That story makes my story about the high school varsity basketball team giving the Rortvedt boys (Ross and Pete) pink bellies before every game kinda lame. Of course, this was a while back, when they were gym rat kids. I don't think anybody tried to pink bellies them while they were on the HS varsity squad

What did she do?

After a game, head coaches always seem to go and shake the hand of the opposing coach and say a few words.

After the last Stout/UWEC game, Tonya just swiped her hand at Coach T's outstreched hand and turned and walked away.

I'm not saying that a coach needs to act like the best friend of the opposing coach - and I know that losing to an arch rival absolutely sucks - but showing a little respect for a fellow coach isn't too much to expect from a college coach, IMHO.

Yeah, I've seen Tonya do that a couple times.  However, I don't think she means to disrespect the other coach, I think she is sometimes upset by the play of her team.  Still though, in these instances I do think she could be a bit more friendly during the post game handshake.

Watch to see who goes to shake hands first before tomorrow's Stout/UWEC game...

Watch to see which coach actually respectfully claps for and looks at each individual opponent when those starters are announced, unlike other coaches who are already huddled up with their teams... I've seen very few coaches at any level do it.

However, I've seen one coach do it once - maybe this coach does it always, too? - but I've seen the other coach do it every single game...

I know what you're getting at Bulk....but I WILL keep an eye out tomorrow during pre game.

Not sure if I'm heading over tomorrow or not... Might just have to listen to Mike Sullivan's call - he's got to be doing the game, right? - so, safe travels to you, too, if you go... Here's hoping he ends it with "It's a great day to be a Blugold..."

Yes, Bulk is right.  Tonya also comes over after the starters are announced and shakes the other coach's hand.  Even if the other coach is huddling, she waits until they break the huddle

Yeah.  It looks like the crappy weather will make me stay put at home.  I would think Sullivan would be doing the game.  He does such good radio that it will seem that we are right there in Johnson Fieldhouse.

I was really looking foward to 2300 people packed into the Johnson Feildhouse, but the weather could play a huge role in keeping attendance down, especially for EC fans.  Still should be a great atmosphere

You're retired! Enough of this hoops stuff. Take a break! Go to bed already! Besides, don't you have a curfew, to be on the radio show in the early a.m.?  ;)

You played hoops for four years, but you aren't quite ready give it up, right?  ;) That's cool. That's why old farts like me enjoy watching you guys - you love the game... Hope you keep posting on here after you're done and graduated, and wherever you end up... Be nice for you to stay in state - maybe even in a WIAC city - so you can continue to follow and give your great insights...

As for this old fart, as soon as Gamera finishes destroying the rest of what ever he's wreaking havoc on, I'm hitting the hay, with visions of basketballs dancing in my head...  ;)

I know I have seen Tonya come over and shake hands before the game.  I've never noticed her clapping while the opponents starters were being introduced, but then I wouldn't be looking at Tonya at that time.

It's easy to put on a good sportmanship act before the game, quite another to do it after a tough loss.

When Stout played at Zorn and lost the season opener this year, Coach T went over and shook hands and congratulated Tonya - just like he does all the time.

Another thing that Coach T does - when his squad plays a team for the final time during the season - he seeks out each and every senior on the opposing team to wish them well in their future endeavors after BB.

In many cases T recruited these girls to come to Stout, but for whatever reason they chose to go to another school.  Maybe it was their major, maybe it was that the girl thought that her abilities would be utilized on another team, or maybe the girl didn't think that Coach T was who she wanted to spend 4 or 5 years with.

It doesn't matter to T - he respects the time and dedication that they've given to WIAC BB - and wants to let them know that he appreciates what they've given to the sport.

We need you and your brother to be in charge of firing up the student section this afternoon... ;D

Thanks for all you've done for Stout in your four years on the court.  I know that you know that I primarily a WBB fan, but I've seen enough of the MBB games over your career to see how you and your brother improved your games and became serious forces to be dealt with when on the court.

I wish both of you nothing but the best in the future.

Hope to be celebrating with both of you after a big Stout win today.  I'll be happy to actually buy the two of you a beer - not just talk about it like Stoutguy... ;)

I'm pretty sure you know who I am, if not have Stoutguy point you in the right direction for your beverage of choice!!!

The timing on this weather and the BIG game really sucks!  Might have to stay home and listen to it.  Why couldn't they have this tomorrow instead???

Either way go LADY BLUGOLDS.
