All-around

I have heard Salem will be stacked again this year. They have all returners, including star Eric Downie. As far as reloading I have heard they have Marquis Victor a 6'2 transfer who played at Assumption as well as Juco for a year. Also, Jeremy Taitt 6'4 from CCRI another good swingman, as well as Jamal Jackson from Cambridge who was in prep for a year who is roughly 6'5. And I am sure there are more to come.

If Salem just brings back their team from last year, then they should move back into their usual status of "above average team that absolutely no one wants to play, ever."

so the fact that bridgewater is gettin almost their whole team back with a preseason honerable mention all-american and their the defending mascac champions means nothing i guess.....they beat salem twice last year and they can do it again.

I didn't say anything about Bridgewater.  I just said Salem should be better than they were last year.  Bridgewater can be good too.  It's ok to have two good teams in one conference.  I understand that's a new concept for the MASCAC, but they may want to try it out this year.

Bridgewater actually has lost one key player and that is 6'9 starting center Tyler Lang. Dont know what happened to him, but he is not on the roster.

All-around

Congrats to Eric Downie for All American Honorable Mention

Gr8Day2BaBear

first of all tyler never once started center, he played the 3 and the 4 the majority of the time, the dominant center in the league is derek thompson preseason honerable mention all-american....where's his congrats???  also filling the roll of lang is roland millien who plays similar to d-thomp and will be a tough matchup with both of them on the floor as he is 100% for the first time in two years....also there is chris dijak a 6'5 transfer from umass amherst who is an absolute beast, currently starting d-tackle for the football team (the only sport he played at amherst)....the bears may not be as tall as salem, but i think will be bigger and tougher inside, the true test will come earlier then that anyways when the play wpi in a rematch of last year's ncaa tourney.

heythere

Lang wasnt very good for his size, he always floated out to the 3pt line. i wonder we he is now. bridgewater st was his 3rd school in 3 years.

All-around

Now lets not jump to conclusions. Im not saying BSC is going to be bad, however losing such a big presence can possibly be costly on the defensive end, as Lang was there to cover other big guys over 6'6. On the offensive end it prob. is not as big of a loss.

The other reason why I am not all over BSC is because of the track record. And yes they made the NCAA'S last year so definitly congrats to them for that. But, if you look at the last 5 years they have not had a season with less than 10 losses, which isn't exaclty impressive. And Salem is well, Salem. And it seems that Westfield is now in the mix as well.

And yes Congrats to D. Thompson

Gr8Day2BaBear

d-thomp covered the other teams center because he can jump out of the building even at 6'3, when they went 2-3 zone lang was on the wing so even though he was a double-double guy and a solid player he was never the inside presence u'r making him out to be, and lang still goes to bridgewater he's just not playing.

All-around

Man, Salem State just keeps dissapointing. A loss to RWU is not good for them. Although they have loads of talent, and Downie is good, they seem to never have any chemistry with this current team.

Gr8Day2BaBear

forget about salem that are a bunch of cocky kids who basically don't have the gpa's to play in a higher division...the true experience will be found tonight with bsc vs. wpi......either team would deserve a ranking if they win....salem until they play as a team (assuming mccants doesn't knock downie out again this year....true story) we'll see what happens

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

That's true.  It's tough to tell exactly how good WPI and BSC are, but we'll know at least relatively, after this next game.

How about Westfield State starting out a surprising 3-0, and beating elms which made the tourny. last year.
