Eau Claire led for the first seven minutes before the WARHAWKS went ahead 12-9 and built the lead to as many as 14 points prior to the half ending with them up by 10 points, 34-24.  After taking the lead the WARHAWKS never trailed in the game though they never led by more than 8 points before pairs of free throws by Kelsey Hendrickson and Nicole Bundy in the final :28 put them up by final 12 point difference, 73-61.

Kelsey Hendrickson and Tiffany Morton each scored 19 points for the WARHAWKS.  Hendrickson went 3-5 from beyond the arch and Morton led the team with 8 rebounds.  Free throws played a significant role in the outcome as the WARHAWKS went 23-31 and Eau Claire 9-12.

Mesick and Anderson played very physical in the low post.  Arciszewski led Eau Claire with 18 points and 7 rebounds.  Aggressive defense from the WARHAWK guards kept Witt from finding the "Witt Zone" and held her to just 5 points on 2-7 shooting.

It was a funny game with WHITEWATER never having quite enough to put Eau Claire away and Eau Claire never having quite enough to go ahead.

Huge week for Stout.  With Point and WW coming to town they have a chance to really shake up the top of the conference standings.

"Michelle Miller" and "top official" have never been used in the same sentence before.  Of all the shaky officials in the league she's one of the worst.

Agreed there. When you have a game called "The Michelle Miller Game" referenced at a certain WIAC school, it can't be a good thing. In fact, I think she's signing scorebooks now as Mickey Miller.

My concern with the officiating is when one official makes 75% of the calls. There are refs out there that I have seen blow their whistle a mere 4-5 times in a whole game. And if I hear one more official utter the phrase, "Not my call, coach." when asked about a call/non-call, I'm going to just flip out.

That being said, I have figured out something that had been bugging me for a long time. I'm guessing that in 2009, it is now OK to call 3-seconds again. It sure wasn't in 2008. But that explains a lot.

They will need to play a LOT better than they played in LaCrosse last Saturday, if they are going to shake up the standings.

They just didn't seem in sync.  I'm not taking anything away from UWL, though, they played a very good game.

They all did last season.

Generally, (for WIAC women's teams) you want to have 4 or less regional losses going into the conference tourney.  Its a pretty safe bet that 5 regional losses would give you a Pool C Bid.  Six losses is a toss up.  If you have played a tough regional non-confernece schedule, I would slightly give the team the advantage of getting in.  Seven losses is looking doubtful.  A lot depends on other teams and how many upsets occur in conference tourneys.

The Champ

Stout leads at the half, 24 - 18, but Point explodes in the second half and wins 63 - 54.

buf

UWEC over UWO, 59-44.  Ugly first half by UWO, ugly second half by UWEC.  If EC wants to make a run at the conference title, they need to do better offensively.

Other scores not mentioned:

UWL over UWP, 72-62

RF over Sup, 72-59

Wow, impressive win for Point at Johnson Fieldhouse. That place has been a house of horrors for the Pointers.  If I'm not mistaken that's only like two UWSP wins there in the last 15 years or so.

Really, any visiting team win at Johnson Fieldhouse is impressive.  That place is tough.

I'd say.  I think the stat is that Stout was something like 72-8 there in the last 8 years against conference foes.

Few quick comments for better or for worse:
Heard the EC got "hosed" by the refs and if Witt played more (because of less fouls) EC would have prevailed - open to opinions on this.

Stout will prevail this Saturday at home against WW. Still think WW will lose a few more.  It's time to let Hirssig play and play and play and play. She is an all American Mark - let her go do what she does so well ALL game. Must be saving her for the playoffs. Heard she may transfer to EC (hah hah).

RF could give EC trouble at Zorn Sweet Zorn. Be careful EC. EC does seem to really be focusing on there great defense and moving up even another notch - it stiffled OsK in the first half - I mean nada for OsK. EC is also very focused on moving the ball around. It looks good, they do it great BUT they are not going to the basket. Can't win if you don't go to the basket. H. Archie is not getting baseline with the new new set up.

To me SP is the team to beat in this conference.

Enuff for now

EC holds off a pesky RF team, 55-51.  Again, the defense pulls through after another lackluster offensive performance.  RF shoots only 27% for the game.  EC shot 40% for the game, but almost all of their points had to come from either points in the paint or on FTs.  I only recall one FG in the 2nd half coming from outside the paint (a Witt 3).  EC needs to find the shooting confidence that they displayed early on this season.  The last few games it has just been ice cold.
