3 WIAC teams in the Top 10:

UWEC is #3
UWW is #4
UWSP is #10

UWEC jumped UWW.

I think the pollsters got it right this week having EC higher than WW.  We'll find out for sure on Saturday though :)

Does anyone know the situation with Wahl from UW-L.  I see she didn't play Saturday.  Just wondering if it is an injury or something else.  They are going to need her tomorrow night.

EC avoids a huge upset with a close win at Superior, 48-43.  The defense pulls it out for the Golds.  Allowing a team to only score 43 on their home court is fantastic.  Superior even got some prayers answered on some shots.  The offense did not look good at all.  EC shot 31% from the floor and from watching it, it looked worse.  I will give credit to Superior, they did play tough defense.  EC needs to rev up the offense if they want to compete at UWW this Saturday.  It would be nice if another player besides Witt, Heidi A, or Mesick would step up offensively.  Witt once again leads EC with 16pts & 4 steals.  Hopefully this was just a bad game.

I would be willing to bet just a little bump in the road rather than a show of their true grit.  Least they got the win and set up a showdown on Saturday.

WHITEWATER 70  LaCrosse 61

Tiffany Morton led the WARHAWKS with 18 points and 14 rebounds in 26 minutes of playing time.  The points pushed Morton's three year career total to over 1000 points (1006) as she became the eighth player in school history to reach that mark.  The double-double was Morton's eighth of the season.   WHITEWATER scored first on a Morton layup and never trailed in the game building the lead to as many as 17 points on three occassions in the first half before settling into an 11 point lead, 36-25, when it ended.  The WARHAWKS started the second half with an 11-2 run to go up by 20 points before LaCrosse rallied cutting the lead to 7 points on three occassions before the final horn sounded.

In addition to Morton the WARHAWKS got double figure points from Heidi Sontag (14), Rachel Woolever (12, 4-7 three-pointers) and Megan Schmidt (12).  The WARHAWKS out rebounded LaCrosse 40-32 including 16 offensive rebounds.  WHITEWATER went 20-23 from the free throw line.

McKenzie Hunter had a great night for LaCrosse scoring 30 points and pulling down 8 rebounds.  She played 38 minutes of the game.  Lyndsay Wahl also scored in double figures with 15 points.

Always good to see 3 WIAC teams in the top 25, but in the top 10 is just awesome.
We started that WRST Sports sh**.

I expect EC, ranked in the top 25 in the nation, figured Superior, with no conference wins in how long?, would be a pushover team. The fact is, Superior has some decent players. One of the better players hasn't been very effective the past couple of games, but another player--who I personally thought sucked (can I say that?) at the beginning of the year--is starting to turn in some decent halves. I think Superior women will take their lumps, but I also think they're going to play some good games. It sure would be nice to win a game here and there.

How quickly you forget...

1/16/2008 against UWRF - The Yellowjackets won 80 - 72... ;)

And the year before, they had 2 wins - 1/13/2007 against UWL and then again on 2/10/2007 against Platteville!

Boy, they sure missed an opportunity for a near historic win the other night!
