It's so quiet I was beginning to think the WIAC site had been shut down. Is there nothing left to say?

I won't be able to go over to UWO today - it's our "family" Christmas today.

Oshkosh can be a tough place to play, so the Stout Runnin' Lady Blue Devils had better be ready for a hard fought game.

EC has the bye, so with Superior traveling to WW today, we could possibly have a tie for second place in the WIAC after today.

Point and LaCrosse do battle, so one of the two will hit the 6 loss mark - something neither wants to do.

And finally, River at Platteville.  River can't afford a letdown after their big win on Wednesday, or they will hit the 6 loss mark.

All I can say is...

Go BLUE DEVILS!!!!

UWO gets crushed at home against Stout 70-45.

When I got home last late last night, all I did was check the score - and yes, I was a happy camper!!!

Joanna Bird hit a pair of 3 pointers and a layup to start the game, giving Stout a 8 - 0 lead.  Kelsey Duoss scored 7 points, had 6 rebounds and 6 blocked shots in the first half.

The Stout D held UWO to 22.6% shooting in the first half, of course 9 blocked shots out of 31 attempts will help that.  Besides Duoss' 6 blocks, Char Edwards, Kim Stokke, and 5'3" Amanda Geissler added 1 block each.

Coach T was able to clear his bench during the second half, with all 20 players getting at least 2 minutes of game time before the largest home crowd of the season at Kolf Center.

In the other games in the WIAC:

WW jumps out to a 32 - 20 lead in the first half against Superior, but then their shooting goes colder than the weather outside in the second half - shooting only 17.6% - but still escapes with a 6 point win.  The victory lifts them to a tie for second place.

Must have been a thing for the home teams yesterday, because UWL and UWSP played to a 25 - 24 score in the first half in favor of the Pointers.  Then the Lady Eagles shooting dropped nearly 17 percentage points in the second half - Pointers go home with a 62 - 49 win.

River Falls traveled down the MN/WI border to play the Pioneers in Platteville.  The Falcons jumped out to a 36 - 24 lead in the first half, and finished out the game with a score of 61 - 48.

As a result of the evenings actions, we still have a logjam for 2nd/3rd in the WIAC.  WW and EC are 8 - 4, while RF and Point are 8 - 5.

Wednesdays games may shake things our a little:

UW-Eau Claire @ UW-River Falls
UW-La Crosse @ UW-Platteville
UW-Superior @ UW-Stout
UW-Whitewater @ UW-Stevens Point

You should talk to my wife.  She says that all the time.

-23 or something up here; I suspect it's cold all over. However, UW=Soup people's hearts are warmed by the unexpected win over Stout in hawkey last night. Yes, I realize this is a basketball board, but point me to the hockey board, OK?

Anyway, sort of kept up on the Stout-Oshkosh women's game via text messages from my daughter who was listening on the internet--thank god for technology--and she starts out with a message that says, "they only suited up ten players." I couldn't believe it. Turns out it was Oshkosh, a team that only has eleven on the roster. I thought there had been some kind of revolution in basketball rulings.

Sounds like Superior women played better than they did against many other teams, or Whitewater wasn't paying attention. I believe anything under a 12 point loss is a moral victory.

It was -16 below here this morning, and as I drove Mrs. Champ to the airport to head back to D.C., it was still -6 below...

That's a big win for the Soup town hockey team!  If I told you where the hockey board was, I'd have to shoot you... ;) ;D ;)

If I went on a hockey board, they would shoot me.

Well, growing up on the Iron Range, hockey was king for us.

How in the world I've become such a Women's BB junkie, I'll never know? ???

Although, I suspect Coach T might possibly have something to do with it... ;D ;) 8)

The WARHAWKS shoot very poorly, 28% for the game and 17% in the second half, but a 48-39 advantage on the boards, 22 offensive,  a 18 to 27 advantage in turnovers and holding Moench to 6 points for the game allow them to escape with a 58-52 win over Superior Saturday afternoon.  Trisha Thill, Lindsey Buechner and Nicole Bundy score double figures with 15, 14 and 11 points respectively.  Tiffany Morton led WARHAWK rebounders with 7.  Thill had 5 steals.

Breanna Herzog led the YellowJacket with a double-double 15 points and 14 rebounds.

The win, #15 (15-6, 8-4), set a career best single season win mark for head coach Keri Carollo and held the WARHAWKS' second place position.
