Falcons 25

J.Green-Younger is on the team & NOT INJURED! Hopefully, he & the "Wilby Willow" aka Damien
get on the court Wednesday vs Babson.

D3HoopJunkie

Green Younger not eleigible till January. Heard the other night that he struggled in the classroom and won't be able to play until the second half. Very tough loss for the Falcons, he is an outstanding outside shooter and a reliable weapon that we could have used already in our first 2 games this season. Hopefully he learns that his grades are most important and he is not only hurting himself but his teammates as well.

He must have really conviced Oliver that he would work hard and change because typical once you screw up be it grades or off the court you are gone. Coach Oliver has a strong no nonsense policy and has always held everyone to the same standard regardless of what kind of player you are.

Falcons 25

Very discouraging news on J.Green-Younger!

Albertus Magnus vs Babson- Keys to the game for the Falcons:

1. Get a Pulse out of Amir Maddred and Liam Perryman- rebounds, points, ANYTHING!!!!
2. Better ball distribution- TRUST EACH OTHER- 6-7 assists as a team, DOESN`T CUT IT!
3. TEAM DEFENCE- EVERY POSESSION!
4. REBOUND THE BALL!!!!

Saint-Paul

Saints were just overwhelmed by a long, athletic, Wesleyan team, 88 - 68.  The Saints announcer had the best line of the night when he commented that this was a self inflicted loss.  Every time the Saints would make a mini run at closing the gap, they would stop their own momentum with an unforced turnover or a missed point blank layup.  The game plan was also self inflicted, full court pressing the quicker, taller Wesleyan team for the full forty minutes.  The result of this strategy was eight transition dunks that broke open the game.  One power forward for Wesleyan scored all ten of his points on dunks. He never had to shoot from farther away than two inches above the rim.  Teams that tend to score a lot of points in the paint give the Saints a lot of trouble.  Also, any team with a very good press break tends to score a bunch of points quickly against the Saints.  Not sure why pressing a team that likes to run seems like a good idea.

Agree with your keys to the game completely Falcons25

This is a very big game for the Falcons. Babson has struggled early on this season and subsequently has dropped out of the Top 25 but lets kid ourselves here. This is still a very strong team who will no doubt compete for a NEWMAC title. I know Oliver wont be overlooking this team and I especially know that the returnees from last years Albertus squad want this game badly!

Fill the NEST!!!!!!!!!

SHOCKER IN NEW HAVEN:

ALBERTUS MAGNUS COLLEGE: 85
BABSON:                                81

Falcons shot 55% from the floor & dominated on the boards (+7)
J.Walters took the Falcons home with 31 PTS. & 14 Boards.
Mason Jones a very solid 21 pts.
AMIR MADDRED, our center, chipped in w/10 pts.& 5 boards!!!!  WAY TO GO, BIG GUY!
Erick Langston, our Heart & Soul Guy, w/ 9 pts.& 5 boards!
Ryan Pittman: wins the TOUGH GUY award with his tough defence down the stretch!

NEXT UP FOR FALCONS: Regis College @ THE NEST this Saturday!

Big time win for the Falcons last night!!

They came out slow and sloppy with way to many turnovers in the 1st half against a very good Babson team. As the game progressed, specifically in the second half they were able to cut down on those turnovers and really stepped it up on the defensive end. They did a great job of battling through some tough stretches of offense and did an even better job in responding to a number of good runs by Babson just as we began to cut into the lead. Ultimately we were able to grab the lead and keep it till the very end.

A highly entertaining game with a great crowd and atmosphere. JQ Walters was a one man wrecking crew in the second half. He essentially took the game over and went on a run where he simply could not be stopped.

I could go on and on but I will leave it at that for now.......Regis College, our new conference foe and first GNAC game of the season on Saturday, 3PM at the NEST!!!

Saint-Paul

Saints lose a home game to cross town rival Emerson, 95 - 81.  Saints appear to be sticking with their traditional game plan of full court pressing more talented opponents.  The Saints trap press held Emerson under 100 points tonight.  The Saints continue to take quick shots from the perimeter early in the shot clock without the ball crossing the top of the key even once.  Even the Saints game announcer started to question the Saints shot selection, when late in the second half with the Saints down by 14 points, he tells his listeners, " maybe taking quick three's one pass over half court is not the best way to get back into the game right now."  I couldn't have said it any better.  Meanwhile, at the other end of the court Emerson is running their offense with surgical precision, shooting lay ups and wide open three's.  GNAC games start on Saturday.

TRAP GAME- ALBERTUS MAGNUS VS REGIS:

Regis has players very similar to AMC- they`ll run you to death if allowed.
V.Good offensive team. (rebounding a bit suspect)

Falcons need to be ready to play from jumpstreet!
DEFEND THE NEST!

Agree with you Falcons 25. Cant take any GNAC opponent lightly. Home court advantage is so important for us as a team and in the GNAC tournament.

Another note of Regis, they are very well coached. Nate Hager is a well respected coach in the region who always has his team prepared and ready to play.

falcons2010

Anyone know why Pittman didn't play? I didn't see the game but saw the box score.

D3HoopJunkie

Heard at the game that Ryan Pittman had a loss in his family and the services were this afternoon which is why he did not play. Best wishes to Ryan and his family. I am sure he will be back in action on Tuesday.

A nice win today on their homecourt fot the Falcons in their GNAC opener. Considering they didnt have their floor general in Ryan Pittman I thought the team played quite well. Couple bad possesions here and there but overall it was a relativley easy victory. Regis was not as impressive as I had hoped but they have some good athletes and I suspect they will be a much improved team as tbe season goes on.

Another great test coming up for the Falcons on Tuesday as they head to Keene State.

Saint-Paul

Saints lose opening GNAC game to Mt Ida, 103 - 99, in over time.  Mt Ida is not as strong as they were last year.  Mustangs are lacking in size, foot speed, and defensive intensity.  Saints matched up very evenly with the Mustangs, both teams starting four guards and one forward.  Neither team dominated the paint , but both teams liked to run with every rebound, and shoot a lot of threes.  This game was back and forth all afternoon, neither team able to dominate, the difference was free throws in the over time period.

Falcons 25

I saw the Albertus Game on the computer. They really missed Ryan, our floor general, especially in the first half.
One positive that I see, is they had 16 assists- 5 for Mason Jones & 5 for Tyreek Perkins!!! But considering they won by
30, that`s all I have.
Another great test Tuesday against the Owls of Keene State.

D3HoopJunkie

Huge game tonight for the Falcons. Playing on the road against another great opponent.  This is another great nonconference game that will test our resolve and ability to win away from the Nest.

Keene State has always been a well respected team Within the region who will no doubt be competing for a LEC conference and tournament title this year. They feature great guard play. They are athletic and remind me a lot of our Falcons. Our front court is clearly stronger and more athletic but there guards can probably matchup against us as well as any team in the NE Region.

Looking forward to this one. Hopefully they have a good video feed with some audio as well!
