UWSP Recruiting Class
Myranda Tyler 6'1 Grafton
Jenna Pitt 5'8 Amherst
Christie Struck 5'6 Weyauwega-Fremont
Alyssa Olp 5'9 Brillion

Struck is out w/severe concussions and will most likely miss her entire freshman season, but they're hoping she will be back to play in the 2011-12 season and Pitt will be coming back off of an ACL injury.

UWSP Recruiting Class
Myranda Tyler 6'1 Grafton - mostly just tall, will not be an impact player til jr year, if at all
Jenna Pitt 5'8 Amherst - haven't seen her
Christie Struck 5'6 Weyauwega-Fremont - she is a VERY good guard.  awesome playmaker.  too bad about those concussions, i wasn't aware of that.
Alyssa Olp 5'9 Brillion - good ball-handler, phenomonal passer, but has a horrible outside shot.  can't see her getting much playing time until she develops a shot.

Good work everyone.
Any word frow Whitewater BW?
From memory it seems La Crosse and Eau Claire usually do announcements but not for another month yet.
It'll be interesting to see who Oshkosh gets as well. I had heard the Oostburg girl Raeder might be headed that way.

Been trying to follow the coaching searches on the men's and women's side but neither local newspaper has anything on their website; although I technically never found a website for a Platteville newspaper.

Good start though

EC Leader came out with their annual All-Northwest team in this past weekend Sunday paper.

Sami Schroeder (Durand) to Stout.  ALL NW POY

Kassia Anderson (Fall Creek) to UWEC. 2nd Team All Northwest

Myranda Tyler- 6'1 and moves well, so any a team like SP will be able to use that big body when their posts get in foul trouble.  I didn't think Plendl would be a good player after seeing her once last year, but she really turned into something special.  Don't mean to compare the two, but you can't teach size.

Jenna Pitt-Made the game winning shot in the D3 State Finals two years ago and I heard that she was getting looks from a couple D2 schools.  She hurt her knee in October I believe, so she should be healthy or close to it by this October.  Shes a good guard.

Alyssa Olp-This girl took her team to State.  Really tough guard that drives well.  I see her playing right away.  SP already has a pretty good PG, so Olp should be a solid back up.  On a team that is loaded with talent, how many 3s is she going to have make?

Christie Struck- Really good player, but we'll see if she can make the team.

Any word on the UWP coach search?  The deadline was April 5.  I'm sure they're done interviewing by now.  I heard of a few very good, young, WIAC alumni candidates that applied.  I think it'd be great to get a WIAC alum in the position.

I thought they'd get a better group of finalists to be honest.

I was just told Fischer from Parkside withdrew.

So I guess there's 4 names to choose from.

From UWP's website,

Posted April 29, 2010

UW-Platteville will introduce its new women's basketball coach and physical education lecturer at a press conference Friday at 2 p.m. in the Platteville East and West Rooms in the Pioneer Student Center.

Just Bill

It will be former UWSP player and assistant coach Megan Wilson! Congrats Megan!

Can't wait to see hoopsjunkie's thoughts on this.

Honestly, I'm really surprised this was the best they can do. Nothing to do with who it is ... just not often a school in a top conference hires someone with just 2 years experience who wasn't even in coaching the year before.

I hope she does well but in a league like this with the considerable hole that has been dug there; Platteville might have a hard time clawing out.

She was at UWSP for four years if that makes you feel better. She wasn't in coaching last year because her husband got a job opportunity and there wasn't anything open at the right time.  Stuff happens.

UWP got the right person for this job.

Anyone who played for legendary coach Shirley Egner and was an assistant coach under her is certainly qualified.  She will turn the program around within the next 2-3 years.  They had a few good players last year but I don't remember if they were seniors or underclassmen.

I have two questions that I would like to open up to the general populatioin on this board that strongly follows the teams in the WIAC!

1) Which coach would you consider that is a strong advocate of a strong defensive style of game?

2) Which coach would you consider that plays the most disciplined/structured style of game?

I appreciate any feedback, as I am not familiar with the WIAC!
