Congrats to UWW and UWRF yesterday. Glad to see they still play the games even though some determined them earlier. :D

Better hold off on the WIAC Championship Tournament party for Stout. I just caught up with Wednesday night's christening this morning (to be fair only mentioned by one person as their ardent supporters were still cautious). I understand Hirrsig is good, and so is their coach, but this is also a team that beat Oshkosh and Superior by three and had a 20 point loss hung on them by La Crosse in the last month. Don't get me wrong, I'm not burying them, but now they're likely going to have to win out to avoid three tournament road games  ... definitely not the path you want.

Apparently no "Witt Zone" in River Falls either?

JMM I kid ... I appreciate your enthusiasm and love for a good player ... regardless of your affiliation. Your posts are the most "entertaining" on here.

Finally, is it just me or is La Crosse sliding under the radar here? I know there are no regulars from there here to talk about them, but they've won 8 of 10, won at UWW, beat Stout by 20, haven't lost to a team they shouldn't, and lost at the horn to UWSP the first meeting. They don't match-up well with UWEC, so they'd be best to avoid them in the tournament; but I wouldn't sleep on them. Ranked 7th in the Massey's as well (UWSP 1, UWEC 2, UWW 5).

I also know Hirssig is everyone's favorite for POTY, I guess I don't understand why Mackenzie Hunter is not in the same conversation, if not leading the conversation.

Hirssig- 20.3 ppg, 57% FG, 0-2 3's, 68% FT, 10.7 rpg, 15 ast, 58 TO's, 8 Blk, 26 steals
Hunter- 20.3 ppg, 47% FG, 24-54 3's (44%). 86% FT, 5.1 rpg, 43 ast, 71 TO's, 7 Blk, 64 steals

Looking at the stat line I just don't see this as an open and shut case; not to mention La Crosse is two games ahead of Stout.

Just for discussion.

Looks like WW got healthy in a hurry yesterday.  I am wondering if they zoned Hirrsig or how she went from fantastic to average

WHITEWATER women don't play zone defense.   It was man-to-man, or rather woman to woman, with Morton, Thompson, Schmidt and occassionally Burg.   The help defense was effective so when she got the ball which was usually in the low block area they would swarm her and she'd end up a little too far underneath the basket with a bad angle to shoot.

The real story of the game was the other four Stout starters who didn't score.

BTW- Read in the SP Journal that Point assistant Megan Wilson completed her fund raising goal and shaved her head.

Great work Megan.

I was just thinking about all conference team.  My list of ten is:

Hunter
Wahl
Hirrsig
Morton
Witt
Heidi A
Mesik
Van Gomple
Petersen
Gregorich

Might be a coincidence that these are the top 10 scorers during the conference season.  I don't know.  :)

Maybe the good mayor of River Falls passed a new Zoning ordinance prohibiting Witt-like play within 500 feet of Karges.

There usually isn't.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

UWEC leading D1 South Dakota at the half, 24-21.

buf

EC up 32-26 with 15min left

buf

EC up 42-34 with 8min left

Wow ... just realized looking at their schedule how bad South Dakota is ... they've played a predominantly NAIA schedule this year; looks like Viterbo's schedule.

No wonder the NCAA put a moratorium on teams trying to join Division I.
Take 'em out Eau Claire

Wonder what happened to that program in one year?

EC up 49-38 with 4:30 left

buf

EC up 55-47, 1:52 left

EC wins 62-50 at South Dakota

While this win was nice, I would rather of had EC win against RF yesterday and lose today
