QuoteSuperior is bad

Adding insult to injury, one decent player (Nord) was in street clothes, and a promising first-year player (Gronli) is no longer on the team. Rumor has it she was kicked off. Maybe she was showing too much promise. Certainly having those two on the floor wouldn't have made a bottom-line difference, but perhaps they would have contributed a little offense and defense and brought the scores a little closer together.

Still trying to figure out Mulhern's strategy. It's not apparent, yet.

2 reasons why Point lost.  Terrible shooting and bad coaching.  Someone needs to take some responsibility other than the players...
Oshkosh also played well.  Give them credit...

Sorry, one other comment.  Point does not appear to look inside much and likes to shoot on the outside too much.  They need to be able to do both...otherwise their season will not get any better.  I agree they should have fed the ball to Kranz when she was posting up.  Will be interesting to see if they can rebound and win the rest of their games...

Considering your e-mail address, I'm not suprised you feel that way.

Why do you mention terrible coaching? What seemed to go wrong? Other posts indicate that Zero pressured Point pretty well. Just curious what you meant by this...hard to believe that Point put up 13 points for a half. That's crazy!

I thought just the opposite. Kranz got a touch almost every trip in the second half, and the Titans doubled down hard. Did I just remember that incorrectly? Kranz didn't always get the ball in a great position to score, but I thought the offense went through her quite a bit during the second.

The Pointers did settle for outside shots in the first half, though. But like some others wrote, UWO played great team D to force the UWSP shots to come from the outside. I don't know how many shot-clock violations UWSP was forced into, but there were plenty of those to go along with a few other near shot-clock violations because UWO often forced the ball out of Kranz's hands and made Point go with Plan B and sometimes Plan C or worse.

Well deserved. They've been hot...that's just the type of season that could make that big run. I think that EC has quietly been sitting pretty this season as well. Doesn't seem like a lot of noise has been made about them this season though.

Had some minutes to start wondering what some of the upcoming matchups are going to look like and man, it looks like some of these games are going to be playoff atmospheres down the stretch! Get your travel shoes on and hit up some of those matchups because all of us are going to want some info to get excited about as we head into the WIAC tourney and post-season.

With that said, here's what I see happening (or maybe hoping) with the regular season outcomes...

UWEC      13-3
UWWW    13-3
UWSP      13-3
UWST      12-4
UWO         7-9
UWL          7-9
UWP         5-11
UWSUP     1-15
UWRF       1-15

I am saying WW, SP and ST all beat EC once this time around...could go either way but should be very interesting.

What are everyone else's thoughts?

Where would UWW's two losses come from?  Obviously Point, but who else?

Seriously??? I agree 100% with the terrible shooting.....but to say one of two reasons they lost is bad coaching is stupidity.......you don't have to be at the game to know they got out played in just about every aspect of the game....I just find it amazing how "great" coaches are when teams are winning but the first "bad" loss and it all of the sudden isn't the players fault....I am not saying that coaching has nothing to do with it but putting in the top two reasons a team loses by almost 20 is ridiculous........as for Kranz needing to get the ball more...I wasn't there so I can't make a fare assumption but my guess (from looking at stats) is that about 50% of the touches inside got kicked out for lower percentage shots.....which means ALL of their inside players should have taken a few more higher percentage shots rather than kicking it out when they felt the pressure from the D...

I am loving the race right now....can't wait to see how it finishes out!!

I can't speak for shootfromthe arc, but one real possibility would be against Stout at Johnson Fieldhouse.

WW trounced us on their court, that's a fact.  But there is a reason they call it "home court advantage".  Regardless, Stout would have to play much better in the next game to earn the W.

shootfromthearc

Yeah, I'm guessing that Stout gets revenge for the other loss...

badgerwarhawk

Zorn and Johnson Fieldhouse remain the only two venues in which Coach Carollo has yet to get a W.

What is it in the stats that hints at the number of touches the low post gets in a game, Crazy4.  I'm curious what numbers you crunch to reach that conclusion.    Kranz only took five shots in the game.  I wasn't there so I don't know how many times she touched it.  Obviously her relative felt it wasn't enough.

If Eau Claire outplayed SP in "just about every aspect of the game" one could argue that they were poorly prepared or not ready to play and that's coaching.   I don't know if that's what happened or not but the argument isn't "ridiculous" on it's merits.
