Well, I just completed an analysis of stats for the past 4 seasons including coaches's play off records both home and away . Here is my prediction for tonight.

EC   68
WW 73

ST   73  (J.H. plays the game of her life)
SP   84

See you all in WW on Saturday. I'll be wearing the egg.

EC gets a road "W" at La Crosse, 68-62. Mesick and Plendl again the key, but Laura Olson chipped in with 13 and had just one turnover. 'Golds had 14, but that's a pretty good number for them lately. They also knocked down their FT's down the stretch.

Can't figure out why Mesick is playing D3 basketball.  She would be a welcome addition to a ton of D2 teams.  Wouldn't be a stretch to say she is the best D3 player I have ever seen play over the last 4 years.

Is it just me, or is this topic being drug out by someone who has continually mischaracterized what was originally said here???

"The best D3 player I have ever seen play over the last 4 years" has been conveniently been skipped, and changed into the best player in the WIAC, which is not what is being said.

Seems to me the key inference that should be drawn here is "seen play" suggests seen in person... (What, heaven forbid, if PRF2009A has not seen Stout play over the last five years??? Egads; Hirssig would therefore not be considered in one's opinion. Duh.)

Let me, using an analogy, explain this slowly, for anyone who doesn't seem to understand here, and wants to continually misconstrue things with facts, rather than accept what was an opinion based merely on one's observation:

Joe Mauer may be the best baseball player I have ever seen IN PERSON over the last five years. But I haven't seen Albert Pujols, A-Rod and many others over the last five years.
Now one can argue by throwing stats around all day that they are all better than Mauer, right?

But the fact remains, it would not be a stretch to say Mauer is the best ballplayer I have seen play over the last five years...

Comprende???

As long as you took the time to go back to late January to find the original post, why didn't you take the time the time to quote my post immediately after PRF2009A's back in January?

Maybe because I addressed all the points you belabored above?

Quote from: The ChampI have to agree that Mesick is a very good player.

But you haven't watched much WIAC Women's BB if she is the best player you have seen play over the last 4 years.

I think one could argue that she hasn't even been the best player on her own team over the last 4 years.

Players like Heidi Arciszewski, Michelle Burns and Heather Witt could seriously contend for that distinction.

I know you watch a lot of UWEC BB.

I want to know if you rate Hannah Messick ahead of Heidi Arciszewski, Michelle Burns and Heather Witt over the last 4 years?  I have watched all 4 of them play multiple games, and I wouldn't.

But you have probably watched 3 or 4 times as many games, and I'll defer to your more perfect knowledge.

As I posted earlier - right from the start I've acknowledged that Messick is a very good player, and I truly believe that.

But I'm not willing to call her a great player yet as PRF claimed after the EC win on Tuesday night.  And I wouldn't try and reaffirm that position by stating that she's great because she plays defense.

I questioned his opinion, and was looking for him to either post information to back up his opinion or agree that he might have been overstating things.

Instead of backing up his position, he took his ball and went home.

I have seen almost every EC game over the past three years including most of the away games. Hope Tourney, Augustana, La Crosse, Whitewater, Ill Weyslan NCAA, Simpson NCAA, Ripon Tourney...
Her is what I would say:
Messick is on a par with Heidi, it is showing this year. What gets me with both of them is the quiet consistency in scoring 15-18 points. At the games you don't realize it but when you read the stats afterwards, the points are always there. Messick is a natural. Meaning she just has the form and ability. Same with Heidi. If Messick doesn't get hurt, she willl have the same type of season next year - very consistent. Her defense play is really coming on. This so far is an area Heidi has her beat (in my opinion) but again she has really been scrapping lately.
I think Burnsie had the ability to take over a game for the Blugolds when they really neededd it. While Archie some, Burnsie would more. Hannah seems to be on this even keel - like Heidi. Not so much of one to make take over the game.My thoughts.
One other big thing for Burnsie, when Messick arrived, there were changes made to where Burnsie played - she was moved more to the outside. She made this adjustment really welll.
When Plendil was introduced in the line up a year ago January, Messick did not adjust all that well. I beleive Messick was positioned more to shoot from the left side back then. They needed to move her back to the right because her shooting was affected.
Finally I was a Witt fan and pretty cool on Laura Olson. That has changed Laura  is a great player. Not as good defensively yet - but she will get there. Will proably surpass Witt - who I think was fantastic.
Bingae is also a natural shooter. Saw her really step up against Stout a week ago in the comeback. She will take over many games in the future.

Some early scores:

UWW over EC 12-5, 16min.  UWW 3-3 on 3s.  Plendl picks up 2 fouls in less than 3min

Point over Stout 10-5, 15min

buf

Halftime scores:

EC over UWW 38-37

Stout over Point 37-34.  Live stats are at 22sec left.

buf

2nd half scores:

UWW is tied with UWEC at 47, 13min.  EC in big trouble with both Linder and Olson on the bench with 4 fouls.

Point fired out of the gates to start the 2nd half and ended up going up by as much as 9.  With 9min to go Point up 60-59

buf

UWW on a 9-2 run since Olson went to the bench with 4 fouls.  A couple of turnovers have contributed to the run.  UWW up 54-49

buf

EC now went on a run to take a 2 point lead.  However, missed 3 FTs and turned the ball over twice in a row.  Hendrickson hits a 3 and UWW has the ball up one, 6min left.  Hendrickson is really carrying the Hawks on offense

buf

Olson has fouled out with 5min left.

Point up 74-68, with 2:30 left

buf

Unbelievable, Linder fouls out seconds after Olson does.  EC in big trouble, down 2, UWW ball

buf

Bingea setting up the EC offense.  Thats just weird!  I don't think that I have followed an EC game this year in which Olson has gotten in foul trouble.

buf

Bingea banks in a 3 for a 1point lead, UWW hits 2 fTs.  UWW up 1.  Jump ball.  UWW ball 2min.  Mansdorf running point for EC

buf

Awful foul called on Plendl.  Even UWW announcers say so.  Should have been 3-seconds in my opinion.  UWW hits both FTs, up 3, 1:40 left.

buf

Moran hits a baseline J, UWW up 5.  Mesick gets bailed out on a forced shot, misses 1st FT.  Timeout.  Not looking good for EC.

Point beats Stout, 82-74.

buf

UWW wins, 73 to 68.

EC outshoots UWW 55% to 34% and outrebouded them 42-24 and ends up losing because......................... they lose the turnover margin 28-7.
