Bears rule

I say bring both to WW.
It sure will make it easier for the other teams thou. Stout and EC will be a lot less competitive.

OK lets ship Messick and Hirsig to WW and go for the national championship! Also need to have all WW games played at Stout or EC so I can take them all in. Maybe change the name to the Bluehawks for stout and EC.

I'd say let Stout draft a couple of players from around the WIAC to add to the team and see what happens.... ;D

I'm sure the rest of D-III will love us even more than they already do if we start consolidating into all-star teams.  ;)

That said, I always thought it would be great to take a WIAC all-star team on a summer trip to Europe or something like that.  Even if it was just seniors or something, it would be cool to see.  Who's got the pull to get that done?  Stoutguy?  BW?  Make it happen!

A lot of upsets tonight:

UWO over EC 67-58.  Wenig with 20pts.  EC went cold in the 2nd half.

Superior wins at RF, 55-54.  Superior had a 3pt lead and the ball with a minute left, ended up falling behind a couple of times, but got a layin with 3sec left to pull off the upset.  Congrats to Sup!  Whats happening to RF?

UWL wins at Stout in 2OT, 88-80.  I thought Stout was for sure going to win.  This season Stout just seems to win all the nailbiters that they are in.  Well, they could have very well won this game in the 1st OT.  UWL was holding for the last shot, shot it and missed, and someone came over the back on Hirssig with .7sec to go.  Hirrsig missed the front end, thus the game went to 2OT.  Lang led UWL with 27pts.  Hirssig had 25pts, 18rebs.

Point wins at UWW, 64-51.  Point takes the drivers seat in the conference.

Dick Bennett used to take pride in never allowing a great inside player to beat his teams.

Ask him about Kurt Nimphius sometime.

Wow. UWSP couldn't have gotten a better night of results if they playing the games on Playstation.

What an emotionally draining game last night for Blue Devil fans.  I have to believe that the UWL bus was rockin' on the way home after there double overtime win...

Melissa Lang won that game last night.  Not single handedly, but without her, the Blue Devils win that game.  I'm convinced of that.

Lang personally scored the first 15 points for La Crosse.  She scored the first 20 of 25 points.

From my perspective it seemed like she couldn't miss in the first half.  Perception is not always reality as the stat book shows that she did miss 2 of 6 shots from behind the arc and a total of 3 out of 11 shots in the half.

It was an amazing performance that put her team in control of the game.

Coach Lois must feel like she exorcised a demon last night - this was UWL's first victory at Johnson Fieldhouse since 1992...

Make it happen.  Are you kidding?  BW and I are so old, we have trouble getting our shoes tied in the morning.

And without Hirsig UWL wins by 20... I'm convinced of that.

Sloppy game by both teams last night (outside of Lang and Hirsig)  I have never seen so many traveling calls in a single game.  I lost count, but the stout announcer was guessing around 12 at about half time.  Must have been over 20 for the game.  Outside of that, Stout struggled to make any jump shots and UWL struggled underneath on defense big time.

Frank fouled out half way through the first overtime which hurt as she had started out the OT great with a nice basket, block on Hirsig, and a few boards.

Stout will win some big games going down the stretch especially if someone can make a few 3s to accompany Hirsig's dominant performances.

Bears rule

Stevens Point now looks to win the WIAC, at least for this week. They were really good last night.

LX over Stout. LX has been playing very well. They might get into the top 4

Superior over RF. Did I just type that. What?

Oshkosh over EC. Oshkosh the most improved team sense Dec 15.

I predict by next week things look different again.

I was able to take in the SP/WW game last night - and what a great game it was.  Regardless of the statistics it was a dawg fight - always is down in WW, but once Hendrickson and Bundy fouled out, the game was over.  Give them credit, they both played a hard fought game.

Also reported in WW yesterday, Thompson will redshirt and be back next year - if she comes back strong, look for her and Berg to be a tough inside duo.

Just can't say enough good things about the passion and drive the pointer women showed down the stretch - and it's exciting to think they will only loose 1 senior (Windt) and bring back Flease, Peterson, Bandow and Averkamp.  Gonna be a fun group to watch again next year :)

Free throws killed the WARHAWKS again last night.  Point shoots 30 free throws making 22 and the WARHAWKS shoot 11 making 9.   I don't know what it is but for whatever reason since the Eau Claire game opponents have had the advantage from the free throw line 90-43.  The WARHAWKS trailed big early in the first half but managed to cut the lead down to five by the break and take their first lead at the sixteen minute mark 39-37.  Point was struggling at that point it we had a chance to put some distance between us however over the next 8 minutes we also couldn't score and then Point got back on track retaking the lead 44-43 and from that time on scores 17 of their next 24 points from the free throw line.

Coach T fans should not read this. Saw the Stout/LAX game last night. Coach L was superb in winning a game one would have thought Stout would win with 8 minutes left. Sat close to the LAX bench and watched her communicate in positive, supporting friendly way to her team. They were having fun - wanted to win but having fun. I have watched Stout 6 times this year and 2 dozen over the past 8 years. My 2 cents is that coach T is sometimes too intense. This post has been changed to reflect inaccuracy on my part. JMM

OK, Coach T fans can tune back in. I'm sure ';ll get an ear full - but watch the Stout bench during the first half of their next game maybe you'll agree.

Been there; done that ;D
