Looks like the WIAC will be pretty tight again this year.  Looks like a four team race between EC, SP, Stout, and WW.  River is playing well right now, but they did get beat by 23 against Stout.  Should be an interesting season.

Sorry, Flash.  I lost my head.  I promise it won't happen again.  Please don't tell any of your buddies on the MIAC or WIAC football boards.  My reputation would be ruined.  Add to the chaos, BGbacker just called me overrated on the men's board.  And if BDB reads this, I could lose my job.

STOUTGUY   BLue Devil Bob told me in person minutes after you posted your last post.  he is watching you

Three teams in the national top 13 in mid December. Should be quite the year for the WIAC.  The battle for conference will now begin. Any predictions on the top three finishers and the number of loses for each? I don't see any surviving without at least 2 conference loses. I see Stout as number four but beating EC and WW in the process. What say you?

EC   13-3
SP   13-3
WW 12-4
ST    11-5
LC    10-6
RF     7-9
Platt 3-13
OSH 3-13
SUP  0-16

I don't know.  I think that River is going to make the top 6 to qualify for WIAC postseason.  I was just trying to get to 72-72 for the season.  I think that LC is going to upset some teams at home this season.  The combo of Hunter and Wahl is pretty tough even though they are 0-2 right now.  Just for discussions stake.

Voice of the Titans

Looks pretty close to how it may end up. Who do you have with the tiebreaker at 13-3?

I'll give it a coin toss.   :)  Too close to call

WIAC Player of the Week

Julia Hirssig, a 5-foot, 11-inch forward, led UW-Stout to identical 80-57 wins over UW-River Falls, Dec. 10, and UW-Oshkosh, Dec. 13.

Against the Falcons, Hirssig poured in a game-high and season-best 25 points, shooting 9-of-12 from the field and 7-of-11 from the free throw line. She collected a game-high 11 rebounds (seven defensive) and had three blocked shots

Against the Titans, she scored a game-best 22 points, again hitting 9-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-7 from the line.Hirssig grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds (six defensive), had two blocked shots and one steal.

On the week, Hirssig scored 47 points, shot 18-of-24 from the floor (75.0 percent), 11-of-18 from the line (61.1 percent), had 25 rebounds (12 offensive, 13 defensive), five blocked shots and a steal.

Emphasis added to insure that defensive stats are noticed... ;)

I did like how they put in the defensive boards this week.

I would have given it to Witt, but doesn't really matter.   ;)

I think it's the coach's writeup - and defense is important to Coach T... ;)

As to Witt, just curious as to your reasoning?

Looking strictly at defense - Hirssig had 13 defensive boards, 5 blocked shots and 1 steal compared to Witt's 7 defensive boards, 0 blocks and 5 steals.

Add in the offense - Hirssig had 47 points and 14 offensive boards vs. Witt's 32 points and 2 offensive rebounds.

Hirssig appears to win both the offensive and defensive comparison.  Am I missing something? ???

Do I have to settle this Stout POY vs EC POY every week?   :D ;)

Witt's efficency rating for the 12/10 game was slightly better, +30 to +26 but Hirssig smoked her in the second game 12/13, +29 to +13.   So...

Witt's efficency rating for the two games was +43.
Hirssig's efficency rating for the the two games was +55.

Advantage Hirssig.

IMO, I think this board get the Defensive board of the week.  Gotta walk on pins and needles ;)

UWW wins at UWO, 65-49.  UWW was up by 25pts with 3min left.

Still waiting for WW to play another good team like SP. Not saying WW is bad, but other than SP, their competition has been a cake-walk - EASY May hurt them when they get to the good teams like RF, Stout, EC and the remaining game with SP. Does however seem they are getting better. Going to be a tough year in the WIAC.
