Hello again everybody - Voice Pattison here  - announcing that I have debuted a new blog that ncludes stories, photos, personal thoughts on the Warhawk men's and women's basketball teams as they begin their 2010 NCAA Division III tournament runs on Friday.  It also allows Blog readers to comment on each story.

The Hawk men will be in Wooster Ohio for opening weekend action.  Whitewater's women will be hosting first and second round action at Kachel Gymnasium.  I'll be on the road with Shane Sparks broadcasting from Wooster.  Gary Douglas will be staying in Whitewater to broadcast Warhawk women's tournament action.  Radio Ron will produce the broadcasts from deep inside the KOOL 106.5/WFAW/WSJY studio complex.

I've been broadcasting Warhawk men's and women's basketball for the past 24 years and there is nothing better than the adrenine rush of "tournament time."

??

UWL's Mackenzie Hunter was the WIAC POY in 2008-09...

Brain fart on my part, I must've been thinking about Kelsey Duoss... :-[

Well, it could be a Stout player for the 3rd time in 4 years... ;)

You're slipping, Champ.  ;)

Second time in four years - a Blugold, Michelle Burns, was the WIAC POY in 2007-08... But I'll forgive that oversight...  ;)

Nevertheless, it will be three of the last five for Stout; Duoss, was, indeed POY in 2005-06, and 2006-07...

BW-

Do you know if the UWW women's games are being video streamed this weekend via Penn Atlantic?  I don't see the games listed on their schedule.  However, I know they did the UWW football games, including the playoffs, the last few years.

Just trying to plan for this weekend!

Yes the women are going to be streamed and the men will be streamed on the Defiance website.

For the third year in a row I'll make my pitch for Keri Carollo as the WIAC Coach of the Year.  She won the sixteen game war outright despite having to make significant adjustments when Thompson was lost for the season.   I've been disappointed these past couple of years when she didn't get it and if she doesn't this year I honestly don't know what she'd have to do to get the honor.

Finally! I guess the third time is a charm.

Hirssig does get WIAC POY!

Also:

QuoteNamed to the All-Defensive Team were:

UW-La Crosse's Danielle Frank, UW-River Falls' Tiffany Gregorich, UW-Stevens Point's Andrea Flease, UW-Stout's Julia Hirssig and UW-Whitewater's Kelsey Hendrickson.  Hirssig received the honor for the third straight year.

A while back, when PRF2009A was in a rant about a certain "great player" and  how "she played defense too", I made a post that I didn't see his pet player making the All-Defensive Team.

In my post I projected Hirssig and Frank as locks for All-Defense.

I stated Stokke from Stout might make it - and I was wrong.

I stated that WW's Hendrickson should make it and she did.

I said at the time that Messick might have a chance, but I didn't think she would - and I was right.

Congratulations to Flease and Gregorich for making the All-D Team!

Hendrickson has 102 steals this season.  Flease is next with 69.  Hendrickson's total gives her 239 during her three year WARHAWK career.   Thrisa Thill owns the WARHAWK program record and is second all-time in the WIAC with 269.  I have little doubt Hendrickson would have surpassed that had she played four years in the program.

The WIAC steal record is held by Steven Points' Amanda Nechuta with an even 300.

Thill is actually 6th all-time in WIAC steals and Nechuta is 2nd.  Sue Christiansen of Eau Claire (1986-90) is first with 307.

Oops. I missed that.  Thanks for the correction.  It's too bad Hendrickson didn't have four years.  She possibly could have held the record.

Point got off to a 15-6 lead, but Morris has stormed back to take a 27-23 lead half way through the 1st half
