Albertus left off new england rankings. Guess it didn't pay to beef up the out of conference schedule. Just win the league. Go to tournament.

I mean, even as a Falcons fan beefing it up doesn't do anything if they don't win any of them lol. Sure SOS rises but not enough to offset the GNAC. Though also not their fault Babson and WPI are having down years. Then they lost to the 4 ranked teams they played (Middlebury, NJC, Keene and Swarthmore).

Well, it isn't like AMC is having an incredible season (i.e. 2 or less losses). The conference still hurts their SOS, but their SOS numbers are better than they were when they were a two-loss squad.

There is more involved than just the SOS. They have improved the SOS, but they are struggling in other categories this season.

So 2 or less losses in a season justifies having an incredible season now? Not 3 or even 4???

Being 0-4 against those regionally ranked teams are what hurt the Falcons the most with regards to Regional Rankings this season.

Even though it was our very first game of the season against Swarthmore, a terrible loss to Keene State which was just one of those head scratcher games, an OT loss to Middlebury and finally a game that Albertus lead until the buzzer against NJCU that they should have won. Those 4 games are what cost the Falcons any credibility in the regional rankings this season. Not saying that its right because I think we are mucher better then a few team on the Northeast list but such is life.

Its time to handle business and win the GNAC. Make the big dance and go on a run!

I'd guess AMC is just off the rankings.  Right now they've got a better resume than Nichols, who was ranked last week.  Right now it's the Tufts SOS that's keeping them ahead.  AMC is right there in the conversation, I'm sure.

Looks as if Albertus Magnus will be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, Johnson & Wales will be the No. 2 seed and St. Joseph's (ME) will be the No. 3 seed.  Lasell, Regis, and Suffolk will be 4-5-6 in some order.  Norwich will be the No. 7 seed and Anna Maria the No. 8 seed.  Mount Ida, Emmanuel and Rivier have been eliminated from the conference tournament.

Makes sense! I guess I jumped the gun a bit considering the bottom half of the GNAC won't be complete until the end of today's contests.

Thanks AllStar

Falcons look to close out GNAC conference play a perfect 16-0 today as they take on their biggest conference rival Johnson and Wales in both teams final regular season contest of the season. Another impressive feat for the Falcons and Coach Oliver. This team, year after year continues to impress and assert themselves as the best the GNAC has to offer.

I dont care what anyone says about the GNAC, how weak it is or how noncompetitive it is and all that other BS. These are good teams and over the years both Albertus and Johnson and Wales have impressed against top competition come NCAA tourney time. This league is tough and games are way more physical then other conference games I have watched in my time observing D3 basketball. That is why GNAC teams are always going to be feared by coaches in NCAA play.

It also makes the Falcons run over Oliver's tenure that much more impressive. They are getting every teams best game each and every night. They battle through highs and lows just like every other team and yet they continue to win year after year. This team and Coach Oliver don't get nearly the respect they deserve. I'm not mad about it, just merely stating a fact.

I know that in the D3hoops/NCAA community the upper brass so to speak are fixated on the numbers and whats on paper. I understand that our games (meaning all of Division 3) just don't have the same platform that D1 and even D2 teams have. But there are a ton of teams in this country that are much better then what those people think and its a shame that they aren't seen or covered.

D3hoops.com does a fantastic job of trying to bring light to these teams and I truly mean that. Heck, without D3hoops.com is there even another website for us D3 fans to go to? I think not. All I am saying is that the NCAA, the billion dollar industry that is the NCAA, should devote more time and resources into D3 athletics as a whole. I think that if they saw the passion and enthusiasm that D3 fans have for their schools and teams that they'd be shocked at the results.

Saint-Paul

Saints play an early afternoon game and lose to Anna Maria 91 - 73 to complete their season at 3 - 22. Saints shooting returns to normal after last weeks explosion with a 21% showing from behind the 3 point line.  No taunting fouls today , hey guys.  Anna Maria starts their seniors for the first six minutes of each half and still puts 91 points on the board with their big guns coming off the bench. Saints defense again nowhere to be found as Anna Maria scored both inside and out.   Anna Maria moves on to the playoffs while the Saints will be filling out brackets

My argument isn't that Albertus should be ranked in region; it's that talent ( eye test) will always be a big factor in ranking teams regionally. Now, when you have talent, along with a strong SOS and a good record those teams will be ranked high. That's why the team led by big vic was ranked 6 with a horrible SOS and this team (prior to yesterday's game) couldn't break the top 12. My point is the committee has seen Albertus play and don't believe they are worth a spot in ranking. And I agree, although I do believe they are having a good year.

Albertus suffered their first conference loss just before the start of GNAC tournament to JWU. Albertus will host every game they play and are still considered the favorites. A loss like this is sometimes a good thing. Players can be humbled and mitch work on the things that are team weakness.

As always, let's go Falcons.

Saint-Paul

Don't see any upsets in the first round. Home teams will hold on.  Next two rounds are not that easy.

AMC over Anna Maria  by a lot

Lasell over Regis by 10 points

St Joe over Suffolk  by 10 points

JWU over Norwich by a lot

Second round I can see one upset and one close game.

AMC  over  Lasell by 12 points

St Joe upsets JWU by 8 points

Championship game I see AMC holding on in a close game

AMC over St Joe by 7 points

well, let's play the game anyway and see what happens.
