As long as a kid isnt a fulltime college student his eligibility clock stops, i played with him and Jensen was a freshman when I was a senior and then he took time off at one point. Happens every year in the LEC especially. That's how you reload instead of rebuilt. Btw past colonials like will jarrett and dewayne dickens were at least 5 years older then Jensen. Marquan watson is the real deal for AMC.

Saints finally post the new roster for this year.  Only four new freshman on the team, none of which are big men.  I thought they could have used a good big man role player to come off the bench and spell the starters in case of foul trouble.  Well, I guess the current bigs will have to log a lot of court time and stay out of foul trouble.  Let's hope the freshman guards are good 3 pt shooters.  The other GNAC coaches did not pick Saints very high in pre season poll. Maybe the Saints can surprise the conference again this year.

Good Luck Saint, it is going to be a competitive GNAC again this year w/Emmanuel right in it!
St. Joe`s of Maine is a definite contender that no one seems to be talking about. Suffolk & J & W
will be right there till the end!
I can hardly wait for tomorrow! Go Falcons!

It's Gameday People!!!

This is a great opening contest for the Falcons. Lynchburg is a very well coached team and is always competitive. This tournament in general provides the Falcons with some quality opponents early which I think will only help this team moving forward. Regarless of the outcome, these 2 games will give Coach Oliver a lot of material to work on and assess.

I believe the starting 5 will be Tindley, Perkins, Green-Younger, Grant and Big Liam! I am going with Tindley over Lewis because I can only assume that Tindley might have a slight advantage over Lewis in knowing the offense and play design being that Tindley had an entire season last year to observe and take it all in vs Lewis who only arrived on campus this summer. Again, only a hunch, we'll see ourselves in less than 11 hours now!

Major contributions off the bench will come from Isiah Lewis, Andrew Rice, Davon Warner and Terry Dawkins. I also think we'll see both Marquan Watson and Justice Washington get some time as well as they start to get a feel for the college game.

Lets hope the broadcast is well streamed and the Falcons come out soaring!!!

Also, good luck to the Saints this year Saint-Paul. I really thought they belonged hire on the preseason poll.

Since the opener is today, think the roster has been posted yet, or will you have to get a program at the game to see the roster (which true story I had to do with the Western Connecticut women one year)??  I checked I think it was Wednesday and it still wasn't updated.

AMC vs Lynchburg- Final: 87-78 Lynchburg.
I know that it is only game #1, BUT can we get a DEFENSIVE REBOUND, FALCONS!!!!!
Lynchburg had as many DEFENSIVE REBOUNDS (34) as AMC got total!!!!!
OVERALL: LYNCHBURG: 51 vs AMC: 34 (just in case you didn`t see the previous line!)

FREETHROWS: AMC : 15-28  (Mitch, when they go back to New Haven- EVERY PLAYER
NEEDS TO SHOOT AT LEAST 50 FREE THROWS PER PRACTICE)

If you want to beat the better teams, you have got to take care of the parts of the game
that decide the FINAL SCORE!

Falcons 25

Saturday Night Final: AMC crushes S.Virginia (score not important)

AMC, to a man, came out & played great defense, especially in the first half.
They won the rebound battle by one, but did a lot better on the DEFENSIVE BOARDS!!!!
Offense was spurred by a host of steals (18, I think) Too, they shot well from the floor,
in particular from 3. (STILL CAN`T SHOOT FREE THROWS!!!!)
WHERE WAS TERRY DAWKINS? (DNP BOTH GAMES)

This whole tourney was nuts.  AMC crushed SVA, which took Hood to the limit the night before, only for Hood to just kill Lynchburg, who handled AMC alright the night before.

First games of the year by AMC were a bit Up & Down! (to say the least.)
Mitch has a lot of new players that he needs to play to see what he has as
far as useful players. This was the cause for most of their play this weekend.
(no excuse for poor free throw shooting or bad defense in game #1.)
That said, this team could be a terror on defense if they set their minds to it!
(we will see a lot of steals & easy baskets this year)
NEXT GAME: Leslie College- Tuesday- 7pm @ THE NEST!

Saint-Paul

Hugh comeback win for the Saints tonight in their season opener at Dean College, 99 - 95. Saints ran into a buzz saw tonight. Dean came out hitting three after three to jump on the Saints 37 - 15 before the game was 10 minutes old. Saints defense was not that bad but the Dean shooters were hitting from two feet behind the arc, with a defender right in front of them. Saints maintained their composure and started chipping away with good possessions, good ball movement, and timely rebounding. Saints took their first lead of the game with 2 minutes to play and held on for a stunning upset.  Dean players were shaking their heads in disbelief after the game. Dean finished with 19 made threes.  Saints had several players in double figures and really shared the ball like an experienced, veteran team.

WPI89

Odd for Eastern and WPI to meet in consolation game. But good bounce back win for the Engineers today. Nichols v NEC a strong early non NEWMAC non NESCAC game.

Without Carlos Gonzales, the offensive fluidity of last year, was lacking this weekend.  3pt% was horrible vs Nichols and WPI and defense leaves a lot to be desired. Still no dominant post player!  Geitner et al has their work cut out for them this year.  Still early though!

Falcons 25

Albertus Magnus "player development":

Justice Washington- a legit post player offensively- nice low post moves & aggressive! Time will tell if his fine play
continues against : Keene state, Williams, etc.

Isaiah Lewis- smooth guard with the right inclination to penetrate when possible, but can "stick" the J too!

Terry Dawkins- 6-4, 220 lb. "force" to be reckoned with, especially in the GNAC.

Rob Tindley- starting point guard- lightning quick on both sides of the ball & will cement his hold on this position.

Time will tell, but this team is only going to get better

NEXT UP: @ KEENE STATE TUESDAY!

Saint-Paul

Another big come from behind win for the Saints on the road over a tough Westfield State team, 77 - 68.  Westfield started the game with a lot of energy on defense and held the Saints scoreless for the first 3:30 seconds of the first half.  Saints didn't panic, and after a time out came out and started to claw their way back into the game.  Saints again used good ball movement, good shot selection, and timely rebounding to stay close until they took their final lead late in the second half.  Cannot overstate the obvious, Saints have no star players, they just move the ball very well, get everybody involved, and take good shots, and go after loose balls and loose rebounds like they are important. This is very impressive because the Saints lost their best shooters and best defender / rebounder to graduation last year.  I thought the Saints would be lacking in those categories this year but they are not.  They just plugged in last year's subs into this years line up and they are doing a good job. Keep it up.

D3HoopJunkie

Huge game for this Falcons team tomorrow night. They need to go on the road on a weeknight and prove that they can beat a quality opponent in Keene State. There is no reason why the energy level shouldn't be extremely high right out of the gate for this one. I think the Falcons have looked great this year but they have had stretches where they come out slow in games like this on the road over the past few seasons. Come out, show up and play hard for 40 minutes. It all starts on the defense. If this team plays with the defensive intensity that they're capable of, they will be very hard to beat this year.

Let's go Falcons! Bring it tomorrow night!
