Very Happy for WIAC. Especially happy for Superior and S.L. Curious if the process is a ballot and who  decides the ballot or if it is through a conference call. Most curious if the sport directors rely on the coaches and in some manner the process gets back to the coach. No way questioning all those selected or really the process. If it does indirectly get back to the coach, I am curious what criteria they might use. Can anyone shed light. Thanks.

When I review WIAC individual stats, the non chosen EC player has an upper hand in several stat categories. Especially in the assist to turnover ratio and rebounding. Turnovers is what really hurt the blugolds this year. My last comment on the matter.

Only first and second team all-conference players are eligible. SIDs are responsible for submitting the nominations. A select group of SIDs and media from each region vote. The D3hoops.com staff takes the first team all-region selections and then picks their all-american teams.

Point guards tend to do better in A/TO ratio, of course. Lichtfuss only averages .4 more turnovers per game than Lewis.

It's a ballot. We don't have time to arrange and participate in 16 conference calls. :)

Schools have the opportunity to denote for us an order of priority when nominating players (as in, player A should be considered first, etc.). That is definitely useful information when we get it.

Second-teamers are eligible too and are often selected.

Thanks for the clarification on the process Pat and also to Just Bill for the input as well. I have no horse in the race. The process is clarified and appreciated. Again the stats on both players are very close as Pat points out. Thanks to D3Hoops for all they do and do so well.

Congrats to the women selected...

I can't speak for or against the picks on the all region team, and won't quibble about it...
As a Blugold, yes, I'd like to have seen Courtney Lewis mentioned, but will defer to those who picked the team. I do agree with Linzmeier's selection, since I beleive she was conference POY, right? Justifiably so... and, as noted, SL's stats were better than Lewis in just about every case (not that it was a choice between her and Lewis for a spot, though. If that were the case, SL would get it...  ;) ...)

Lewis was 5th in scoring, 12.1, 6th in boards, 6.8, and the one I find most interesting, tied for second in the conference in assists, at 4.35.... As JMM would probably agree, Lewis was the MVP on the Blugolds this year, a big part of their success...

Sally L clearly was to me the best player in the WIAC. Those who know the Blugolds would concur Courtney was MVP this year. Her play in the last few games of the regular season carried a struggling team into second place.

Congrats to UWEC's Lady Blugolds, who were hitting the books during the spring semester, as they recorded an overall team GPA of 3.518.... This ranks 15th out of 440 D3 teams, and makes them the only WIAC team to finish in the top 25...

Alright, we gotta get this board going here. Anyone know when the WIAC preseason poll comes out? Should be an interesting season.

Here is the poll:

2. UW-Whitewater
3. UW-Eau Claire
4. UW-Stevens Point
5. UW-River Falls
6. UW-La Crosse

In the UMAC, UW-Superior is picked to finish 3rd behind Northwestern (MN), and Minnesota-Morris but has a pair of first place votes.
