I would imagine that had everything to do with it.  I don't really understand it because then that only tied the season series at 1-1.  I didn't think this was like college football where it is better to lose early than lose late; it shouldn't really matter.

I think if two teams split a season series you have to give a slight edge to the team that won the later game. I am not saying that that should effect the rankings much, but with two teams that have been closely ranked all year some may see that as a deciding factor at the time.
However, if I am a Pointer I don't worry about that much. Right now, they have home court advantage throughout their conf. Tourney and should they run into WW again (very likely in my opinion) Point should have a strong advantage if you look back at the two schools recent history. If I am not mistaken, and correct me if i am, at least the last 5 games have been won by the home team. I know i am not mistaken here, but it doesn't matter what your regional ranking is if you take care of business in the Conf. Tourney.
Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be.

SP was able to go to WW last year in the conference tournament and get a win, so home teams are 4-1 in the last 5.

I understand your point.  I wish they would post the last regional rankings on Sunday, just to see where the teams stand.  I think if these two teams meet  Saturday, the winner will be 2 while the loser will most likely be 4 after the way Wash U is playing in the UAA.

Any word on what happened to Holst from River Falls?  Saw she only played one minute on Saturday and has not played yet tonight.  Hope it isn't anything serious.  She plays pretty hard.

Stout 36-33 at half
EC 25-19 at half

Well, EC vs WW, part 3.  Going to be a battle.  Mesick and Morton in the post.  Witt and Hendrickson at the point.  These two teams are very even.  Should be a good one.

EC wins over RF, 62-47, in what was a fairly close game for 35 minutes.  Ugly first half by both teams.  The shooting was really poor.  Both teams picked it up in the 2nd half.  Weinberg hit some big 3s in the 2nd half.  She had an answer every time RF got close.

With the win, I would think EC would be a near lock for a pool C, if they aren't already.

I think near lock is a good term.  There are going to be a lock if they can beat WW.

QuoteJulia Hirssig first team Academic All-American

MENOMONIE  (February 24, 2009) - UW-Stout forward Julia Hirssig (Jr, Rochester, Minn) was named to the first team of ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America women's basketball team in the college division.

Hirssig is having an outstanding year on the basketball court for the Blue Devils, but the Hotel, Retaurant and Tourism Management major is outstanding in the classroom. With a grade point average of 3.95, Hirssig has earned her way to the Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence all five semesters at Stout.

Hirssig is also a resident adviser for Student Housing, a Salvation Army volunteer and a Quantity Foods Production lab assistant.

On the court, Hirssig is averaging 19.3 points per game. Last season, Hirssig led all of the NCAA Division III women's basketball in field goal percentage and this year is second in the WIAC with a percentage of .549. Hirssig is second in the WIAC in rebounds with 10.8 rebounds per game.

Twice this season, Hirssig has been named the WIAC player of the week and twice has been placed on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. A preseason All-American, Hirssig has scored 12double-doubles, has scored in double digits in 22 of 24 games, has scored 20 or more points in 12 games and 14 times has exceeded 10 rebounds in a single game.

Hirssig went over 1000 career points on Jan. 24 in a 37 point effort over UW-Platteville. In a four game stretch, Hirssig scored 126 total points, averaging 31.5 points over those four games. She currently has 482 points on the season and has 1130 career points.

The college division is made up of NCAA Division II and III institutions, as well as NAIA schools.

I first met Julia when she was a Senior at Rochester Mayo - attended 3 or 4 games with Coach T.  I could tell she was going to be something special!

I've gotten to know her and her family over the last 4 years, and they are all just really nice people.  This is a great award for her, and I know her parents are real proud of her.

She's got a younger sister who is playing for Rochester Mayo right now as a Sophomore.  I suppose I'll be watching her play some HS ball in the next couple of years...

Stout wins 82 - 70 over LaCrosse.

It was a balanced Stout offense that took down the Warhawks tonight.  The 5 starters for Stout - Charlee Edwards, Lindsey Gerber, Julia Hirssig, Kim Stokke and Megan Maslowski contributed 18, 16, 16, 14 and 9 respectively.

Player of the game absolutely was Edwards!  Her hustle on both offense and defense was amazing.  I've watched her play this game for 4 years, and tonight was a career game for her.  I'm sure she's had games where she scored more points, but there hasn't been a game that she dominated like this one.

Kim Stokke was assigned the task to guard LaCrosse's Mackenzie Hunter in the second half, and she shut Hunter down.  Hunter was 5 of 10 from the floor in the first half, but only hit 1 of 9 in the second half.

Melissa Lang led the scoring for the Eagles with 21 points - 17 in the second half (5 of 8 three pointers).  Quite simply, without Lang, the game would not have been close.

Congratulations to LaCrosse's Seniors.  The last game is always hard after 4 years of playing together.

How hard could it be when our women are at the men's game?    Actually scoring 70 under those circumstances is nothing short of a miracle.   :D

Central Rankings:

1. IWU
2. Wash U.
3. Stevens Point
4. Whitewater
5. Eau Claire
6. St. Norbert

Little shake up from 2-4 last week.  Wash U. has the advantage/disadvantage of playing ranked teams almost every week.  Their win over Rochester must have pushed them over the edge.

Just Bill

Wash U. moving up doesn't really matter though, since they've already clinched an automatic spot.
