WOW!!!  Heroics by UWW, especially Merg.  UWW down 12 late in the game.  Merg hits a 25 foot 3 at the buzzer to tie.  She then hits the game winner in OT at the buzzer.  On to the championship game!

Those last 10 mins were some of the most exciting basketball I've ever seen played in Division III.  Congrats to Whitewater; they looked dead in the water with 5 mins to go and made a number of huge plays.

Now the Warhawks get one of the other 2 teams WLC lost to this season. When the Warriors played DePauw in WLC's 2nd game of the season, it was still a 5 point game with 12 min to play in the 2nd half until the Indiana squad pulled away.  Granted that was way earlier than the Warriors played Williams. Williams routed WLC in a game over the holiday break in a game that wasn't that close.

No matter who you get, I'll be pulling for you!

Hail WW great year, exceptional tournament and a wonderful, wonderful run. EC fan

DePauw was really good.  They shot lights out and played tough defense.  Once they got off to such a fast start the hole was too big to climb out of.  Especially against a team playing as well they were.   Congrats to them.  They had a fantastic season.

Kaitlyn Thill was credited with six steals in the two games played.  Those bring her career total to 310 making her the conference's all time career steals leader.

Regardless of the outcome we had a great time in Holland. The facility is really excellent.  I'm sure Stevens Point will be a good host but there is no DIII facility that I am aware of that approaches theirs.  More so the ride this year has been exceptionally fun and the run that capped it was special.  Congrats to the seniors who finish their careers on the team that has advanced the furthest in the history of the program.  Congrats to all involved.  While we've got some big holes to fill we also return a solid group of players.

Badgerhawk, All hats off to the Warhawks. WW has a great team too - beating Amherst, Hope, Simpson and winning the WIAC which is one of the premier conferences going.  Only a great team could do that. I have watched this group of woman for the past few years from the losing end at EC and again at the WW campus. Wonderful. I also have gained he deepest respect for the coach as well. Markmmmm

Sam Barber was named a All American by the National Basketball Coaches Association (NBCA).  Barber is also one of three finalists for the NBCA's National Player of the Year.   Additionally Courtney Kumerow was named an honorable mention All American.  Kumerow's naming to the honorable mention list is the fourth time in the past five years that a WARHAWKS player received honorable mention recognition.  Congrats to both and the others as well.

Good luck to Sam Barber; I've been a distant admirer of hers.  But I don't think anyone but Calvin's Carissa Verkaik is getting any of those awards this year.

I think you've hit the nail on it's proverbial head Yipsi.  I've never seen Verkaik play but from everything I've read she is certainly a deserving receiptant of the award.   I imagine that there is more than one MIAA coach happy to see her graduate.

Brad Fischer wins coach of the year.  How long does he stay at UWO before jumping to a higher profile coaching position?

Don't think he can get much higher in D3. If you mean a move up in divisions, he could certainly do that at some point. He is a very talented coach. It would be great if he would stay at Oshkosh long term but I couldn't begrudge the guy if he took a D2 or D1 job at some point.

badgerwarhawk

He just left a D2 head coaching position at Parkside.  He did a fantastic job, very impressive turnaround, and I agree that he is a very good coach.  But he isn't likely to go from DIII to DI.  So it would seem that if DI is his goal he may have been better off at Parkside.   Obviously it wouldn't be that difficult to get to a better DII program than Parkside's but I've got a feeling that he's going to be around Oshkosh for a while.

But it's been a long time since I've stayed at a Holiday Inn Express so I could be way off base.

No, he was an assistant at Parkside. Oshkosh is his first head coaching job. This is a lot of premature talk for a guy with only one year of head coaching experience, even as talented as I believe him to be.

It's actually somewhat easier for a women's coach to go from D-III directly to D-I, as opposed to a men's coach. Here's a list of recent coaches to make the jump:

Now ... the results have been, let's say mixed. But it's possible.
