The Falcons were able to knock off Oshkosh in a battle of young teams.  Neither team played very well.

If the Falcons can stop turning the ball over, I think they have a chance to make the WIAC Tournament.  We also need to see more of Tiffany Gregorich, she should be playing about 35 mins a game, but she also has to stay out of foul trouble.

The 3 times I've seen UWRF play I was extremely impressed with Tess Lardie; especially her defense and ability to make steals.  Also, I thought Jenna Hanson was very solid at the point.  If they can get Taylor House and the other freshman, Maranda Dohrn to step up right away they could be in the mix.  I should be able to watch them again when they come into MIAC territory to take on Hamline.

Its not that I was saying those two shouldn't play.  They would all be in my starting line-up. (Yes I realize they are all 3 G's)

I just think that with her in the game the Falcons have the best chance to win.  She never quits on a play, she is always hustling, and she can create her own shot.

Lardie needs to get more looks from outside and Hanson needs to be the leader.

I like the debate though... finally some RF stuff. Keep it up!

Sigh :'(  Superior continues to snap defeat out of the jaws of victory.

At least the team has some nice talent, so there are flashes of decent play. Last year, I thought the team might have been kind of dangerous to be around; better this year.

The WARHAWK women blew Wheaton College (Il.) out of the gym last night.  Leading 49-25 at half the WARHAWKS never trailed in the game and expanded the lead to 32 points, 88-56, by the time it ended.  Tiffany Morton led the way with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in 23 minutes.  Kelsey Hendrickson and Heidi Sontage scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.  Dana Thompson also pulled down 9 rebounds as the WARHAWKS outrebounded the Thunder 42-30 and won the turnover battle 22-17 which included 12 steals by the home team.

UWEC wins 59-47 over UWP.  Golds jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, but UWP then went on an 8-0 run.  Pretty close throughout the 1st half, with EC usually leading by about 5 or so.  Witt, who was on a tear in the first two minutes (7pts, 2 steals) picked up her 2nd foul about 5min into the game and sat the rest of the half.  Heidi A continues her hot FT shooting, going 12-12 tonight.

In other action tonight:

Point over UWL, 58-56.  Bandow hits a shot with a few seconds left.

Stout whips UWRF, 80-57.  Hirssig with 25pts, 11rebs.  RF goes 8-26 from the FT line. Are you serious?

Superior wins over Northwestern, 62-50.  I believe Northwestern played Stout evenly last week at the Johnson.

Congrats to Heidi A on being the WIAC player of the week and on being named to the d3hoops team of the week.

I Would add my congrats to Heidi A.  After watching what she did against Stout on Sat., hard to imagine anyone else getting the honor.  Regarding the Stout win, I didn't get to see it, but did talk to "T" after the game and the warning that I would put out to the rest of the conference is that he really likes this team.  The near miss at EC and taking care of business at home makes me believe that Stout will be in the mix this year.  A couple of d2 opponents next week will help get them ready for the conference battles to come.

Looks like a lot of the high school free-throw lines in the box scores down here.  Even the good teams are shooting horribly from the line.

I understand that she had a huge game on Saturday, but shouldn't we just re-name the award the WIAC offensive player of the week?  I feel like the team that had the best week should have their best player get the award.  I thought knocking off the #1 ranked team in the nation and winning there other game by 30+, Point should have had the player of the week.

Heidi A's stats were amazing, but I think we should just name it the offensive player of the week.  I am not sure if they take into mind a person's defense and level of competition.

Usuallywrong.  I think you are wrong again :D  Using your logic, we would have to rename the player of the week award to team of the week, don't you think?

I don't think we have to go that far.  I was just looking at stats and think the Point's player that was nominated had a very good week also and had a bigger win than EC.

I just think that the level of competition should be taken into consideration.  Even though EC beat a very good Stout team at home, I would think that most people would agree that WW was better going into Saturday that Stout was.  Just trying to get a discussion going I guess.   ;)

No problem with the discussion.  But I would suggest that  how much better WW is than Stout, (and that is yet to be determined), is a nonfactor in Heidi getting that award.

I agree that it was a non factor in Heidi getting the award.  I just thought it should be.  I just thought that WW was a better team going into the weekend than Stout based on record and ranking.
