EC up 26-8 at the half.  Holding a team like UWW to 8 points on their home court is absolutely fantastic.  Great defense by the Golds.

However, in the back of my mind, I feel like UWW could explode anytime.  They are just too good of a team to be held this low for this long.  Again though, if EC plays the defense they played in the 1st half, it will be tough for UWW to come back.

Stunning!

SP 7, Stout 4 - 12:55 to go 1st.  Slow start for both teams.

EC hammers UWW, 61-34.  Great performance by EC.  Excellent defense! Morton held to 7pts and 6rebs.  UWW only shoots 23%.  All EC players played well.  One more to go.  Go Stout!

EC pounds WW  with defense, defense, defense. WW held to 8 points in the first half. EC wins by 25+ points. EC goes to final. The "bigs - Plendil and Messick" for EC hold Morton to 7. Last week Hirsig was held to 4. The big question does defense win championship tournements?

UWSP 20, Stout 11. 6:04 1st

Stout shooting 24%, UWSP 30%.

Looks like SP didn't overlook Stout and wins by 12.  Point did a really nice job on the glass despite getting out-rebounded.  SP made enough FTS to keep Stout at bay to end the game.  Stout starting fouling at the 3:37 mark in the 2nd half to really prolong this game, but SP made a majority of them.  This Stevens Point team may only have 1-2 first team all conference players, but they really have a balanced team.  Flease steps up with 17 pts tonight and Bandow finishes with 13, both off the bench.  Thats really hard to game plan when the 6th and 7th players have 30 between them.

Looks like EC played a great game against WW.  I would ask someone how it went, but with only 132 people there I doubt anyone would respond.  Tough when only 132 people fill the stands for a top 12 showdown, but of course it gets tough with the weather and with the men playing in a top 10 game as well.

Sets up EC v. SP, round 4.

I think this puts WW on the bubble now.  They have no shot at hosting and I would think a return trip to IWU might be a possibility if they make it at all.  I expect St. Norberts, if they win the MWC, and EC to jump them in the central region rankings that don't get made public.    They have to hope that all the teams that are supposed to win their AQs do. Big loss for WW.  On the other hand, I think EC and SP are now in the tournament with their wins tonight.

Been a long time since I posted. Had the opportunity to watch Stout at Point tonight. Got to admit, I didn't think Point was a top 10 team earlier based on previous seasons and teams that have played in the WIAC that have just dominated but this team has put it together and plays great together. It's fun to watch things executed successfully versus random this and that. Three words: Flees for President. Nuff said about that.

Stout - well, amazing to see a program so down in my opinion. They either put it together or have nothing. Not sound, not talented in my opinion (in general). It was dismal to watch them foul with 7 minutes to go to try to stay in it. Had Point shot better, this one isn't even close. Good luck to the Pointer women on Saturday as they go round 4 with EC.

As for the WW loss...wow. It's tourney time and you put up 34 - AND you're ranked #4. Give me a break. ZERO excuses, they do NOT deserve to be in the tourny. Best of luck to all the teams. I hope Point doesn't one and out again.

The entire season means nothing and the NCAA should base their decision on the last game played.  Just forget the rest of it, it was meaningless.   The worst game we've played in 11 years should decide our fate.   No offense intended but that doesn't make much sense.

That being said we certainly didn't do anything to help our chances last night.  EC sat in a 2-3 zone and our shooters couldn't toss the ball in the Atlantic Ocean.  It was embarrassing.

I was also at the game and I don't get where you say that Stout doesn't have talent.  Hirrsig and Edwards are likely first teamers.  They have a good team, it is just tough going up against the EC, SP, and WW the last two years.  Stout is going to be ok.  They have good coaching and will most likely be the favorite for conference in the preseason.

As for WW,  I think saying that they do not deserve to be in the tournament is a little brash.  Teams have bad games.  A loss is a loss, doesn't matter by 30 or 1, it just looks worse if it is 30, but means the same thing.  They are going to have a tough road if they do make it, but you never know.

Hirrsig will be one of the three finalists for Player of the Year.

Slow start?  They had nearly 13 minutes to match Whitewater's output for the half!

Anway, ouch BW...that just looked painful to watch.  Have no fear, I think they'll get a Pool C bid...just like the men.
