WOW!  Just caught the end of the George Fox/Puget Sound game.  George Fox with a 5 point lead with less than 5 sec left.  Puget Sound hits a 3 with 3 seconds.  PS fouls and George Fox misses both FTs.  Puget Sound gets a half court shot and makes it......But it was a split second after the buzzer.  The refs actually conferred with each other for about a minute and then waved it off.

Glad you were able to catch the end of the game. One correction, it was Lewis and Clark (not Puget Sound). Lewis and Clark finished the year 25-4 with all 4 losses being to George Fox. Links to video of the last 3.5 seconds can be found on the NWC board.

Example #68 of why it really stinks to be on a d3 geographical 'island'.  L & C should not have had to face GF for at least a couple more rounds.  But the NCAA isn't going to pay for any more plane rides than absolutely necessary - it is what it is. :P

QuoteI'm not going to whine about not hosting, but if we want to talk bottom line, dollars for the NCAA, find some schools that have better home attendance for women's teams than UWSP...

I don't think attendance figures is a criteria for hosting at all.  Besides the marginal diference in attendance size  doesn't outweigh all the costs of putting on these events (paying teams travel costs, officials, their own staff costs, etc).  The NCAA Division III tournaments are not money makers for the NCAA.

Attendance does figure into it, as noted by Titan Q yesterday, who posted this information on the men's board (College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin):

Official site selection considerations...

The Championships Committee has prioritized the following site-selection criteria
for all championships:
1. Quality and availability of the facility and other necessary accommodations;
2. Geographical location (which may include such factors as rotation of sites, weather,
accessibility and transportation costs);
3. Seeding; and
4. Attendance history and revenue potential, which shall be considered necessary to
assure fiscal responsibility.

That's in the book, bulk, but it's the last priority and hasn't been an obvious factor in years.

Since I didn't see it on here, the WIAC all-time team.

Well Rick, we know you can sing but can you make it to the dance every year?

have watched several St. Thomas Games on their road to the final four. When I attended the Coe game, I didn't think ST was all that good. Watching them against Calvin last night changed that. ST defense was outstanding and they were very tenacious. Will be interesting to see what happens with ILW. If the ST team that won last night shows up, could mean a trip to final 2 nirvanna.

I attend the occasional garden party to reminisce. Those parties are never held in Elmore City, so there's usually some dancing.

Admittedly an EC fan. Wonderful to see Ellen Plendil getting first team all region. She has had a fabulous year and career. We are all hoping to see her on an all american list. Her NCAA tournament performance was super outstanding.

JMM

Pat Coleman if you are out there. Watched Munger against Amherst. She was pretty phenomenal on offense. Any comments how Plendl stacks up with Munger. I think Munger offense is tops but Plendl really adds a third dimension with her defense. - Any thoughts?

JMM

 Waaaa Waaa sitting in 3rd in the bracket pool with George Fox and Munge rgets hurt Waaaa Waaaa Waaa.

Ellen Plendl, EC all american. Sweet!

JMM

Salute to EC finish the year ranked 18, WIAC CO-Champs. Plendl 3rd team All American. It was a very good year. Thank you Callie, Ellen, Laura and Nicole. Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful.

Additionally Stevens Point finishes #12, WHITEWATER #25 and River Falls just outside at #28.  It was a pretty decent year for the league.

I think Munger's defense is as impressive as Plendl's. You saw how Amherst didn't even try to challenge her. She affected the game just by her presence in the middle.

I agree...

And senior Jess Freagon, too,  ;) as well as all the other seniors involved this season with the Blugold hoops team - statisticians, reporters, trainers, poms/cheerleaders, band, et. al, and anyone I may have unintentionally missed involved behind the scenes at Zorn...

Thanks to all for their contributions over the last four years!
