It would be revolutionary to hold a game like this on a neutral court to reduce the potential for home-court sniping, which detracts from the conversation but, unfortunately, has some basis in truth. Every time I see a defender knock down a ball handler and force a 'steal', I think somebody is missing something. Anyway, a neutral court in reasonable proximity to the two teams (in this case, NOT River Falls) would get fans to focus on the game and not have everything colored by 'homer' complaints. This game may--or may not, I have no illusions about the chance that one team won't be as ready as it thought--be the game of the year. If it is, I hope everyone watching and listening knows and appreciates the quality of play by both teams.

It took me a long time to realize that coaches and teams are not inherently good or evil. They may play games a bit differently, which is what carries one team over another, but the only real difference usually ends up being the uniforms. Meet the people away from the game, and they are surprisingly normal. I suspect, no, I know, Tonya cares about her players AND opposing players. She took the time to talk to my daughter after her ACL tear, co-miserate about the injury, wish her well, even had the good grace to say she'd miss seeing her playing. She didn't have to; my daughter didn't leave an unfillable hole that would change the course of the season. But Tonya took the time, made the effort. Just like any coach probably would. The game isn't about who might disrespect whom, or who seems breezy in the post-game handshake. It's about the ten players on the court at any given time, the strategy throughout the game. And, of course, the announcing.

We, at home, will really be focusing on the announcing. Hope that doesn't put any pressure on anyone...

The timing on this weather and the BIG game really sucks!  Might have to stay home and listen to it.  Why couldn't they have this tomorrow instead???

Heading out to the game in about 10 minutes...

Mrs. Champ's flight from Minneapolis to Rochester was canceled last night, so I'm headed to Johnson Fieldhouse via Minneapolis.... :o

Hopefully, 5 and a half hours is enough time to get there!!!

!!!GO STOUT!!!

Just focus on Jake.  I might just buy a cowboy hat for our next outing.

retired is a state of mind ;)

Who can sleep with the war on 94 heating up as the weather is cooling off!!!!!

Looking forward to the show and to the game tomorrow

We need you and your brother to be in charge of firing up the student section this afternoon... ;D

Thanks for all you've done for Stout in your four years on the court.  I know that you know that I primarily a WBB fan, but I've seen enough of the MBB games over your career to see how you and your brother improved your games and became serious forces to be dealt with when on the court.

I wish both of you nothing but the best in the future.

Hope to be celebrating with both of you after a big Stout win today.  I'll be happy to actually buy the two of you a beer - not just talk about it like Stoutguy... ;)

I'm pretty sure you know who I am, if not have Stoutguy point you in the right direction for your beverage of choice!!!

This is perfect.  Jake and John,  I will point you in the direction of Champ at the Ale House and now we are even!!!! ;D

Yessssss. A cowboy hat. That would make a statement.

So, will Char have still another break-out performance today? Will Kelsey dominate from inside or outside (I secretly hope she chooses today to unveil her three point game); will Julia Hirssig continue her determined march to Freshman/rookie of the year; will Bird get to play or should she just sit and heal a bit more, knowing there will be other games...this season; will Savanah's entrance mark the real start of the game? Will the twins harmonize for a national anthem NO ONE will forget, no matter how hard they try?

Blue Devil Backer

Savavah Will start I beleive even if brid is back But do the twins know who I am to get me to buy the drinks

Or you'll make a payment on a condo in Cancun ;)  in which case you should pay for all of us to fly down there and have a Corona on the beach

If you see me (7'0" wearing Blue Devil gear :D) don't be afriad to come over and say hi, that also goes for the EC posters that make the trip.

What I really hope for is a good, clean game and GOOD officiating (something that is hard to come by these days, especially during the playoffs). Doesn't seem right that the WIAC would have one of the refs who is local. Just hope he does his job.

H49--You'll have to either be there, paying no attention to the crowd, or listening to both radio broadcasts to have a hope of determining how the play or officiating is going. I'm going to presume the officials will do their jobs and hope they don't rely on the crowd to give them direction.

Sounds like there's lots of offense so far

Just Bill

Stout runs ahead early and maintains the lead throughout the game, winning 73-61.  Duoss scores 19 and grabs 13 rebounds.  #1 seeds now 27-0 in the nine year history of the tournament.

Hey great effort Lady Blugolds.....keep your chins up. Don't look back from this point on, only forward.

We're all proud of you, not just for what you do on the court, but of who YOU are.

Just go have fun the rest of the year!!!!!!!!
