 player in Ryan Pittman. Ryan was a warrior and without a doubt one of the toughest players I have ever seen under Coach Oliver and one of my overall favorite players to come through the program. A 4 year starter who deserved all the success he had but to put it bluntly, he is a guy that Oliver could replace and it appears he already has with some of the recruits that have joined the program.

I get a kick out of some of the people I have heard and things I have read down here in southern ct. All the talk is about St Joes and Jim Calhoun. And I am referring strictly to basketball talk, not the other talk that has recently drawn attention to Calhoun and the St Joes program. They have a very good team that was made up of almost all freshman last year and went on a run to the GNAC finals but everyone seems to have forgotten yet again that Albertus and Coach Oliver own the GNAC. I am not saying that we cant be beat, we certainly can, anyone can be beat, but we are the reigning champs for a reason and again return everyone except for Pittman who I mentioned above.

I'll be doing a more in depth breakdown of the Falcons soon once we get a little closer to the season. I heard via some folks on twitter that Albertus Madness took place last night and true freshman Marquan Watson threw down some incredible dunks and even leaped over the Albertus president to win the dunk contest. I have heard that this kid is going to be an absolute beast once he finds his way and also Rob Tindley who was a transfer last year that sat out the entire season due to injury is supposedly a real game changer when it comes to getting out and running the offense in transition. Great vision and handles who can really get hot and is really crafty around the rim for his size. Time will tell and it will be interesting to see who Oliver goes with to start the year at the 1. I believe the competition will come down to Tindley and transfer Isiah Lewis. Green-Younger, Perkins, Grant and Perryman will no doubt be the other 4.

This team is deep with talent and a ton of scorers coming off the bench! Cant wait for the year to start!

Where did Isaiah Lewis transfer from? All I know is he was a good player @ Hillhouse 4 years ago.
Jacqual Gertrude is a stud from Dickenson High in Jersey City- remember the name!
Too, Jon Delgado is an underrated point guard from Hudson Catholic. Voted top guard in N.J. his
junior year @ Hudson Catholic.
I was at Midnight Madness, Marquan Watson is the REAL DEAL from Waterbury. (Next great AMC player!)

Perhaps a bump in the road for the St. Joe's story, some pretty significant players apparently did not return, in particular, Chris Childs:

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

Do we know where Childs went?  He's impossible to find online because of that other basketball playing Chris Childs.

He is playing JUCO.  I'm guessing hoping to go D1? Indian Hills is a major feeder ....

I was not at the scrimmage this past Sunday but heard that Albertus played well and steam rolled Bridgewater St. Cant wait for the season to start!

Does anyone know if Hood College provides a quality broadcast? I will take anything but was just curious if they have audio play by play to go along with the video as well? Maybe Dave, Pat or Ryan can help out with this question?? First 2 games of the season....would be nice to have a good clear view with some commentary!

Falcons 25,

Lynchburg is not picked to win their conference. They were tied with Washington and Lee to come in 5th place in the ODAC. Guilford was picked to win the conference with Randolph-Macon in the 2nd spot. These were the same 2 teams that were at the top of the ODAC last year.  Here's the article from the Guilford website:

Still a good non-conference game for the Falcons as any team in the ODAC in the upper half of the conference usually helps your SOS win or lose. Last year Lynchburg was 3rd in the conference with a 20-6 record, but lost in the first round of the conference playoffs.

I'd like to know what class AMC lists Isaiah Lewis as.  4 years since graduating high school is an awfully long time.  1 year of prep + 2 years of JUCO still leaves an extra year unaccounted for.

Perhaps Falcons25 was referring to Hood College? The host school? I caught that they were picked as preseason 1st place in there respected conference. Either way, this looks like a great 2 games to start off the season with. Playing strong opponents early is always a plus IMO. Win or lose, this is a nice trip for the Falcons to take early. We will really see what we have early on in the season with these matchups.

7, I heard that we are going to have 2 years with Lewis. He is a junior. Its my understanding that he only participated in one season of JUCO basketball? I also found out that Lewis was a standout performer in the Hartford ProAm this summer. All real basketball fans from CT know how great the competition is in this event so to hear that made me really excited for what kind of player we might have on our hands for this season.

Less than a week away now!

Possibly, he had Hood in mind as you are correct, they were a preseason #1 pick in their conference.  You may not get to play them though, unless you both win or both lose. Southern Virginia, the team Hood plays on the first day of the tournament, was pretty bad last year (4-22), so I'm guessing they are fodder for the home team, allowing Hood to reach the championship game the next day. The Falcons will probably have to beat Lynchburg to get a chance to play Hood. I hope you do and win both games.

Falcons 25

So Sorry! I did have Hood in mind as #1 in their conference.
What J.C. did Lewis play at? Was it Gateway in New Haven?
The season is almost here! (be nice to have the AMC roster before Friday`s game!!!)

Thanks for that Junkie, I figure he'd be a junior, maybe sneak in a sophomore status if he only played 1 year of JUCO and than sat out 2 years with a full job, etc.  I think that's how Michael Jensen of Western Connecticut was able to play and still had eligibility even at age 23 or 24.  Anyone know if the roster is up yet??  I want to know if there's any other FCIAC/Southwestern CT kids on the roster.
