Looks like a tough night for the WIACs. Tough, tough, tough, that said, it was a great regular season for us WIAC fans. Thanks to all the players and coaches for a grand year.

The WARHAWKS season ended Saturday with a 62-45 loss to Wash U and a season record of 20-8.  It was the 8th time in the past 9 years the team has won at least 20 games.  We hung within five points after three quarters but Wash U opened the the final quarter with a 13-1 run that turned into a 20-5 run at the two minute mark.  We went 0-7 from the floor and committed 5 turnovers during that stretch.  Abbie Reeves hit four three pointers to surpass the 1000 career points mark (1003) and with 204 three pointers became the program's all time leader.  Reeves finished with 12 points.  Lisa Palmer added 10 points and pulled down 7 rebounds.  Andrea Meinert added 10 rebounds and Brooke Trewyn 4 steals.

Warhawks have been outstanding for many a year. I don't think many thought they would get to the NCAA. Willing to bet they are there next year.

Congrats to EC Erin Otoole. First Team Central Region and All American Honorable Mention from D3Hoops.

From the UWL website - search narrowed to five finalists for head coach position, with on-campus interviews and open forums taking place through next week...

The five are: Karen Middleton, former associate head women's basketball coach at Cal State Fullerton University; Donald Mulhern, head women's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Superior; Abby Oakland, assistant women's basketball coach at Southwest Minnesota State University; Doug Porter, assistant women's basketball coach at North Central College (Ill.) and Riley Woldt, assistant women's basketball coach at St. Norbert College (Wis.).

As a bit of an addendum on Porter, he's the mastermind behind North Central's use of The System since they went to it in '12-'13. He's a brilliant basketball mind, but also a great guy. It'd be a bummer to see him leave NCC, but La-Crosse would be getting a great coach.

Interesting hire -- a lot of D1 experience, and nothing at any level inside Wisconsin.

We have all the WIAC women's schedules posted on our site. If you click on a team's page, it'll still default to 2015-16 for a little while. We want to get more teams' schedules in the system before we set the default to 2016-17. But you can look at all the schedules by following this format:

I think Brad Fischer and the Titans are a threat to win it all.

Maybe OSH will win all. They did get their act back together at the end of the season. EC's all-american should be more seasoned this year in her second year.. There is also a pretty good supporting cast. I think RF is still the team to beat. Another grand year of WHY-ACK woman's basketball coming up shortly.
