Carroll is legit this year.  It won't be uncommon for them to have 4 or 5 players in double digit scoring every game.

But Carroll has done this to WIAC teams in the past, where they get a decent WIAC team to play on home court less than 24 hours after a Friday night game and pull off the upset.  WIAC teams aren't used to the Fri/Sat games.

After reading everyone's comments about Stout on here, I thought they was better than a "decent" WIAC team.  And Carroll might have a good year, but they were picked for 3rd in their conference.  I know tha SID's don't always have all the information, but they didn't get a single 1st place vote.  This is a bad loss for Stout that will most likely hurt them in March.

RF gets a last second shot to win by 1, 68-67 over Macalester.  RF trailed almost the whole way.

Point over Wisconsin Lutheran, 93-66

Superior over St Scholastica, 70-63

St Norberts destroys EC, 75-49.  EC got down early with a 23-0 run by Norberts.

UWO loses to Ripon, 66-61.  I watched this online.  UWO seems improved over last season.  They have added some very good players.  Watch out for Baerenwald.  A lot of early turnovers hurt them in this one.

On a side note, I noticed that Baganz now plays for St. Norberts.

UWW over Coe, 69-63 in OT.  I watched most of this one on the Coe video feed.  UWW is very fortunate to pull this one out.  They trailed by 7 with 1:10 left in regulation.

UWW had a 10-point lead at the half.  However, they only scored 2pts in the 1st 10min of the 2nd half allowing Coe to take the lead.

It wasn't pretty but it will be marked down in the left hand column.  When we blew the chance to win it in regulation by missing one of two free throws I thought we were toast.  Sometimes better lucky than good.  Heidi Sonntag goes 8-14 from the floor including 3-5 from beyond the arch to lead the team with 24 points.  Dana Thompson goes 8-12 for 22 points and pulls down 13 rebounds.  Kelsey Hendrickson added 11 points.  WHITEWATER takes 71 shots from the floor to just 46 for Coe but only shoots 35% to Coe's 46%.  Fortunately for the WARHAWKS Coe turns the ball over 33 times, 16 of which were steals, five by Hendrickson.

The team will remain in Iowa for Thanksgiving and play Simpson and Bueana Vista Friday-Saturday.

EC moves to 0-3 on the season with a 3-point home loss to Northwestern.  Looks like it could be a tough year.  They are playing a lot of younger players, so hopefully the team will improve as we go on.  EC needs a win tomorrow night in the 3rd place game against Carleton.

UWW over Buena Vista, 83-68.  Sonntag with another good game.

I was down in Milwaukee last weekend (grandson in UWM middle school honors band deal) and was able to attend both games.

This looks like a team that is a work in progress.  Lot's of youngsters playing hard, but not always playing smart.  This is the time to hopefully work things out and get prepared for the the WIAC season.

Cardinal Stritch had played 6 games already, IIRC.  Their play showed it.

Going over today for the Stout tournament.  Hopefully things are starting to gel - especially after getting that first "W" earlier this week.

As to the losses incurred already hurting in March - winning the WIAC Tournament cures all the hurt... ;)

Bears rule

The Champ and buf, have no fear EC and Stout will be fine when the yong ones get some experience.

Good weekend to see how thw WIAC matches up with other conferences.

With the EC loss I see an 9-2 weekend.

One loss EC and one loss Oshkosh.

Point loses at #6 Illinois Wesleyan, 84-80 (if the live stats are correct).  I guess Point had a 76-70 lead, but committed a bunch of turnovers down the stretch (33 for the game).  The live stats were having problems, so I hope this info is correct.

EC picks up their first win, over Carleton, MN.

Note to Badgerwarhawk: Have your "Slum Lord, Suger Daddy" bring some extra chairs when you come to Menomonie next Sat.  We have 21 nice players on our roster and we need some extra furniture.   That will be the third game in SIX days for Stout  with an opponent ranked in the top 25 in the country.  St. Bens today, Point Wed., and you guys Sat.  Wow.  Also, everybody keep feeling sorry for Stout because of all these losses.  That's the way we like it.  I, for one, think this Stout team is going to be just fine.   Julia Hirssig had 23 points in 15 playing minutes and the new kids looked really good in a 90-52 win over St. Scholastica.  All 21 kids had quality minutes.  Is that even possible?

EC did pick up it's first win on Saturday. Good team effort. EC is very young and as a group has only this year in terms of playing together. There are some very, very quality shooters on the team. EC will lose a few more games in as they grow. They have also been hampered by injury. Plendi had little playing time in Friday's loss. If she had been in for a majority of the game like Saturday, there would have been no loss on Friday. Will be interesting to see when it will all come together. They could be quite the force given Messick and Plendil.
Other huge problem (as has been for the past few years) the failure of making any defensive effort on stopping opponents 3 point shooting. I don't get it. This killed them against St. Ben's and against St. Norbert. Seemed like they were very, very willing to let opponent have the 3 pointers - not good. Could there be a philosophy of not worrying about giving teams the three. Hope not. This also hurt them over the past two years.
I do expect EC to be in the thick of things as the season progress. There are really alot of offensive weapons on this team. The young guard play seems good on offense - got to question the outside defense, however. Got to defend that 3 point shot or there will be many more losses than wins.

WHITEWATER wrapped up their weekend in Iowa with a 83-70 win over Simpson.  The WARHAWKS jumped out in front with a 17-2 run in the first four minutes of play but Simpson cut it to three points twice before the half ended with the WARHAWKS on top 40-32.  WHITEWATER ran off another 11-1 run early in the second half to go up 51-37 but again Simpson responded with a run of their own and cut the margin to 56-54 with just under ten minutes to play.  WHITEWATER increased the lead to 69-59 and other than one basket it remained in double figures for the last five minutes of the game.

Nicole Bundy paced four WARHAWK players in double figures with 23 points (5-6 three-pointers).  Dana Thompson added 15 points and led the team with 8 rebounds.  Heidi Sontag had 13 points and Chantel Burg rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 points.  Kelsey Hendrickson had a team high 6 assists and 7 steals.

SG, we've got 21 on our roster too so we'll need plenty of furniture.

Stout defeats St. Bens, 85-76.  Good win for Stout.   St Bens is almost always 1st or 2nd in their conference.  Hirrsig with 22pts, 9rebs
