Stout wins 82 - 70 over LaCrosse.

It was a balanced Stout offense that took down the Warhawks tonight.

???

Maybe 01:28:36 am is a little past your bedtime.   ;)

You didn't notice that I had the score wrong.... It was 80 - 72.... :-[

Eagles/Warhawks - same difference.... ;D

Semifinal predictions, if snow doesn't cause a cancelation. WW over EC by 12. The EC woman have not been shooting well. It is "Holy Heck" to play at WW. If EC wins it will be because of containing Morten. EC really put the brakes on Julia H in their recent game.

I will say that EC did really put the effort in to beat a very persistent RF team last night. They had the determination to make things work and get the "W" - not like the debacle at RF a few weeeks ago. Also EC let Witt and Fermstad dribble right through  the press as opposed to running the "Dreaded Press Play" that caused them the loss at RF. It is good to learn from your losses.

And the upset, Stout over SP. I think SP could get caught looking ahead and Stout has the energy to keep up with SP. SP has had a little slipage recently and I think they're ripe for an upset.  The game I would love to see in the finals is Stout - EC but it ain't going to happen!  We will see if I am wrong as usual.

Wash U. moving up doesn't really matter though, since they've already clinched an automatic spot.

Yes, but could it matter in hosting situations?  Ideally, there would be 2 hosts per region (I know that it could be more/less).  Right now if the Central does get two hosts, you would think that IWU and Wash U would get them, leaving potentially 3 WIAC teams traveling.

Let me try to end this right now.  I would not think SP will be looking ahead to the WIAC finals with Stout coming to Berg.  I believe Stout won the last meeting in Berg and that was the last meeting overall.  I would never overlook an opponent that just beat me, and I doubt SP is going to as well.  I think this could be a disrespect to Stout saying that they can only beat SP if they are overlooking them.  I mean if SP was able to win, they wouldn't even know who their opponent would be yet!  This is absurd.

Also about the regional rankings and hosting, I do not know how many of those west teams would host over the WIAC tournament champion.  Based on this weeks rankings, I think who ever wins the WIAC tournament, except Stout since they are not ranked, will host that opening weekend.  I just don't see a school from the UMAC, MIAC, or IIAC hosting over a WIAC school.  I am biased on this account, but just guessing.

So UsuallyWrong - is your thinking that the central region will have three hosting schools - IWU, WashU, and the winner of the WIAC. But the WIAC will play host to some western region schools? Do you think this also happens if Eau Claire pulls the upset and wins the WIAC tourney?

I have been trying to figure this out too. Of course guessing parts of the bracket is sometimes like guessing the beginning of a circle.... :)

In the case of UWSP and UWW you have to consider the men's program as well.  This year the women have priority for a 1st/2nd round hosting and the men have priority for the Sectional round in the event that one school has both programs selected to host.  Certainly could come into play once the brackets are done.

Yes and also in the case of WashU...

Just Bill (and anyone else who has thoughts about this and my previous question) - obviously we won't see the last regional ranking, but here's another hypothetical:
WashU wins against Chicago (if WashU loses to Chicago this question won't even matter)
WW or SP win the WIAC

Does WW or SP jump WashU in that last regional rankings? or does it not even matter because either one of the two schools will host teams from other regions anyway (for the WIAC winner hosting schools from the West, Central, and/or Great Lakes and for WashU hosting schools from the Central, South, and/or Great Lakes)?

I guess my answer is I have no idea.  I think the margin in between Wash U, SP, and WW is pretty close right now since they have all been 2-4 the first three rankings.  Its a good question.

The reason I do not see the West Schools being able to host is pretty much just regional records.  The UMAC and MIAC are fairly close to WI, so I would guess they would just get bused to EC, WW or SP.  I do think EC will move ahead of WW and SP if they can win the conference tournament.

There is also a team from the SLIAC that will most likely go to Wash U, and teams from MWC and the Northern Athletic Conference that will travel to a Wisconsin School or IWU.

My context for an upset is that Stout is the 4th seed and SP the number one seed. If Stout wins, it will be a huge upset. JMM

I got ya, but I doubt SP is looking ahead.

In a low scoring affair, EC up 18-5 over UWW, 4min left 1st half.

UWW shooting 9% so far.
