Great win by Albertus Magnus last night. They've beaten the preseason #2 NEWMAC team, Babson and the preseason #2 NJAC team, Montclair St now.

Seems a little excessive for 2 starters to play 31 and 34 minutes in a 60-pt win, up 35 at halftime.

We have news on the rescheduling of the GNAC men's basketball game between Mitchell and Dean that was supposed to have been played last Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Pieri Gymnasium in Franklin, MA, but was suspended in the middle of the first half with the score of Dean 18, Mitchell 14 when Eddie Volkerts of Mitchell collapsed on the floor and was taken to a local hospital.  Volkerts had been named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week for his performance over the preceding week prior to the game.   According to news provided by Hoopsville, Volkerts is okay and is recovering.  No further details have been released regarding his condition.  Mitchell did send a brief press statement which was read on the Hoopsville show the day after the medical incident.

The game is now scheduled to resume on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 6 PM ET at Pieri Gymnasium in Franklin, MA.    According to the GNAC website, it will be resumed with the game still in the middle of the first half rather than restarted from the beginning-- as it is listed as a continuation of the game from Feb. 12, 2025.  (although the date was listed in European format with the day listed before the month-- in other words 12/2 being Feb. 12 rather than Dec. 2 which would be the date listed in the American format of month/day).

The Mitchell at Dean game that started on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025 and was suspended with 10:06 remaining in the first half and Dean leading Mitchell by a score of 18-14 will resume at 6 PM ET today from Pieri Gymnasium in Franklin, MA.  The Dean athletics channel on Boxcast is scheduled to stream pregame warmups starting at 5:45 PM ET. 

As I understand it, the game will continue from the point of the suspension and not be restarted from the beginning.

Both Mitchell and Dean are tied at 6-6 in the GNAC and have clinched spots in the GNAC men's basketball tournament.  However, this game has to be played for seeding.   The winner could very well be on track to avoid a Monday play-in game and go straight to next Tuesday's GNAC quarterfinals, while the loser will most likely have to enter the GNAC tournament in the play-in round this upcoming Monday and have to win 4 games for the AQ.

St. Joe's Maine is the #1 seed for the 2025 GNAC men's basketball tournament.
