For some reason I was able to recognize the intended humor in Yipsi's post.  Perhaps it's because I'm familiar with Yipsi's reputation on these forums.  He isn't a poster to come in and take shots at other programs.  Admittedly my experience with IWU fans is limited and it's only those who follow the men's program.  But I've found them to be very passionate and quite honestly I wouldn't have to hard of a time to tell you stories about Point's fans or even those of my own WARHAWKS.  People get emotional and committed sometimes that leads them to do things they wouldn't ordinarily do.  That's part of being a human being.  Making a big deal out of it and generalizing it to all of them is silly imo.

Well there is no way we can't say they are not passionate.  Ypsi's comment just seemed rude.  If I was more familiar with his reputation then I could imagine I would be in your boat.  Thanks for your opinion.

I already apologized for the 'joke that died'.  Let me again explain the background.  Last year UWSP knocked but the Titan men and women out of the tournament.  I was eagerly anticipating a chance to turn the tables.  The Titan men couldn't achieve it - the Tommies knocked both our schools out.  I was really expecting a women's IWU/UWSP showdown, and was disappointed it didn't happen.  But I should not have come on here with my post so soon after your loss.  Again, my apologies.

No Problem.  I understand.  Good Luck to your Titans this weekend.

WIAC well represented in the latest D3 Hoops Regional Teams.  Congrats and Britta Petersen for being voted Central POY.  Also, congrats to Hannah Mesick, Andrea Flease, Dana Churchill, and Dana Thompson being third team all region.  Looks as if Frank was left off the teams, but I am not sure who I would take off.  Everyone is just as deserving.

Anyone have any opinions of next year?

Impossible to imagine recruiting classes and transfers right now, but this is how I see it.

1. SP
2. WW
3. RF
4. Superior
5. EC
6. Platteville
7. Stout
8. La Crosse
9. Oshkosh

I think this is Superiors year to make the conference tournament.  Good team coming back and had a couple really close games this year.

Always open for opinion.

Just Bill

I don't see Platteville and Superior climbing quite that high, although both should be better and I don't see La Crosse falling quite that far, although they will be worse.

PLT and SUP still have to learn how to win, even if they have the talent (and I don't think PLT has the talent yet anyway). LC faces the other problem, where the talent drop off is big, but they should be OK based on experience gained this year.

Hey Just Bill,

You forgot to make some picks!  Tell me what you think about order.  I am just seeing what other people think.  At this point of the season, it could be considered foolish to be picking, but it is something to do.

Look forward to seeing what people think.

Just based on players and points lost and returning, here are my projections:

1   UW River Falls
2   UW Stevens Point
3   UW Whitewater
4   UW Eau Claire
5   UW Superior
6   UW Stout
7   UW Platteville
8   UW Oshkosh
9   UW La Crosse

I realize that doesn't take into account, like Kitchen said, recruits and transfers, but with UWSP losing Petersen and Flease, Whitewater losing Thompson, and RF only losing 3 points a game and no starters, seems reasonable to me.  It's going to be tough for EC losing Mesick but that will be nothing compared to LAX losing all five starters.

Bears rule

I have seen this before, poor SP and WW lost good players so they will not be as good. Both those teams 2nd unit could beat most teams.

I say the are 1-2 this next season based on returners.

Now lets see who transfers in/out and recruits.

Congrats to the WARHAWKS women's wheelchair basketball team who in their third year as a program finished the season as national runners-up.

Boy, it's not like I dropped them down very far, I have SP 2 and WW 3.  I just think RF will be pretty good with all their starters returning.  One thing that hurt RF this year was their first team all conference guard Tiffany Gregorich missing 6 games due to injury.  And also, I don't think WW's 2nd unit could beat RF, the last time they played RF won.

Bears rule

Wilsonhoops, maybe I was to strong on that.

Transfer will impact next season.

Look at this past season.

SP Barber
WW?
LX Frank and one other
EC Christenson
RF ?
Oshkosh?
Stout Big player
Plat?
Sup?

I expect WW and LX and EC to have impact transfers next season

WilsonHoops

Bears rule, I agree, transfers will have a big impact.  LAX, from recent history and losing 5 starters I think will be most affected.  Look at the year just ended, transfer Danielle Frank was arguably the most impactful player in the WIAC.  Also, Kassie Robinson, a transfer from St. Thomas was their 6th man and will be their top returning player.  She was the one that went 11 for 11 for 26pts in 18 minutes against Stout.  I know the big player Stout got was Greta Layman from Mankato St., seems like they thought they would get a little more out of her than they did.

PRF2009A

1   UW Stevens Point
2   UW Whitewater
3   UW River Falls
4   UW Stout
5   UW Eau Claire
6   UW La Crosse
7   UW Platteville
8   UW Superior
9   UW Oshkosh

I'm going with this for now.  I don't see Point or WW being moved too far.  Also, I see Stout getting back on track after an off year.

UWL loses 5 starters which is of course a lot to overcome.  They do however have a transfer from UW-Milwaukee who practiced with the team during the 2nd semester, but was ineligible to play until next year for some reason.  Apparently she is a very solid player.  Has a similar game to Churchill.

Combine her with Robinson, Salata, and Radowitz (sp?).  Throw in a recruit or two that can play some quality minutes and this team should be respectible in the WIAC.
