It was brutal.  I hope you're correct.

Tomorrow's a rematch of last year's championship game, except it's at SP .  Last year SP upset EC at home.  Can the Bluegolds get revenge at SP tomorrow?

I believe last year SP was the #3 seed also and ended up winning at UWW in the semis, just like EC did.  However, I think that this is a tough matchup for EC.  Point's posts are too mobile when going against EC's posts in their zone defense.  EC may need to sag in more and hope Point doesn't knock down their perimeter shots like they did a couple of weeks ago.

As for the WW loss...wow. It's tourney time and you put up 34 - AND you're ranked #4. Give me a break. ZERO excuses, they do NOT deserve to be in the tourny. Best of luck to all the teams. I hope Point doesn't one and out again.

UWW DOES deserve to be in the tourney.  They are a very good team.  It was a case where EC played perhaps their best game of the year and I suspect UWW played one of their worst.  It happens, it was ONE game.  Remember, UWW did beat Point a couple of weeks ago.  If EC loses against Point, it will be interesting to see where EC and UWW stack up for a pool C bid (as to which one will be ranked higher in the invisible regional rankings).  I believe their resumes would be pretty close.  Both should get in though.

I agree that WW does deserve to get in, but teams that deserve it don't always get a bid.  I think that EC has to be ranked above WW in the invisble regional rankings after winning at WW no matter what happens in SP tomorrow.

Ok - I was harsh, I admit that...first case, Stout. I won't take anything away from Point. I was pleasantly suprised to see them come out on the attack. Solid defense, great execution, they just were unbeatable. Outside of some poor shooting during a stretch this could have been an ugly loss for Stout.  And if I recall the last time they played before this one of Stout's top guns put up 37. I don't think this team fares to old Stout teams over the last 5-7 seasons and that's one reason I noted my opinion of their talent level. Of course Mark's a great coach, but to have to sit through that fouling bs for over 7 minutes to try to stay in it...that was lame. He called timeout with 48 seconds left to strategize the next move because they finally hit a three and were only down 14 or 15 at that point. Regardless, I just don't think this team was as tough as old Stout teams overall.

Normally I'd be cheering for a 3 WIAC team representation in the tourny...and I'm sure EC played great, but a loss like that on your own floor? What is that? Teams are supposed to be at the top of their game, win or go home attitude this time of year and that's what you came out with? I just don't think the #4 ranking and the hype is valid for a team that embarrasses themselves like that this time of year. It is harsh, but if they don't get a nod now from the committee, then won't that make some sort of sense. Be ready to compete or go home...accountability. SP goes 20-5 the year after they win the title - they received no bid. They were ranked, got no love. Nuff said, I would be defending my team as well if I was a WW fan, but this is not the time of year for a loss like that or excuses.

Good luck to SP - they appear to be a force to be reckoned with. Looking forward to a war this Saturday!

Back then I believe that there were only 8 Pool C bids.  Now there are something like 20 bids.  That is why they didn't get in.

The entire season means nothing and the NCAA should base their decision on the last game played.  Just forget the rest of it, it was meaningless.   The worst game we've played in 11 years should decide our fate.   No offense intended but that doesn't make much sense.

That being said we certainly didn't do anything to help our chances last night.  EC sat in a 2-3 zone and our shooters couldn't toss the ball in the Atlantic Ocean.  It was embarrassing.
Agree with most everyone else, Whitewater should be in the tournament. The score is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.

BW- I think you wrote something similar after the La Crosse and maybe one other game. WW's top three 3-pt attempt kids are shooting 33%, 27%, and 26%. The term "shooters" may not be accurate for Whitewater. There's not a kid that other terms are truly worried about leaving open which is why they'll keep seeing zones.

I don't care what defense the other team is playing; 29 3-point attempts!?!?!? I understand they were playing from way down but you can attack a 2-3 many other ways than launching 3's. They took 28 against La Crosse, 22 against EC last time they lost.

They've got to figure out another way to play against a zone.

They should have turned around and faced the other way.  The Pacific Ocean is much bigger.

Coach Thomas was trying to extend the game.  He started fouling with 3:37 left in the game.  This team isn't as tough as the old Stout teams, but they play hard.  All you can really ask from a D3 college athlete.  Its good people are getting punches in this year because if they find a reliable PG like Churchill, Hendricks, or the Geisslers watch out.

I think that every team should play WW in a zone.  You are going to take your lumps on the defensive glass because its tough to block out in a zone, but their best player owns the lane and their shooters aren't as good as last year.  Its ironic because those are the same shooters as last year.  They need to figure it out soon or their season may have a max of one game left.  Maybe Morton needs more touches.  I saw she had two fouls in the first half last night, but they didn't come until about 7 minutes left in the first half and the were already down 14-5.

The Champ

I've read some interesting stuff here over the last day...

Some of it was really pretty good!

The rest of it..... ::)

Congratulations to EC and SP on their victories.

And good luck to WW on getting a pool C bid.

What's up with Heidi ???  No way we can win with one of our top scorers not scoring.
