Falcons 25

AMC: 74
Colby-Sawyer: 71
Thank God for Q.Wilkes & R. Tindley who scored 13 & 14 pts respectively.
This was an "in the mud" type game, which somehow the Falcons came out
on top!
Drew Rice does have a broken hand; look for him just before playoff time!

AMC better not take their next game for granted, they play a very good Regis squad Tuesday!

Falcons 25

St. Paul- Emmanuel has a HUGE game Tuesday night vs Johnson & Wales. What happened vs Lasell?
We all look forward to your coverage of the Saints!
All AMC is rooting for you on Tuesday as we take on a strong Regis squad.
All the best!

Saint-Paul

Hate to say this but clearly, the Saints took the 3 - 11 Lasell team lightly.  Saints only made 5 of 25 three point shots and only 11 of 19 free throws, both uncharacteristic statistics.  The real telling statistic was only 11 assists for the Saints, they were just not moving the ball. They let Lasell hang around and lost on a last second jump shot at the buzzer.  Hopefully it will be the only time that happens this year.  Interesting game coming up on Tuesday.  J&W likes to press and push the ball in transition, while the Saints like to walk the ball up the floor, spread the floor and play a very deliberate offense. Who will control game tempo?  Saints will have to shoot better from the perimeter and reduce the number of J&W run outs. Moving the ball and will be the key.  GNAC games are starting to get good.

Saint-Paul

Cannot believe the Saints won this game at JWU, 86 - 84, OT.  JWU was playing well and in control of this game for 39 minutes and 45 seconds. With 15 seconds left in the game, Saints guard drove the lane and hit a short, 10 foot jumper to tie the score at 74. After a time out, JWU set a few screens and took an open jumper from the foul line that missed. Saints grabbed the rebound and threw a long outlet pass to a streaking guard who got fouled shooting a lay up with under 1 second to play. Saints guard stepped to the foul line for two shots with 0.9 sec on the clock and the game tied at 74.  Saints guard missed both free throws to send the game into overtime. The overtime period was back and forth with both teams exchanging baskets. Saints were up 85 - 84 with 17 seconds left, and the Saints guard on the foul line for two shots.  Saints guard made one free throw, and missed the second free throw.  JWU did not call time out but pushed the ball in transition and missed the layup. Saints big man took the rebound and the Saints started to run off the court in apparent victory.  However, out of nowhere, a referee came running across the court with his arm and fist raised, calling a rebounding foul on a Saints guard.  A JWU player went to the foul line for two shots with 0.7 sec on the clock.  Now it was the JWU players turn to miss two free throws.  Instead of tying the game, he missed both shots and the Saints were fouled again on the rebound with 0.3 sec on the clock.  Saint player went to the foul line holding an 86 - 84 lead and again missed both free throws.  Fortunately, as the JWU player took the last rebound no more fouls were called and the Saints were finally able to run off the court with a well earned road victory.

Falcons 25

What a great result, Saint! I was going back & forth between Emmanuel/ J & W & Regis/AMC!
I almost had a stroke, when the Emanuel player missed both free throws @ the end of Regulation!

Meantime, AMC played a terrible game, but they would not quit & they got 61 rebounds! They "willed"
their way into overtime & then J. Green-Younger took over with several clutch baskets.
We need Tyreek Perkins to "show up" for EVERY GAME! Too, Davon Warner needs to start shooting better.
All of this said....THIS TEAM IS A WINNER!

Next up: St. Joe`s- Maine Saturday @ 3pm @ THE NEST!

Falcons 25

AMC: 99
St. Joe`s-Maine: 93

What a great game! Jack Casale, the Monk`s star player, dropped 48 pts. on the Falcons.
But he was countered by Tyreek Perkins- 32 pts., 6 assists & 8 rebounds & J. Green-Younger
- 24 pts.
I take both of these men for granted, but we are really going to miss them when they are gone!
If we win the GNAC championship, it will be because of the GREAT LEADERSHIP of these fine men!

NEXT UP: ST. JOE`S- W.Hartford -  This Wednesday-7PM @ THE NEST! (THIS WILL BE THE GAME OF
THE YEAR!!!!)

Time for a marathon!

Thursday, Hoopsville will be on the air for at least nine hours in the 7th Annual Hoopsville Marathon Show.

This year's show will feature coaches, administrators, and many others around Division III to give us a sense of the season to date and what is to come. There is only a month or so left in the regular season, so there is plenty to talk about.

For more information about the show and its impact, click here.

The show's guest list is below with a rough idea of when they were scheduled to appear during the live show.

The marathon is also a chance to fundraise of the show. Many fans of Hoopsville ask often how they can give to the program so we can continue doing our work into the future. In the first few years of the Marathon, the fundraising side was an important aspect. However in the last few years, we have shyed away from fundraising as we tried to find other means to financially run the program. After requests from many, we are do have a few ways fans can contribute.

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. You can watch the entire Marathon show LIVE in the video player above. We will effort to turn around podcast episodes of the entire show. They will be available to the right (after the show is off the air).

Guests appear on the Hoopsville Hotline presented by BlueFrame Technology.

And don't forget to interact with the Dave and guests. You can use the social media option to the right and even email (dave.mchugh@d3sports.com) questions to the show.

When it comes to the game of basketball, we love celebrating not only the student-athletes in Division III, but also those who help carry the game forward sometimes outside of the spotlight.

Sunday on Hoopsville, we celebrate those who have made the game of basketball, especially at DIII, so great. Coaches who continue to excel in different parts of the country and programs who play for more than just themselves.

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. You can watch Thursday's Marathon Show in the following ways:

Saint-Paul

Saints did win the game with the Amcats 95 - 82, but I was not happy about the style of play. Saints are usually a very deliberate, patient, team moving the ball to find the best shot.  Tonight, the Saints matched the Amcats style, running up and down the court on every possession, taking the first shot available.  The tough, half court defense and patient, moving and cutting offense was not on display tonight.  Saints pushed the ball as much as the Amcats did, the big difference was that the Saints shot the ball better.  Saints showed very little defense tonight, and took advantage of the Amcats poor shot selection.  Any win is a good win, but let's hope this style of game is a once in a while occurance and doesn't become the norm.

Falcons 25

Well, AMC got "smoked" by St.Joe`s- W.Hartford in THE NEST!
Delshawn Jackson had a great game w/36 pts. & Jordan Powell added 22 pts.
The guy who "stirs the drink" on the Blue Jays is NOT either of the aforementioned players.
Rather, their point guard Jaecee Martin, is THE MAN. Defending this guy is almost impossible.
The Falcons will see St.Joe`s again THIS YEAR IN THE PLAYOFFS & will wipe the smirks off
their faces.
NEXT UP: Suffolk University @ 7pm Saturday @ Tufts(Medford, Ma.)

P.S.- In the bad news dept.- Marguan Watson is OFF THE ROSTER?

St. Joe's has the attention of all of New England and probably increasingly D3 overall.
Albertus Magnus is a very good team.  To see them get thrashed like that emphasizes just how good Calhoun's team is.  Scary.

They were better than Williams, very clearly, when they played.  It's a tough team, with lots of size, speed, and skill.  Going to be a tough out in the NCAAs, assuming they make it through.

Yup. I was very impressed by St Joe's against Williams.  I thought the Ephs had one of their better efforts that night, and St Joe's just kept making big plays.  They are a strange team, no real post, very little outside shooting, but they are hyper athletic, get to the rim relentlessly and they can finish in the paint.  Of course, very well-coached, too.  And yes, Martin is flat-out nasty.  While not a shooter, I think he's the quickest player with the ball I've seen in D3, although it's close between him and Eian Davis. He's also a one-man press.  No coincidence they have not lost since he started playing.  To me, St Joe's and Colby (both have issues defending the post but are so tough in other ways that they compensate) are very even and the class of New England, followed very closely by Midd.  A bunch of other teams are solid but I like that trio to go far if they are healthy.

Saint-Paul

Saints hold on for a good road win, 95 - 79 , over a very athletic Regis team.  This game was close for the first 36 minutes, then some timely shooting by the Saints put this game in the win column.  Regis was a very tough opponent, full court pressing for the whole game, and attacking the offensive boards at opportune times.  Glad to see that when the Saints broke the Regis press they did not run wild and take bad shots.  The Saints did a good job of making the correct decisions in transition.

Saint-Paul

Saints used their X-FILES connection to defeat a strong Colby-Sawyer team 89 - 70 tonight in an important GNAC game.  Fox (19) Moulder (24) combined for 43 of the Saints 89 points to break open a close game and push their league record to 5 - 1.  Saints were patient, moving the ball, finding open men, and knocking down 11 threes, while holding the Chargers to just 18% from the 3 point line. Colby-Sawyer is usually a much better shooting team then they showed tonight so there must have been some mysterious forces at work in the air tonight in the Saints gym. The answer is in the playoffs.

Falcons 25

AMC with a "character" win vs J & W. Men, your work has just begun! You need to win the next 5 games
to finish in second place in the GNAC. (This would include wins over Lasell & Emmanuel @ Home)
One team has a legimate shot @ beating St.Joe`s for First place, EMMANUEL!      GO SAINTS!
These two great squads will face off shortly!
GNAC Tourney should be a lot of fun!
