So last week, UWSP had lost to Milikin and they fell from 6th to 8th.  Seems reasonable.

This week, they went 2-0 and fell from 8th to 18th??  What am I missing?

I think D3Hoops/Point/RF had the result of the RF game incorrect earlier this week.  I bet the voting was done based on Point losing to RF.

That is exactly what happened.

Pretty big flub up.  I am not sure why they didn't re-vote.  I would expect the voters to make this right next week if they have another 2-0 week.  The rankings looked much more accurate for Stevens Point at least in the USA Today poll.  http://www.wbca.org/blog/index.cfm/2010/12/7/20102011-Week-3-DIII-Poll/

That said, big one tonight in WW.  No disrespect to any other conference teams, but up to this point of the season they have been the two best teams. Should be a great game.

We didn't revote because putting together a Top 25 is not something that is done at the drop of a hat. Between my full-time day job and all the other sites we're trying to publish this time of year, I barely have time to do the bare minimum.

I send out scores to all of the voters each week and if 1) a school posts the score on our site incorrectly and 2) nobody, including the conference's voting representative says anything about it until after the fact, there's not much I can do.

We will definitely make sure all of the voters know to wipe that result from their brains next week.

I figured I'd better come here and face the music, however. Sorry. I had no reason to doubt the scores reported to us.

If that is the biggest mistake you have this year, then you'll have had a very good year.

Oh I don't know.... People get pretty heated about their D3 Women's basketball around here.  Especially when the topic is Stout or all time WIAC players! ;D

Playful jabbing aside.  I am nervous about this matchup with Stout tonight.  UWL is banged up and Stout is still Stout.  Something tells me they will bring their A game tonight at home.

RF defeats UWEC, 65-64 in a thrilling matchup at Zorn.  The largest lead was 6 points the whole game.  Mesick missed a heavily guarded 15 foot jumper at the buzzer that spun around the rim and fell out.

Good games from Rempert (EC) & Guhr (RF).

EC peritmeter defense by the posts got exposed tonight.  Late in the game RF drove by them constantly for buckets/fouls.  Maybe time to go back to the zone, for at least some of the time anyway.

T. Gregorich (RF) & Olson (EC) both sat out with injuries.

Just a few days ago I was thinking that EC COULD jump out to a 4-0 lead in conference play.  They had 3  straight coming up at home and had just defeated UWO fairly easy on the road.  Now they sit at 1-2 with 2 straight loses at home.  They have really dug themselves a hole.  Going to have to win some games on the road against tough teams if they want to get back in the conference race.

Other scores:

Point gets a big road win, 83-69, over UWW.

UWO with a road win of their own, 62-47, over UWP

And UWL also with a road win, 75-54, over Stout

Four road wins tonight.  Don't see that very often.

Good win for your squad last night.  Stout is a developing team (I sincerely hope) starting the conference season with a brutal schedule.  UWL "owns" Stout at Johnson Fieldhouse (if you only go back 2 games).  Hoping to get you back when we play on the road... ;)

UWL was sinking their baskets (31 of 58), Stout was not nearly as efficient (19 of 55).  I thought our nemesis Melissa Lang was off last night when she went 0 - 4 on her 3 point attempts to start the game.  Of course, she managed to get back on track and was 3 for 3 after that... >:(

Buff - you are exactly right on the EC defense. That cost them the game and also got them against LAX. It was a barn-burner of a game. Tought EC might pull it out - but no. Also love Christiansen's intensity but it got away from her several times. I would have gone with Bingea on a jumper for the win but can't argue against going to Messick. Finally, Plendil has not been doing much offemsively. Her defense remains good. Wonder if Laura Olson's absence hurt EC the last two games. If there is a game tomorrow (major snow coming), EC should have no problem with Stout - you never know thoug

I definitely agree with the thought about Plendl.  She hit two shots from just inside the free throw line to start the game vs. LAX and I thought to myself it was going to be a long night if she is scoring like that.  She didn't do much after that.  I think if she shot a bit more it would definitely help the rest of the team.  Even if she's shooting a low % by her putting up a few shots she will take a bit of the pressure off Christiansen and Messick.  She's shooting 51% but only putting up about 5 shots a game.

Point loses to IWU, 76-72.  Difference was FTs.  Point (12-22), IWU (18-19)

UWO defeats RF, 61-52.

The WARHAWKS got the win in Superior.  I'm not sure of the exact score but it was by 13-15 points.

Try again Badger.  Actually it was 11 points 87-76.

The WARHAWKS scored first and never trailed in the game building the lead to 22 points at the end of the first half 57-35.  The lead grew to a high of 26 points 67-33 in the first six minutes of the second half.  Superior got hot and made a run cutting it to a low of 10 points over the next ten minutes but that was as close as they would get.

Emily Bestor led the WARHAWKS with 19 points including 5-6 from beyond the arc.  Dana Thompson chipped in a double-double with 14 points and rebounds.  Jamie Swanson also had double figure points with 11.  The WARHAWKS had 19 assists on 28 baskets with Kaitlyn Thill leading the way with 6.  Thill also added a pair of steals bringing her conference leading total to 45.  The WARHAWKS out rebounded Superior 43-34 including a 21-12 advantage on the offensive end.

Conference Standings Through Dec 11:
SP      3-0
WW      3-1
LX      3-1
Osh      2-1
RF      2-2
EC      1-2
Platt      1-2
Sup      0-3
Stout      0-3

Couple surprises are Stout being 0-3, RF being only 2-2 and EC being 1-2.

Also, what is happening at LX with Lindsey Litrenta?  She hasn't played in the last two games and is a very strong player for the Eagles.  Hope it is nothing serious as they don't appear to be all that deep after the starting five.
