Whitewater is in!!!!

I didn't expect that but I'll take it.  Interestingly we are on the opposite side of the bracket from the other 3 WIAC schools in the tournament.

Wow... interesting news...
Never met Coach Heeren, but I always thought she was a classy coach...

JMM

Very classy and always willing to spend a few minutes with you.

I, admittedly, do not follow our women's team that closely - but
209 wins in over 17 years as coach, including 1-13 in conference this year, wasn't going to get it done.  Good luck to Coach Heeren in the future and thank you for your service to UWL.

She was very friendly with the table and seemed like a nice person.  I'll give her credit because she once recognized and said hello to me at a La Crosse/WARHAWKS football game I was attending in La Crosse.  I wish her well.

Perhaps the unfortunate thing is that this didn't happen a few years ago when Brad Fischer was her assistant and would have been a logical candidate to replace her.   He's completely turned around a Titan program that was similarly struggling.

Thanks for info on the Woman's WiAC. Congrats to all. Erin O'toole had a fantastic year as a transfer. We will see what the future holds for EC. As a team they must end a 3-4 year streak of to many turnovers. Hoping the best for the WIAC NCAA tournament teams. Hope to get to RF to watch games an Friday night.

RogK

Congrats to UW-RF : you beat a very good Wheaton team. Also, a "well done" to your p.a. announcer for saying something nice about both teams at the ends of today's games. Good sportsmanship.

JMM

Good games at RF. Loras let St Thomas off the hook. RF exploded for basket after basket after basket and running like lightning. Sounds like 4 WIACs and wins.

The Four WIACs will be tested for sure tonight playing D3Hoops numbers 2, 8 and 10 teams. Most worried about OSH who is playing a revived Wartburg Team. Seems to me , OSH needs to control the tempo. Slow it down a little and limit turnovers. I was not that impressed by St. Thomas last night. With RF experience against EC's O'Toole, RF should have no problems with St Thomas's Langer at Center. O'Toole is a much stronger presence. If RF holds St. Thomas's Stone in check, there is a little bit of gap in remaining St Thomas players. RF was dynamite last night. If that frame of mind continues, RF should advance to the Sweet 16. SP has a shot at George Fox thanks to SP tough schedule, and home court. One might wonder how tested George Fox really has been. "On the Road Fatigue may also hit the Bruins tonight. IF SP can play super tough, they  got a fair shot. WW will have their hands full w Washington U. Two really good coaches. Most worried about OSH who needs to play 100%. I think they will. I see 2 WIAC teams advancing. Maybe 3 if SP pulls the upset - it may be there to take.

WARHAWKS advance to round 2 with a 66-54 win over #21 Bluffton.  Leading by a single point late in the third period the WARHAWKS finished with a 7-2 run to go up six 49-43 when the quarter ended.  Bluffton never got closer the WARHAWKS lead was in double digits for the final three and half minutes.  The WARHAWKS went 7-15 from beyond the arc and out rebounded Bluffton 46-36.  Defensively the WARHAWKS recorded 10 steals.  Brooke Trewyn finished with game highs of 23 points, 9 rebounds.  Lisa Palmer also had 9 rebounds and added game highs of 4 assists and 3 steals.   Wash U will be the opponent tonight.
