Dave, indefinite suspension. That's what I was told. So a possibility of a return.

Is that a typo that Albertus got 2 1st place votes? Lol and went down a spot!

They did get two first place votes... gained a couple of points... but because of the chaos in the rest of the poll (like UWSP jumping), they fell a spot. Which goes to prove: looking at just how a team is ranked and changing of those rankings doesn't tell the whole story. Points and how everyone else in the poll moves (while gaining and losing points) is also key.

No I understand that part, just in a vacuum it's crazy to think we get our first first place votes and we move down! Lol

Always dangerous to be in a vacuum! LOL

Perhaps the breadth of conversation about the loss of players on this board made a difference to some of the voters.  The coaches play it off, but lots of them read these things religiously.

Dave (Mchugh), I have to ask!!! And I hate talking in retrospect but if Albertus had beaten Richard Stockton in the beginning of the season which would have made them undefeated at this point, where would you have them ranked in your Top 25 this week??

Kind of similar to the Marietta situation no?? A sub par SOS but if they had beaten Mount Union and John Carroll this week they would have most certainly been #1 overall. I think the same could be said for Albertus IF they had been undefeated at this point.

First off, Marietta's SOS is above .500 (.512) where as AMC's is .475 - that's a bigger spread than the two-games to .030 comparison, so not exactly apples to apples.

As for beating Richard Stockton... I would probably have them on the lower half of my Top 10... but that would have also added a loss to a Stockton team I think is overrated with an gaudy SOS (.581 and falling). Sure, undefeated... but put it this way: if Marietta had survived the week with everyone else losing... it isn't cut and dry I would have given them my number one vote. And look at St. Norbert who I have stated I think is hit their ceiling (maybe above it) (SOS - .498) - but MWC is a better conference than the GNAC and SNC has won 41 straight in conference.

Thanks Dave, just wanted your take!

I think I confused Marietta's SOS numbers when I looked them up with another school in their region. That's on me.

In terms of them being #1 if they hadn't lost those 2 games this past week I was referring to the entire D3 poll not just where you would have them but again I should have specified.

They would have been #1 overall in the grand scheme of the poll this week if they hadn't lost....No?

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

I was referring to #1 in the D3hoops poll... not sure if they would have been. I suspect they probably could have garnered the most amount of votes considering they would have been the last undefeated team... but I don't think they would have gotten all 25. Like I said... I don't know if I would have voted for them.

That being said, they would have beaten Mount Union and John Carroll showing they are just that good beating those teams twice this season. That may have swayed me to give them my number one vote.

Different team when albertus played them. They've lost players since. So not sure overrated is the correct term

Ferraro13

Richard Stockton that is

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

I am aware of who Stockton was and is... I have seen them in person and they did lost their point guard... but I wasn't sold on them before they lost their PG... but to be honest, we are talking about one game against one team on the entire schedule... that says something.
