Message for Pat or Dave.. Please ask someone at Albertus for video from the Johnson and Wales game on December 4, 2014. A buzzer beating 3 pointer to win the game and maybe the most Athletic Dunk, I have seen in person at the 26 second mark in the second half.

Saint-Paul

After watching St Joe lose by 20 points to S Maine on Sunday I thought for a brief moment that the Saints might really have a chance to beat the Monks on Thursday night.  My Bad ! St Joe starts one forward and four guards, has no post presence, does not control rebounds, no exceptional foot speed or athletic ability, and yet they controlled this game from start to finish. The difference in this game was clearly the coaching.  St Joe was disciplined, patient, and unselfish, moved the ball until they found and open man and then finished the play by making open shots.  St Joe jumped on the Saints  10  - 0 to start the game and never looked back leaving Boston with a sweet 73 - 69 victory over the Saints.  St Joe scored the first five times they touched the ball, shot 60% for the game, 53% behind the 3 point line, had 20 assists on 27 FGs and held the Saints to 23 points in the first half.  The Saints had the advantage with two big post players who controlled the paint, quick, athletic guards, who were able to get down court in transition, and lost another winnable game at home in front of their fans.  I really enjoy watching basketball the way St Joe plays the game.  They are fun to watch.

Different Subject :  I saw the AMC / JWU box score.  wow, must have been an exciting game.  I know that JWU starts a forward and four guards, so it must have been a very fast paced game with a lot of transition baskets.  No shot clock violations in that game !  Also saw that Suffolk and Lasell post big conference wins.  GNAC games are just starting to heat up.

Hey guys,

Where do I begin? What a great game last night! The best two teams in the GNAC went blow for blow all night. It was a great test for both teams; I think they are far and away better than any other GNAC team this year.

It was a shame that Greenway got into foul trouble, only played 8 minutes in the second half. Greenway is one of the best players in the region. He is very skilled offensively and plays excellent defense. Some of the fouls were questionable. He also added about 15 pounds of muscle, which should make him a more complete player; finishing around the basket. JWU has some new faces, and they were impressive. JWU is long and quick, and can rebound. They played excellent help defense and took care of the ball. I was so impressed by their composure. When Sledge dunked it and then hit the free throw, Albertus was up 4 and the crowd was going crazy!!! There was less than a minute left. JWU, came down and knocked a 3 down. This JWU team is tough. Robert Lewis can play for me any day of the week. I can't wait to see the rematch later this winter.

As for Albertus, They got the ball deep to Vic and Larsen all game long. However, JWU had a great defensive game plan and forced a lot of TOs. Larsen had an off game, but made a great pass late in the game to cutting Davis. There were moments where I thought, Albertus would run away with the game, but then they had sloppy offensive possessions and played horrible defense. There were three consecutive possessions where 4 falcons were running down court before a rebound was secured. Leaving Vic at a 1 on 3 disadvantage. But give a lot of credit to Julian Sanders and Kyle Wiggins. They came off the bench in the first half and played solid defense and hit big shots.

There was also a short bench tonight for Oliver. I expect to see a short rotation against the better teams in the region. There is no replacement for Vic, who had a highlight reel dunk as well. If he stays on the court, Albertus is a different team. Only 13 TOs last night and they played solid offense for 28 minutes. If they can continue to improve, they will be really hard to beat in March.

Finally, I looked at the box score. The scorer's table made a crucial mistake! They gave JWU two points. The score was 51-45 after Vic made a lay-up. Albertus gave up back to back easy lay ups. Oliver was so mad at Marcus Walker that he called a time-out. Two lay-ups equal 4 points. The score should have been 51-49 Albertus with 18:15 on the clock. It read 51-51. Walker came out of the game and Larsen in the game. After the time-out, Albertus ran an offensive set and Davis hit a jumper with his foot on the line. I know his foot was on the line, because the JWU fan behind me screamed to the official "His foot is on the line"! That put Albertus up 53-51; but it should have been 53-49. Here is a link to the play by play. 2nd half 18:15. Answer me these two questions: 1. how can a substitution be made without a dead ball? 2. I know Eian Davis is fast, but how did he hit jump shot in 3 seconds after a Lawson lay-up? He could maybe make a lay-up, but no way Davis is streaking down court in 3 seconds and pulling up for a jumper.

Yeah I only caught the end (thank God) and a couple of minutes early-to-mid 2nd half. I had to turn my attention to something else when it was 64-61 JWU without about 12 minutes left in the half I think...but the possessions before that it seemed like AMC was racing up the floor and jacking up the first 3, or the guy who brought the ball up court went to the hole with reckless abandon for a contested layup. Obviously Albertus doesn't have the score on the screen so when there was a TO and I saw 64-61 JWU I was dumbfounded...I know we want to play quick but sheesh, slow it down, have a good offensive possession or 2 and take control back. Run when it's there, not run ALL THE TIME especially with a team that probably will do as good a job as any keeping up with the pace.

Just got word there is a great video out there with the dunk and game winner all together. Someone supposedly caught it all perfectly on there phone. Hopefully I can track where it came from down. It's got to go on YouTube!!

Albertus Twitter just posted what is supposed to be the buzzer beater, but it keeps giving me an error.

Watched Albertus at Suffolk online yesterday.  A few thoughts...

Sledge did not start, Wiggins did.  Any idea why?
Sledge scored whenever he wanted to once he got in, Big Vic had trouble though.  Suffolk's post scored on him almost at will.
There was a "brawl" with about 7 to go.  Not sure who from AMC got T'd, but Suffolk's coach and a player were ejected.  Pretty messy.  Also, a lot of AMC guys on the court, not sure about the rules about leaving the bench.
Biggest difference in the game - AMC went to the line 46 times (and made 36).  Suffolk only got there 26 times (making 22).
Suffolk is much improved - probably a top 4 team in the GNAC, so all in all a good win for Albertus on the road.
