Wowwwww!!!

Mason Jones ladies and gentleman. This young man just threw down the best dunk I have ever seen at the Nest and one of the best dunks I have seen at the D3 level. The rumors were 100% accurate haha. Small sample size but so far he is one of the best athletes I have seen at Albertus. And that truly is saying a lot.

I hope 7Express took our advice and scooped this kid up. Unbeleivable player who not only can get to the basket at will but he also has drained two 3 pointers already

Albertus is up 56 to 41 at the half

Shhh!!!!!!!  They are only playing 1 game after Saturday before New Years, so wasn't picking him up now, but was going to get I'm when the new year started.  Please don't ruin his secret potential for me Junkie, thanks!

D3HoopJunkie

Sorry 7 hahaha.......I don't want to spoil him for you. Hopefully nobody else scoops him up! If so he has all of next year to for eligibility too!

Good to see Jones.. now let's get Ellis back. I would like to see them after 10 games together.

Impressive dunk by Jones. I wasn't at nest last night. But best dunk I saw was Sledge jumping over a guard.. it might have been versus JWU.. it was incredible.

That Sledge dunk was in fact against Johnson and Wales. He soared over Rob Lewis I beleive. That was an outstanding dunk no doubt but this one by Jones had so much flare and showed off show much athleticism between the extension and everything else. It was sensational. Even better in person!

Suffolk comes to town today. I think this game will be pretty competitive. Suffolk has always been a program that plays us strong. Being at home, Jones and the rest of the team are slowly beginning to gel more and more. I like the Falcons in this one 87-71 with the Falcons pulling away late in the second half.

Saints are off until a New Years tournament.  Saints played 7 games in the first semester, lost 6, got blown out 5 times, gave up over 89 points 4 times. Their lone win came against 0 - 25 Curry College, and Curry was winning that game for 39 minutes, and 58 seconds. It took a miracle shot from 30 feet in the last 2 seconds to save the Saints from losing to a team that didn't win a game last year.  What to look forward to in the New year ?  At least 4 competitive games with Norwich and Rivier ?

I know most of us said second semester for Grant Ellis but traveling to his home state on Saturday. I say he suites up and plays. Time will tell!

Working on getting the name of the new PF/C that we will have for the second half of the season. As I have mentioned already on here rumor has it that he is 6'10 with freakish athletic ability. Not as polished of an offensive player as Big Vic was but a defensive game changer who still has enough offensive skill to put up double double numbers nightly at the D3 level.

falcons2010

Fall semester is now over for the falcons. I give them a C grade; mostly because I haven't seen the team at 100% yet. I like what I have seen from coleman, green-younger, and shaq Mitchell so far. I think Grant will develop into a really fine player. He needs to hit the weight room and be mor aggressive around the goal. I expected to see pittman more developed; but he hasn't yet. He is still making freshmen mistakes. He has ability, he just needs to run the offense more confidently. You know what you get from walters, you can live with some of his wild shots because he plays hard and can score.

I haven't been super impressed with Jones, but I am chalking that up to his injury. He has not shot the ball well the last few games. I really think there was something else going on with Ellis, hopefully he is back after the break. Does anyone know what happened to Green-Younger? Hasn't played last 2 games.

If Ellis and Jones play to what we believe they can. And if Mitch brings in a mid year stud. And coleman, green-younger, and mitchell play at their levels. And walters plays to his numbers. Then the Falcons should be playing in GNAC championship game. Let's see what happens.. Either way, we will be along for the ride.   Merry Christmas

Falcons2010,

I completely agree with your assessment on the first half of the season. I am hopeful that this team and specifically Ellis and Jones will be able to come together in the second half after a first half riddled with injuries and relying a lot on youth to get us through games.

Jones has not played well at all since his debut. I think you are correct; the injury is a big factor in this. I also think that he needs to take a second and reflect on his role. He should be the primary go to guy no doubt, but he still needs to play within the offense and get his teammates involved. He needs to share the ball and be more proactive in getting others to contribute. Within Oliver's offense sets he is going to have plenty of opportunities to score the ball. He is pressing a little right now when really he doesn't need to. He seems like a high IQ player. I think he will improve on this.

I also think Oliver is really going to get a feel once everyone is healthy for what he has here this year. So far, it has been hard for him to see what rotations work best and which guys gel most out on the court together. I think we will see from Oliver's standpoint a better understanding of the true makeup of this team in the second half. You look at guys like Eian Davis and Big Vic, what we have to remember is that these two stars transferred in from the same program and were already so used to playing with each other. This is simply not the case with this year's team. A ton of talent no doubt with plenty of scorers but can they play together and beat experienced teams is the real question we will have to find out going forward.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all

Emmanuel takes their traveling basketball circus south to the mid atlantic region for a New Years tournament at Mary Washington University in Virginia.  I am sure that the mid atlantic teams have never seen anything like the show the Saints are going to put on.  The Saints wild, " shoot first, run plays later ", up and down tempo is going to take these tournament teams by surprise.  MWU probably runs a very deliberate, patterned offense, and could get flustered when the Saints start turning the game into a saturday morning ymca pick up game. Should be fun to watch how these mid atlantic teams respond to the Saints style of play. Probably with a lot of wide open three's.
