Good luck to Johnson and Wales! (Ouchhhhhh that hurt)

But honestly lets hope they represent the GNAC conference well and maybe pull off a few wins.......I think they are capable of doing so.

Greenaway and Garrick have certainly earned this moment and I think there team defense and on ball pressure will be the difference in there games if they are able to go on a run.

What happened to the last 35 secomds of the JWU game?  The stupid live stream went off the air with the score tied at 73.  doesn't any video intern monitor these broadcasts?

For some reason the particular site that runs a bunch of the northeastern teams' video stream always seems to go black on me. Maybe it's a different issue but I also had issues. I just saw that the score was 75-73 J&W and the game was over.

I just hit play and it started right back up again.

Go GNAC; JWU wins vs trinity. The GNAC has now won first round games 6 out of the last 7 years. Maybe that can earn the conference a little more respect.

JWU looked better today than they did against Trinity.  they shot the ball better, they rebounded better, and they made their lay ups and free throws.  If they keep playing this way they could be a final four team.

falcons2010

They looked good; they clearly were the better team. Now they play tufts who has been without one of their best players for a few games. Jwu has confidence... Keep it going!

Congratulations to the Wildcats for winning the weekend here in Plattsburgh. I was hoping my Cardinals would be the ones advancing to the Sweet 16 but the loss of one of our stars prior to the weekend hurt us and we didn't play well against Fitchburg State. There were 4 quality teams that took the court this weekend and Johnson and Wales walked off with the prize.

This team is more than Quarry Greenaway and Tom Garrick but if you're going to have a 1-2 punch those are great guys to have. Entirely possible they could win another pair next weekend.

Thanks for the kind words magicman

Unfortunately there are no Johnson and Wales representatives on this board as it is dominated by mostly Albertus supporters (including myself) with an Emmanuel fan trickled in the mix (Saint Paul)

I think the Wildcats have a good chance of making the Elite 8 but I am a bit hesitant still to pick them right now because I really feel that they can be exposed a bit on the low post against Tufts. I have said it in the past and I will say it again about JWU, the lack of an interior presences on both offense and defense was going to hurt this team in the tournament and I have a feeling that this may finally be the opponent who can hurt them in this area.

Trinity had a few strong bigs for sure but they didnt get a ton of touches inside during that game which from a Trinity standpoint I thought that was a coaching mistake. When Trinity did get the ball on the low post they converted quite easily on a number of different baskets and looks. Fitchburg St did not really present an interior challenge at all. Kwame Lee is 6'9 but he doesn't play like a guy who is that size.......not to mention there entire offense was run through there guard play.

I feel that Tufts will have them scouted pretty well and try and expose this a little bit. Coach Sheldon has been doing this for a long time so I expect that they will have a game plan strategy to establish the low post early

Was just kinda snooping around for some info on the JWU/Tufts game tonight and came across this story on JWU's Michael Kiser. Pretty cool stuff...

Enjoyed watching JWU play against some non GNAC opponents in the NCAA tournament.  They played hard against Tufts but did not always make the best decisions with the ball.  JWU was quicker and had better foot speed  than Tufts but they did not move the ball very well.  JWU only had 6 assists for 39 field goals.  That is too much one on one for an important game.  Tufts moved the ball better and got easier shots.  Open shots on their home court gave them a big advantage.  Would have liked to see JWU make just one or two more passes on each possession to get a few better looks.  Overall a great season for JWU and a nice tribute to their seniors.

Great season for JWU... Those seniors had a great run.. You are right Junkie; tufts executed very well; reminded me of Virginia. Played excellent team defense and ran their offense to perfection. Good luck to Tufts tonight.

I've been able to get out and attend some of the state championships games going on right now in CT and I must say there is a ton of really talented players in this state. I saw quite a few players that I would consider legit prospects for D1, D2 and more than enough who could have really respectable D3 careers. I am sure Coach Oliver and all coaches for that matter are hitting the recruiting trail hard and preparation for next season and possibly the years to come. The CT State Finals are at the Mohegan Sun Arena this weekend. While I would love to attend I am not quite sure if that is the safest and healthiest trip for me personally  :D.....Basketball and Gambling. I'm afraid I may not ever come home  ;D ;D

Watching JWU go deep into the NCAA tournament against non GNAC teams inspired me to see how the Saints have done when competing against teams outside the GNAC conference.  In the last seven years the Saints have played outside their conference 48 times posting a record of 7 - 41.  That is exactly seven more wins than I expected to see.  I didn't think they could beat anyone except the bottom of the GNAC.  Unfortunately none of those seven wins came against above 0.500 teams, so I guess that is really like playing against the bottom of the GNAC.  An NCAA at large bid is probably not in the Saints near future so there is no need to pump up their non conference schedule. Averaging one non conference win a year is just fine.

Hats off to Quarry Greenaway who was named a D3Hoops.com 3rd Team All-American the other day. Very deserving of the honor and a nice topper to an outstanding career.

Between the last few seasons with Albertus and this season's team with JWU, say what you want about the bottom half of the GNAC but the team that goes on and advances to the NCAA tournament has represented the GNAC proudly and have combined to beat some very good teams and well established programs. Again we all know the GNAC overall is weak but I have no doubt that this conference because of how competitive and physical the in-conference games are amongst GNAC opponents that it prepares the conference winner for post season play more so then maybe other conferences.

Waiting on the D3Hoop.com all region teams as I suspect Shontaey Lovell will most likely be named the New England rookie of the year. I took a brief look around at some other programs and conferences within NE and while there were certainly a number of very good freshman within the region, if you look at Lovells entire body of work and the way he fills the stat sheet, I think you would be hard pressed to find another freshman contributing as much as he did this year for a young Albertus team that far exceeded expectations this season.

This team is going to make some serious noise next year and I can't wait to see how this young group improves and what Coach Oliver will bring in terms of recruitment. He tends to find 1 or 2 gems a year that make you scratch your head and say "how the heck is this kid at the D3 level in New Haven CT at a school with an enrollment of less than 1000 students"......I don't think enough has been said about what Coach Oliver has done here at this school and the 360 degree turnaround that this program has made under his leadership. It truly is extraordinary. I really wish the school and athletics department in terms of funding and overall support would get behind this program more. If you drive around CT you see Albertus billboards and advertising, you hear people talking about the basketball program.......honestly none of this advertising or excitement ever occurred before Oliver got here. Coincidence??? I think not!!
