Why hasn't Cassie Bandow played the last 2 games for UWSP?

LA RAMS

Caught UW-River Falls blowout win (74-43) over Northwestern earlier this evening along with their stirring comeback victory against defending IIAC champion Simpson yesterday.  Am so impressed with their athleticism and quickness.  They've got two very good enforcers down low in Dohrn and House and the Gregorich sisters are truly something special.  Wouldn't surprise me at all if this group finds a way to win the WIAC this year.

I had heard that Cassie had some kind of medical procedure done to one of her knees.  This was done, I believe, about 12 days ago and that she would be out 2-4 weeks from that time.  She was not suited up for last Thursday's game and she was walking with a slight limp.  The next game is Tuesday and we'll see if she is suited up or gets any minutes then.

The Lady WARHAWKS get a big win tonight defeating #3 ranked Illinois Wesleyan 74-60 in Bloomington.   Dominating the boards, 49-28 (19 offensive), the WARHAWKS took the lead to as many as twenty three before Wesleyan made a run down the stretch to close the gap.  Emily Bestor, Jamie Swanson and Katie Burton led the WARHAWKS in scoring each with eleven points.  Dana Thompson led the team in rebounding with six and Kaitlyn Thill had five steals.  The WARHAWKS never trailed in the game.

I have to admit this one took me by surprise.  It was the team's second win over a ranked team having previously beaten #24 ranked Calvin and improves the team's record to 2-1.

Wins over Calvin and IWU and a loss to Wis. Lutheran?  Bizarre.

Yeah, and I can't even find Tanya Harding on their roster! :o

Thar IS a bizarre start to the season.

Other scores:

Another surprise as Millikin knocks off Point, 73-71, in Point

UWO easily over Ripon, 69-43

RF easily over Macalester, 72-53

Stout easily over Northwestern, 72-49

UWEC uses a big 1st half to go on to win, 73-56, over #21 St. Norberts

UWP narrowly defeats Alverno, 68-63

UMD easily over Superior, 95-56

Last time I checked, UWL was easily winning over Viterbo in the 2nd half

buf

Congrats to UWW on their huge win.  I sure didn't see that one coming.  Was it last season that IWU came to UWW and won big?

Me thinks the WIAC (except for Point and maybe LAX) is down this season.

Perhaps I was a bit "quick on the trigger" on the above comment made a few days ago.

JMM

Saw EC against #21 St. Norbert. Just simply overpowered them in all aspects. If this is the real team it could be a wonderful year. Messick continues to amaze - she is the real deal. Her defense is actually beter then her offense. Plendil is doingwhat she needs to and the Blugolds have real guards! Christensen and Olson are doing good. Lots of great players and weapons here. The defense really stung St Norbert in the first half. Just locked them down. Englund had a lot of bench players in. Saw the Blugolds on Internet Video against Milikin. They did it right in that game too. See Steven's point fell to Milikin tonight. Buckle up gang, could be a wonderful year for the WIAC Women. EC seems very confident and much more mature. Also looks like WW is off to a good start as well,

JMM

Wow, WoW, WoW - way to go WW. Marvelous, simply Marvelous. Love the Woman's WIAC!

billys

Quite a night between the WIAC and CCIW
WW goes to IWU and wins but Millikin goes to Point and wins? Get out of here.

BTW- I'm afraid I'm going to be cheering against Messick by the end of the year if I am told how "amazing" "incredible" and "unbelievable" she is. Seriously, it's tired.

JMM

Got it on Messick. Believe she has close to 100 pts in the first 4 games. It is her defense that amazes me. Anyhow, got your point and will tone it down here.

La Crosse just DRILLING Ripon by 30 mid-way through the 2nd half. Looked good defensively in the full court and the half court.

If we learned anything this weekend it may be that Stout's in trouble this year. I don't care who was missing; if another team in your league goes into a tourney and wins a couple games in laughers and you struggle and BARELY split ... you've got a lot of improving to do.

I appreciate your thoughts - to an extent.  But this is the preseason....

Last year, Stout started 0 - 3, with losses to Carroll and Cardinal Stritch after the loss in the season opener with St. Cloud.  Stout lost to Carrol by 25 points.  Carroll lost twice during the regular season to Ripon - a team that was demolished by UWL in the preseason.

To open the WIAC season - Stout won 3 of the first 4 games - losing to Point, but winning against WW, UWL and EC.  All of those games happened within a period of 30 games.

The only point I'm trying to make is sometimes too much emphasis is placed on what happens in the preseason.

I really enjoy your posting, billy - keep it up!

Last night at Stout...

Congratulations to Sr. Trish VanVreede last night!  Had her career best 23 point night and a double/double with 11 rebounds - both highs for the game.

Sophomore Kayla Windt added 15 points (her career best) with 100% shooting (3 treys and 3 deuces in 6 attempts).

Katie DeWitt led NWC with 22 points and 5 boards.
