Disappointing loss on Saturday for the Falcons up at St. Joes Maine. As I mentioned in an earlier post, that has always been a tough place for the Falcons to go on the road and win at. But overall they are still in a good position right now in the conference standings.

Also, seniors Devin Coleman and Shaq Mitchell as well as freshman Damian Grant did not play. I think if the 3 of them play we probably come out on top in this game.

I dont know why they didnt play but I know there is a stomach bug going around. Lets hope thats all it was!

Junkie, you are right. Always a tough place to play and always a well prepared team. Most year, if you say Albertus scored 90, it's an automatic ein. I think missing Coleman, Mitchell and Grant hurt them defensively. I feel as if this team still hasn't gelled; mostly because of inconsistency with line up and rotation. I am hoping they put it together as we get into February.

J&W coming in next. Falcons looking to avenge lost in Providence.

Saints, congrats on the win.

I couldn't agree more Falcons2010. Although other than Damien Grant, Coleman and Mitchell aren't exactly known for their defense. Both guys being double digit scorers in a 5 point differential  game, you have to think that the Falcons would have had a stronger shot at pulling that game off. Grant Ellis absolutely lit the nets on fire in the 1st half with 25 point and finished the game with 39! This was due to the fact that there was no Coleman and Mitchell. He simply had to do too much and even though JQ Walters was an assist away from a triple double, believe it or not he did not have one of his better games from a FG% standpoint.

I agree this team hasn't really had a chance to gel. I thought they were getting better dating even back to last week but a few guys missed time again and it was back to square one. Between injuries and guys missing time for various other reasons it has certainly been a tough year for Oliver to manage his rotations but overall we are still in 1st place and still without a doubt the team to beat in the GNAC. Home court advantage is so important in the GNAC tournament. Let hope the Falcons finish off the regular season strong and secure the #1 seed. If this happens I think our road to the NCAA tournament becomes drastically easier.

JWU comes in to town tomorrow night. Earlier in the year we lost a close game in overtime at the Wildcat Center. On that day we had no Grant Ellis plus the team was really just getting a feel for each other at the time. I think we make a bounce back statement tomorrow night after the tough setback on Saturday. Falcons win this game by 12 points. And I am also predicting that this will be the debut game for Aaron Fox. I found out that this was the kid that we thought was the "JUCO" player. It is my understanding that he was committed to going the JUCO route after high school but never actually followed through with it. So thankfully we get 4 year of eligibility from him. I have heard unbelievable things about his game. And again tomorrow night we will hopefully see what he is made of!

So I was able to add Mason Jones to my fantasy team as he was still on the waiver wire when I scooped him up.  Hopefully he doesn't disappoint, but usually when I draft someone they turn to crap, so apologies in advance!  ;D

I'm a prophet!  Whatever happened to him anyways, hasn't appeared in a boxscore in a while I don't think??  Injured again, or did he get removed from the team??

HAHAHA.....I forgot all about this 7

Mason Jones re-injured his wrist that was broken in the preseason and Coach Oliver decided to sit him for the year. To much of a risk to try and rush him back. So unfortunately we will not be seeing Mason Jones again until next season!!!

How does the fanstasy league scoring work for you guys 7??

Does it go by categories? If so Jaquan Walters would be an excellent pickup. He is a lock for a double double almost every night and he gets assists as well. He was 1 assist shy of a triple double the other night! From a pure scoring standpoint Grant Ellis would be a nice pick up too.

And if you need an interior player I will let you know after tomorrow night how Aaron Fox looks. It will be his first game and expectations are extremely high for him!

I don't know the exact formula.  It's something like total points + total rebounds + total assists + total steals + total blocks + made 3 pointers - free throws - turnovers.

I have BOTH Ellis & Walters on my team Junkie.  I picked up Ellis when I saw Jones wasn't playing, so I dumped Jones for Ellis, and I picked Walters up after the Christmas holiday when someone in the league dropped him.  Only problem is you can only use the guys 1 game per week, so last week I used Ellis for AMC's first game of the week (vs. like Rivier or someone like that).  Wasn't terrible, think he had like 16 points + 10 rebounds, so I missed his 39 point outburst against St. Joes.....however I did use Walters for that game though.

I may pick up Fox for my 2nd team though, I'll see how he does this week, and see if I want to use him next week.

I completely agree junkie.. home court is so big in GNAC. I think tomorrow's game will be big; hopefullfalcons are back at full strength. They really need the team together for 5 or 6 games. Let the team find itself.

Be eager to see Fox play.

What a game for Fox to debut in as well!! Being a "freshman" he doesn't really know himself how huge this rivalry is between Albertus and JWU but I am sure (and I hope) that guys like JQ Walters, Grant Ellis, Erik Langston and some of the other veterans will let him know.

As I am typing this I just keep saying to myself "I really hope he plays tonight" because again we are all speculating here really!

Outstanding win by the Falcons last night! They crushed JWU 87-63 and certainly put the rest of the league on notice.

JQ Walters had a HUGE game with 25 points and 16 rebounds. He is without question my favorite player on this team. Such a nice kid and really plays the game hard. Grant Ellis dropped 22 as well and looked unstoppable in the first half. At one point he made a 3 pointer and as soon as he released it he looked at the crowd before it even went in the basket. Defensively the Falcons stepped up as well. They completely shut JWU down and did an excellent job of rebounding the basketball which has been a struggle of late for the Falcons.

Anthony Jernigan is an outstanding player for JWU. His handles are so tight and he is so quick. He is fun to watch but he also isn't a guy who can completely take over a game by himself and this JWU team around him just isn't deep enough to overcome the early onslaught that the Falcons applied.

Still no Aaron Fox! I really thought he was going to play last night! Maybe on Saturday we will see his much anticipated debut!

Speaking of Saturday.......This is going to be the biggest game of the year for the Falcons. If they can pull it off on the road at Lasell then I think the Falcons wrap up the #1 seed for the GNAC tourney which as we have mentioned before is so important for this team.  With all due respect to Mt Ida because I know we still play them twice and they have had a very solid season, I just don't see our boys losing to them. Plus the momentum this team can carry with the possibility of back to back wins over JWU and Lasell would undoubtedly jump start this team into another gear that I am not sure other GNAC opponents will be able to hang with!

Forgot to mention in my post this morning. Looks like another injury for the Falcons.

Damien Grant was on the sidelines in a sweatsuit last night. Has anyone heard of what his injury might be?

I look at Damien Grant as the future of this team. Very much like I did with JQ Walters during his freshman season. He doesn't have as much skill to his overall game as Walters has but from a post player standpoint, I really feel like this could be a kid that Oliver chooses to almost run his offense through in a couple years. He has showed at times this year that he has a knack for getting the ball in the basket. And his overall athleticism and leaping skills are second to none for a 1st year player.

Lets hope he is OK and will be back sooner then later.

falcons2010

Junkie, very good win for falcons on a couple of levels.

1. It's always good to beat JWU!
2. Good bounce back win
3. Defensive energy was great.. I always remember larsen and vic really shutting teams down; those were the key to those great Albertus teams
4. Got some guys back off the ir list. Coleman and Mitchell were available.
5. Lasell has kept winning; keeping pressure on falcons

I am still not convinced of Fox. Unless he is not eligible, or hurt there is no reason for him to not have logged at least 2 minutes. There have been a few blow out games. I hope I am wrong.

Grant is big; hopefully ge returns soon. The good thing of losing him for a few games is getting perriman some minutes. He has played well.

Saints; great job by Emmanal last night. Big win!!

D3HoopJunkie

What a win for the Falcons on Saturday! They outplayed Lasell from start to finish. I thought it was there most complete game all season.

Back to back wins over JWU and Lasell says a lot about where this team is right now. They are clicking at the right time and look like a force to be reckoned with to close out the season. Lets hope they can keep the momentum going!

Another gutsy performance last night by the Falcons as they beat Mt Ida on the road 86-80

I was not able to attend the game live but watched online. The broadcast that was put on by Mt Ida was outstanding. The play by play announcer was outstanding and the feed overall was excellent. He did a wonderful job of remaining unbiased throughout the entire contest. It really was the best broadcast I have heard to date in the GNAC. Although I will say (and as much as it kills me  ;D ) the folks over at Johnson and Wales do a great job with broadcasting the games as well.

This was a night where Albertus wasn't really at their best and yet they still put together a nice run in the second half to secure the lead and get out of town with a W.

JQ Walters is an absolute machine. He had 25 points and 23 rebounds last night! He is an absolute animal and really is a pleasure to watch.

I have to give Mt Ida credit. They are much more athletic than I thought they were but they are a little undisciplined and with the exception of guard Joey Defillipi they dont shoot the ball that well from distance. Now I must point out that Ethan Dujon did not play in this game. He is far and away Mt Ida best player but regardless I still think the Falcons would have come out on top last night.

The wins keep on coming!! Anna Maria on Saturday at THE NEST!!! They gave us a scare earlier in the year at Anna Maria but on Saturday I am predicting a 20+ point victory!

Saint-Paul

What do you guys think of Lasell's Armin Omanovic as the GNAC POY ?  I saw him play in some non league games as well as league games and was impressed by the fact that he does more than just score points.  He handles the ball against the press, runs the offense, and also sees the floor very well.  Is there any other players who stand out above the rest of the league?
