On a side note, mad props to the EC fan (with his binoculars in hand) who sought me out after the game for "running the clock wrong", even though I just do the PA. According to him, the clock should start immediately after a made FT, not when it rolls all the way to half court, even though no one touched it. Added a few needless obscenities in there, just to show how smart he was. EC fans, I know not all of you are like that (though every call was "terrible" according to most Blugolders in the stands. Don't the refs know that EC never does anything wrong?), but this guy was your delegate for the night.

Any bets on who will be the first to knock off EC?

Hey that was me!  Don't you know that your supposed to start the clock right after the made FT?   ;D :D   No, it wasn't me, but I will be looking during EC games for a person with binoculars.  I am guessing it would be someone's parent.  I wouldn't think that too many ordinary fans would travel all the way to Oshkosh for a weekday game.

Point comes to Zorn next Wednesday.  That should be a close game.
EC goes to WW on Feb 2
EC goes to Point on Feb 13

Probably one of these three games.  My guess would be the Feb 2nd game.  That one will be really tough for the Golds to win.

Why would someone need binoculars to watch a basketball game in EC?  Have they moved the games to Carson Park?

Should be an interesting game in EC Saturday. I'd love to be at this one! It's always tough to win at Zorn, everyone knows that but I think Point's depth gives them the advantage. It's going to be exciting to see how that SP/WW matchup evolves in Feb. It'd be nice to see the WIAC get 2 or maybe 3 representatives in the tourny this year - but we all know how that goes!

Voice, perhaps your physco fan is that kid who used to film the games at Zorn. They guy who plays ref, coach and mad scientist from the second tier? I wouldn't mess with that guy!

I totally remember that kid.  He used to pace back and forth like a caged lion, screaming at everyone on the court.  I guarantee EC watched those game tapes WITHOUT the sound.

The first and still most accurate description of the D3 Championship BeltTM thread.

Why would anyone need binoculars in any arena in this conference?

Your descriptions are right on.  It was hilarious watching him during games, especially when a questionable call was made.   I think he just filmed for the men's team though

Actually, the Point game is on Wednesday.  EC plays RF this Saturday.

I think the WIAC will have an excellent chance of getting 2 teams in this year.  Both Point and WW have only 1 regional loss a piece at this time.  Barring a collapse by these teams, they are looking really good for the national tourny at this time.  If EC finishes well, they could also be in.  EC has 2 regional losses that were suffered in non-conference games.  IF they only lose 2 more games in the regular season, that would leave them with 4 regional losses.  If they happen to lose in the confernence tourny, they would be at 5 regional losses.  I would think that in most seasons, this would get them in (for Pool C).  There are just so many external factors that influence this however.  Actually, Stout also has 2 regional losses but didn't have many non-conference games against regional opponents (a lot of D2 games) so they are hard to judge at this time.

One thing that should help the WIAC is the new formula for QOWI.  If I understand it correctly, this new formula includes the regional records of your opponents' opponents.  I believe that this formula will be used for Pool C selection this season.

Actually, this guy was about 55-60, in my best guess. I though he was gonna whack me with those binocs.

No close games today.

Point over Superior
EC over RF
UWL over UWO
WW over Stout

A lot of good 3-point shooting by some teams:

EC 10-22
RF 8-20
WW 14-23
UWL 4-7

EC picks up a nice road win over RF.  Good 3-point shooting and FTs (27-30) lead the rout.  EC looked good on offense except for the close in shots.  After a cold start, RF picked it up on the offensive end.  Parr had a hot hand from the outside, including a few shots that were well beyond the arc.

EC had a well balanced attack with 5 players in double figures.  Congrats to Burns who went over the 1000pt mark.  Today, she had 18pts and 11rebs, including 12-13 from the line.  Witt also had a solid game both shooting and leading the team.

EC already has 5 road conference games finished, all wins.  However, still have to go to Point and UWW.  Anyhow, a lot of games at Zorn to come.

Anyone know whats up with Zenner?  She hasn't played the last couple of games.

Buf...
WW was 11 for 16 from 3-point land.  The 11 made 3's ties a school record.   The 14 of 23 froienm the free throw line.  Great bounce back win for the Hawks in their first game out after losing to EC.

Oops, thanks for correcting me.  ;)

Buf- Apparently Z has a minor injury since she warms up with the team.

That binocs thing is crazy. I've never seen anyone with binocs at any of the games, but then I was watching the game. :D I can't imagine why anyone would bring them to a basketball game. Football for sure. Now all the golds fans will be looking for this guy.  :D

Go bluegolds!

Just had an afterthought. Does anyone know for sure it was an EC fan  and not somebody from Oshkosh?

Oshkosh's Super Fan doesn't carry binoculars.  He's a hoot to watch though.  :D

The WARHAWKS like to play Stout style, 94 feet, up and down the floor, substitute liberally.  It's no secret that Coach Carollo worked with Coach Thomas and his influence is obvious when you watch us play.   But what was interesting in yesterday's decisive second half was that it was scraping it, slowing things down and turning the game into more of a half court contest that turned the tide.  Stout had trouble matching up with Morton, Buechner  and Thompson.

Kelsey Hendrickson led all scorers with 21 points (4/5 3pts), had 5 assists to one turnover, a rebound and 2 steals.  Hendrickson has been a huge addition to the team this year.  If the second half of the season goes like the first she's a legit POY candidate.  I'd just like to thank Lisa Stone for believing Rae Lin D'Ale is a better player.  ;)
