The third public NCAA Division III regional rankings are out: https://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2019/02/men-regional-rankings-third

Thanks Dave, anyway you can update or check the "NCAA Data Sheet" links though? They all seem to be sourcing to the midd atlantic region? Could be me, I'm by no means technically savy 😄

I should not have said all. It appears it is just happening for the Northeast, East and West

I'll check ... I might have screwed up the links while trying to do it enmass.

UPDATE: Northeast was the only one I spotted with a glitch. Fixed. Sorry about that.

Coach Calhoun hasn't been on the bench in the second half, does anyone know why?

Falcons 25

Great Victory by AMC vs Emmanuel! The victory was secured by turning the Saints over numerous times
& converting often via these turnovers! GREAT TEAM VICTORY!
NEXT UP: THE ST. JOES BLUE JAYS in the GNAC CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY AT 1PM @ THE NEST!

Saint-Paul

When the season started back in November and I saw that the Saints had the same players as last year I was hoping for a 6 win season.  I figured the new coach could at least double the win total from the previous year.  Watching the Saints put together a competitive 18 win season was beyond all expectations.  Seeing the ball actually move around the perimeter before taking a shot was itself a miracle.  Playing meaningful games in February for the first time in ten years was a success. Hope the Saints get an ECAC game next week.  They certainly deserve one.
Good Luck to the Falcons in the championship game.  Their defense certainly was the difference  this year.

Unfortunately, Emmanuel withdrew their ECAC membership a few years ago when the ECAC decided to go to a one champion format for all team sports.  Great season for the Emmanuel men, though.  I stayed home on Thursday to watch all 4 GNAC semifinal games (men and women) on my new Roku TV.

I tried to cover the ECAC men's and women's basketball tournaments last year on the d3 boards, but no one else was interested.  Brandeis is one of only a few New England d3 schools that still has an ECAC membership.  The Brandeis men did finish over .500 this season with their new coach, Jean Bain.  I expect that Brandeis will get an ECAC bid on Monday.  Potential Wed night opponents for Brandeis would be SUNY Cobleskill, John Jay, Brooklyn, or Rutgers-Newark, IMO.  The ECAC Final 8 men's sites the past 2 years were held at Penn State Behrend in 2017 (won by Stockton), and at Wilkes last year (won by Widener-- made notable by the Baruch men's basketball team bus being stranded in the Poconos for over 24 hours by bad weather.)

The only other New England d3 college on the men's side to declare for ECACs this year was Maine Maritime (finished under .500-- not eligible).

In short, the ECAC only crowns one champion for men's basketball now, and there is no longer an ECAC New England region (New Engand is part of the new ECAC North region for purposes of individual and team honors).

I will let Coach Calhoun comment for himself on his personal health issues.  USJ is fortunate to have Glen Miller as an Associate Head Coach.  The  commentator on the Monks streaming feed did not make a huge deal out of the situation.

St Joe's Bluejays leading at halftume, 44-37, at the Nest in New Haven, CT.

Coach Jim Calhoun on the bench for the second half.  Albertus Magnus opens 2nd half on a 4-0 run.  I am watching this on my Roku TV.

The cool kids of the GNAC are champions again!  Albertus Magnus wins the GNAC AQ, 81-77, over St Joe's CT. .

Great job by USJ to make the title game in their first year as a program.

Saint-Paul

Looked like a momentum change when Albertus switched from man to man to a zone defense.  It allowed the Albertus big men to be in better rebounding position and also allowed the guards to close out on perimeter shooters quicker. Good coaching move. Good luck in the NCAA games.

Falcons 25

Great point, Saint re: the defensive shift! AMC is a mentally tough team & every game it is someone new
who steps up & makes the big play! Tonight, it was Damian Grant who was a beast under the basket with
tough hoop after tough hoop. Albertus is just a GREAT TEAM!!! ALL THE BEST IN NCAA.
