Since Champ is getting defensive already and it's barely even September....

Defensive???

Yes, defensive was definitely the word I was looking for.

I have no doubt that it was the word you were looking for - as you were trying to start some crap...

What's funny, is that in attempting to start some crap after a legitimate well thought out post, you just exposed youself (again) as the one who is hyper defensive and totally incapable of intelligent sports discussion....   :D

When you made your post quoted above - and people corrected you - your response:  "Thank you everyone for pointing out your team's best players.  Discussing elite players/coaches seems to be quite a touchy subject in Wisconsin..."

Of course, that was a terribly incorrect assessment based on the first responses to your post:

Quote from: ChampI have to agree that Mesick is a very good player.

But you haven't watched much WIAC Women's BB if she is the best player you have seen play over the last 4 years.

I think one could argue that she hasn't even been the best player on her own team over the last 4 years.

Players like Heidi Arciszewski, Michelle Burns and Heather Witt could seriously contend for that distinction.

Quote from: Just BillThere's a LOT of WIAC players in recent history who would have succeeded at D-II. Even some that would have done well at a mid-major D-I.

In his response, Badger Warhawk did mention a player from his favorite team - but had another player listed first:

QuoteMcKenzie Hunter, Tiffany Morton

When you make a bold post (as above) and get questioned about it - and then have to make up lies to make up lies in order to defend your post - that is being hyper defensive...

Exposed - again... ;D

I thought of doing something like that, but decided against it.

Hilarious.... ;D

Now you're going to be on his crap list too - especially if you don't go on and on how GREAT Messick plays tomorrow night....

Did you know, she's the greatest player in the WIAC over the last 5 years... ::)

Not on my crap list, not worried about how Messick plays tomorrow, already stated I was just complimenting a competitor, not sure what else you want to hear, will be more careful about complimenting players outside of Stout.

Good luck to all teams playing tomorrow night.  Signing off until next year.  Peace and safety to all, including Champ.

I thought you had been establishing that my Mesick comment was out of line for the last year so there really isn't anything to expose.

Again, I apologize for any hard feelings that comment caused you.  I hope you can one day get over it

Flag on the play.  Penalty for useless rehashing of a six-month old argument.  Five yard penalty to both of you, repeat the down.

I think that penalty includes "loss of down"

Penalty graciously accepted.  Tacking on self imposed 1 month ban to WB-WIAC Board.  Hopefully no teams have injuries during camp.  See you when the season starts!

I think SOME people are overly optimistic as to just how talented their team(s) will be this coming year. Yes, Stout has once again brought in a small country's worth of players, however a lot of those names mentioned, including transfers are not going to be enough to replace the class that they just lost. Nothing against the kids that they've brought in, but those players are a step down from what they've had in the past. Make no mistake, this is UWSP's race to lose. After that, and perhaps the most talent laden team in the WIAC in 2010-11 is UWRF. RF has the toughness, athleticism and size to beat anyone in D3. Here's my predicted order of finish...

1. UWSP
2. UWRF
3. UWW
4. Lax
5. EC
6. Stout
7. Oshkosh
8. Platteville
9. Superior

I see EC, Stout and Oshkosh all battling it out for slots 5-7, those spots are really a coin flip.

Hoop Junkie,

UWRF? What happened with them last year? Won there first 10-15 games and fell apart. They lost two seniors starters, I just do not see it.

UWSP and everyone else, agree. Last year Coach Enger did a great job coaching them up to get the team where she did, this year, she could only mess it up by over caoching. They are LOADED.

Only brought up the old argument as someone got into posting worthless crap.

I apologize to the rest of you for my part in the distraction.

I agreed (in my original post on the topic) that Stout lost a lot.  No argument there.  I didn't try and say that the new crop of recruits will make Stout an immediate contender for the WIAC crown.

What I did say, was: "Things might not be as grim for Stout as you think...."

Stout finished 10 - 6 last year and in a tie for 4th place.  7th place (the placement that I had a problem with) was 5 - 11 last year.

I think it will be tough for Stout to improve on last year's record.  But I don't see them dropping from 10 - 6 to 5 - 11 (average record of 7th place team in the WIAC over the last decade).

That is the point that I tried to make, before someone started throwing crap around.

This board is intended to discuss the sport.  That is what I did in my original post on the topic.

I'm good with this list ... other than Platteville at 8. I don't see them winning more than 1 or 2 WIAC games.

They have one of the better backcourts in the WIAC and have added the best post player in the conference in transfer Danielle Jorgenson. I would say they'll be better than they were a year ago.

Out_Of_My_Kitchen

I had WW so low because I am just unsure about their back court and have no idea who they are bringing in.  I haven't heard anything but if someone else has please share.  They have a very talented front court with Thompson, Kumarow, and Burg.  The best one there is probably Kumarow.  She is a stud.

I like SP, La Crosse and River Falls.  All three should slug it out for a yhe byes.  I can't see another team really challenging those three for the top spot.

After looking at the rosters I think this is Oshkosh's year to make some noise.  A lot of starters back.

Stout won't be 5-11.  I could see 7-9 though.  I don't know if they can beat SP, LC, or RF.  Thats six losses right there and EC is always a battle for them.  EC is a bit of a sleeper with their size and the played really well down the stretch.  They were a couple minutes of making it to the WIAC final.

Looks like a three team race.  Stout and WW take a step back.  RF takes a big step up into the top four and getting a homecourt game.

Just Bill

I can't count the number of times in the last 15 years, I've heard some variation on the phrase, "This is the year that La Crosse and/or River Falls step up."  Still waiting.  When it happens, I'll congratulate them, but I won't be expecting it until it does.

(I've also heard the phrase, "Stout is down, they'll fall back this year," quite often.  That doesn't seem to happen either.)

I concur - which is why I had the problem with someone saying they'd be 7th or worse.

Quote from: Just Bill(I've also heard the phrase, "Stout is down, they'll fall back this year," quite often.  That doesn't seem to happen either.)

I've heard that when Stout lost "All-Time All-WIAC Women's Basketball Selections"
(listed alphabetically) Stacie Anderson, Erin Churchill, Kelsey Duoss, Charlee Edwards, Lindsey Erichsen, Tanya Halbach, Molly Hendricks, Sara Kahl, Savanah Oeltjen, Laura Verdegan and Amy Zelinger over the last decade.

Yes the losses of Julia Hirssig, Megan Maslowski and Kim Stokke are some big holes to fill.  But that doesn't mean the UW Stout Basketball falls off the end of the earth as some of the doomsayers are trying to proclaim.

That's all I was trying to say earlier.
