Note on Stout. Stout is a very good team with lots of stamina and energy. Hirssig is fantastic. I think it would serve Stout not to pull her out so frequently and to keep her underneath. For some reason she seems to be more at the high post or up front not down below for rebounds and those quick put backs for points. Seems she gets pulled so much she can't get her full game going.

Pointers knock off #1 Whitewater 84-76.  Janelle Van Gomple scores 18, Britta Peterson scores 17 (15 in second half) and Jessi Sporle scores 16.

UWEC survives a 3-point barrage called Stout.  Stout came out firing and hitting (esp. Edwards).  UWEC was playing a zone to contain Hirssig, which gave Stout some opportunities from the outside and they converted.  Even when UWEC switched to person to person defense in the 2nd half, Stout was still hot from the outside.  For the game they went 11-18 from 3. 

The game was close all the way, usually within 5 points.  EC did get a 10-point lead with 4min left.  Stout got back within 1 with 35sec left.  EC hit 1 of 2 FTs to take a 2-point lead.  With just a few seconds left, EC knocked the ball away from a Stout player going up for a shot and EC grabbed the ball and got fouled.  Coach T thought his player got hacked and he ended up getting a T.  End of game!

EC countered Stout's 3s mainly with the play of Heidi A along with contributions from others.  Heidi finished with 31pts and 7rebs, going 16-16 from the foul line.  She was definitely the go-to player down the stretch for the Golds. Witt chipped in with 12pts and 6 steals (about 4 in the first 8min of the game).  Fremstad played a good floor game and hit some key shots.  Mesick got EC off to a good start.

Stout shot 51% for the game compared to EC's 40% and outrebounded them by 8.  However, EC turned the ball over 10 times less and out shot Stout from the FT line 80% to 50%.

Is Stout's Tanya Dickey the sister of former UWEC player Jessica Dickey?  They look and play very alike.

UWEC's Heidi A is 40-41 (98%) on FTs so far this season.  That percentage (while also considering the number of attempts) could be #1 regardless of division.

I believe to qualify for the NCAA statistical leaders you have to average 4 made free throws per game, so right now she qualifies.  I think the first statistical report of the season comes out this Tuesday.
