Woah! That is really weird and a big hit to the Falcons. Yesterday after I posted I checked the roster just to make sure she was there and she was.

So either two things- they want to "gray shirt" her which means she can't be on the roster once they play a game. Obviously highly unlikely.

Or she left the team. I think injury redshirt is out cause you can keep a kid on your roster if that happens. I wouldn't be shocked if she left the team.

Off to a very slow start plagued by turnovers and missed shots the WARHAWKS fell behind by 13 points, 34-21, at the midway mark against Calvin in the Wisconsin Lutheran tournament.  However the second half proved more productive as the WARHAWKS started fast closing the gap to a few points in the first 15 minutes and pulling ahead with a couple of minutes to play winning by six, 60-54.  Dana Thompson was the only WARHAWK player to score in double points as the senior center tallied a double/double 28 points, 11 rebounds.  It was a turnover plagued game with the two teams combining for 52 turnovers.  In addition to Thompson's performance another indication of the difference between this year and last year was the WARHAWKS attempting only four three point shots.  Free throws were the difference in this one as the WARHAWKS went 23 for 30 while Calvin was 12-15.

The WARHAWKS will play the winner of Heidelberg and the host Wisconsin Lutheran.

Also.....

UWL is destroying Edgewood, something like 52-16 with 16min left.

RF with a narrow win over Simpson

Word is that Danielle Jorgenson left the team at UWRF earlier this week at her father's insistence.  He apparently felt his daughter was "too good" to be playing at the D III level.  Furthermore, he expects her to re-enroll at UWM or another higher level program second semester and save this year of eligibility.  Since he pays the tuition, the young woman does not have a lot of options.

UWEC wins 62-48 at Millikin.  Mesick with 24pts, 14 rebs.  Christianson with 16pts (4-8 on 3s).  Cold shooting game for both teams.

Stout loses at Ripon 59-47.

Yep; was told she's trying to get back to Milwaukee.

Stout wins a close one (I think by 4) over Edgewood.  Edgewood had a couple opportunities in the last minute of the game to tie it at the FT line but missed.  UWL defeated Edgewood by nearly 50 yesterday.

So, Superior lost to UW by 37, not the 50 guessed at AND scored 40 points. I think it was a moral victory for the Yellowjacket women.

For context, Edgewood played this weekend without their two starting senior guards due to injuries. I'd be a little concerned if I was Stout and didn't take care of the Eagles in decisive manner like La Crosse did.

La Crosse just DRILLING Ripon by 30 mid-way through the 2nd half. Looked good defensively in the full court and the half court.

If we learned anything this weekend it may be that Stout's in trouble this year. I don't care who was missing; if another team in your league goes into a tourney and wins a couple games in laughers and you struggle and BARELY split ... you've got a lot of improving to do.

Phoenix rising.  This should be a fun year for me as am not going to do the broadcasts for basketball. (just the Sat. show)  This means I will be able to be as sarcastic as you are in this post and will be able to say whatever I want.  Can't wait.

Other scores:

No 2nd half comeback by UWW today, they fall to WI Lutheran, 79-68.

UWO was up 6 midway through the 2nd half but ranked St. Norberts came back to claim a 50-42 win.

EC drops one to Marian, 69-64.  Don't really know if Marian is supposed to be good or not but I was expecting an EC win.

Me thinks the WIAC (except for Point and maybe LAX) is down this season.

Oops! Just realized it is Marian, Indiana.  I was thinking it was Marian, WI from the NATHC.  Maybe not as bad of loss as I expected.
