Saint, I waited for you to post your recap because I knew yours would be much more descriptive and accurate. +K to you.

I watched the game online and the entire time I thought to myself I can't believe this Coach is trying to run with Albertus. Just a terrible job of game planning and unfortunately it put this young inexperienced struggling team in no position to win the game. You hit it head on Saint.

Albertus looked good, they were flying all over the court as usual and playing pretty good defense. The ball pressure that Sledge and Eian apply is outstanding and really took a toll on the Emmanuel guards.

Turnovers are still an issue early in games, they always buckle down in the 2nd half but I'm afraid when we face the upper echelon of teams this could be a huge factor. We gotta tighten it up Falcons!!!

Also, we got out rebounded last night. Another negative but there were a number of long rebounds that we just couldn't get our hands on and again sometimes we don't secure the ball completely. We are so worried about getting out and running and gunning that we give up a lot of loose ones.

Overall I was still very pleased with the entire effort. This team is filled with fighters and you can tell that they are just different then teams in years past. This team can truly be special and get us to the top.

Lasell at home on Saturday.......the nation's longest home winning streak takes the court again!!! I saw some tweets and other things on Sportcenter with the Duke streak being snapped the other night and couldn't help but think to myself.....these people are wrong!!!! The longest in the country belongs to the Falcons and it's still going!!! I was going to write to ESPN but I figured it would most likely fall on deaf ears.

ESPN could give a rats ass about college basketball if you aren't in one of the top 5 "BCS Conferences."  Even Gonzaga (now #3 in the country I believe) and Wichita State (top 15 in the country) hardly get any press because they play outside a BCS conference and God-forbid a division 3 team get any mention at all.

I think the Amherst women earlier this year won like their 100th straight home game or some ridiculous number like that and got some mention in the last 30 seconds of Sportscenter....I think mainly because the streak they broke was UConn's NCAA record.

57-31 Albertus over Riv at the half

Anna Maria is up 15 at St. joe's at the half.

falcons2010

Anna maria gets a big win on the road against St. Joes.

Saint-Paul

Not surprised by the Anna Maria win at St Joe.  Saw AM beat the Saints last week by 17 and thought that they would match up well with St Joe, starting a very athletic forward and four guards that can shoot the ball.  AM plays a similar style to St Joe, moving the ball and looking for open shots, only running for opportunity baskets.  It looks like the Amcats beat St Joe at its own game by knocking down 14 three balls.  That is impressive shooting, especially on the road.  It pays to recruit shooters. Nice road win for Anna Maria over a good team.

Another really bad loss for the Saints, this time to Norwich 71 - 66, who had only 1 GNAC win before this game.  Emmanuel ran out to a big lead, 20 to 7, after the first 7 minutes of this game and then watched the lead slip away going from up 13 to down 9, a 22 point swing, in a short period of time.  Norwich had nobody who could guard the Saints big man.  The Emmanuel center finished with 29 points, 21 rebounds, and took 12 free throws, and the Saints still lost this game.  All the Saints were interested in was running down court and getting a shot off,  not paying any attention to the defensive end of the court, giving up 63% shooting to Norwich in the second half.    Loss 103 and counting.

Saints coach used another new starting line up again.  That is 11 times in 14 games this year.  This time he changed 3 of the starting positions.  No wonder the Saints have no team chemistry on the court the way the players constantly get jerked in and out of the rotation.

Albertus only up 9, 34-25 at the half against the Riv. The ol' MLK Matinee must not be enough to get the Falcons fired up lol. I imagine Mitch won't be pleasant in the locker room.

Ferraro13

Well I guess they got the message at half lol 87-53 Albertus

Saint-Paul

Well, nothing new about the Emmanuel loss to JWU,  74 to 48.  The Emmanuel coach did indeed use another new starting line up, the 12 th in 15 games.  Two of the new starters did not score a single point, zero, in the entire game.  I hope the JWU coach sent him a thank you card.  I guess everybody on the Saints team is going to get their chance to start a game this year.  At least that will keep them from noticing their won / loss record.  The Saints had a brand new player in uniform for this game that was not on the team last week, and he played 6 minutes of the this game.  I guess the Emmanuel coach is drafting players from the intramural squads now.  The new kid will probably be in the starting line up next week.  Loss 104 and counting.
Greenaway was sensational, 26 points, 21 rebounds,  7 assists,  15 free throws.  He out rebounded the entire Emmanuel starting five.    Garrick also had a nice game for the Wildcats, 16 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals.  JWU was up 20 to 9 at the 10 minute mark, 30 to 14 at the 5 minute mark, 39 to 20 at halftime and cruised to an easy 26 point win.  The Saints shot 32% from the field, and went 0 - 9 from behind the arc.  The Saints big man scored the first five points of the game and then didn't get another touch until the last minute of the first half.  That is just not good team chemistry by the other players on the team.  No point in even discussing the Saints game plan of trying to run up and down the floor with this very athletic JWU team.  That subject is old news, nothing there is going to change.  The Saints opened the game in a 1 - 2 - 2 full court press and promptly went down by 11 points before the first time out could be called.  The Saints offense looked really dysfunctional in this game as is the case any time they play a team with an above 0.500 record.

I am expecting a tough game for the Falcons this Saturday as they hit the road to take on St. Joes in Standish Maine for a 2PM contest. Thankfully they have a fairly decent broadcast so watching the game isn't all that painful. I guess if you compare it to Albertus broadcasts it looks like HD anyways.

I expected the Monks to play us hard in New Haven earlier in the season but that was just not the case. Sure they went on a few runs and they move the ball and run their offense very efficiently but overall the talent and athleticism and scheming of Albertus clearly was the difference. But as we all know in Maine this game can clearly go either way. The Monks handed the Falcons their worse loss of the season last year at home. Playing a team that shoots the 3 ball at a high rate in their own gym is always a challenge not to mention having the home crowd advantage and unfortunately referee advantage as well. The state of Maine may have some of the worst officiating I have ever seen at the college D3 level and I now I am not the only one who feels this way.....cough cough 7Express  ;D

In the end I think the Falcons prevail but it will not come easy.

Saint-Paul

Two big wins last week by Anna Maria over St Joe and Lasell,  and six straight GNAC wins.  The Amcats are starting to show some separation from the rest of the teams at the bottom of the conference.  Home wins over Lasell and Norwich and road wins over Emmanuel and St Joe certainly put the Amcats in position to secure third place for the conference play offs.   That will give them some incentive for their upcoming games with JWU and AMC.  Winning streaks usually do that.  I would not be surprised if their upcoming games with JWU and AMC are more competitive than expected.  Good games to watch on live stream.

It is all about how you are playing near the end of the year. Anna Maria seems to be playing their best basketball! Let's not forget, Anna Maria was in back to back GNAC championship games. They are never very deep, but they do a good job with the talent they have. I will be watching the JWU/Anna Maria game very closely.

On a side note, I should have been a NFL official.

Does St. Joes still have the ridiculous $9.99 fee to watch the game on-line, or did they drop that this year??

Saint-Paul

Tried to watch the St Joe game tonight but they wanted my credit card first.  NO WAY.  So I enjoyed watching the Anna Maria / Rivier game.  Anna Maria was up 14 to 17 points most of the game and won easily. AM is an interesting team.  They are not super quick, not super athletic, not dominating in the post but they know how to win.  They will pass the ball 5, 6, 7, times in one possession just to get the shot that they want, which is either a layup or an open 3 pointer.  They really move the ball and are patient with their possessions.  They don't appear to care who scores but just keep looking for the open man.  I enjoy watching basketball played that way.  They don't have a " pure " shooter but they can make open shots when left unguarded.  I don't think they have the foot speed or the size to pull off an upset over AMC or JWU but they will make it interesting.
Rivier is just short on talent, even though they play hard.  While watching this game I kept thinking how could Emmanuel lose to Rivier back in December?  I still don't know.
