EC defeats RF, 45-32.  Both teams shot awful...EC at 30%, RF at 18%.

Point crushes Stout in the 2nd half and goes on to win 86-50.

Yikes. If you got 78 points for EC-RF and bet the "over", you lost.

UWL gets a come-from-behind win at UWW, 73-66.

UWO over UWP, 78-67

PRF2009A

UWL gets the win they needed at Whitewater tonight.  They went 28-33 from the free throw line to win 73-66.  Wow.

All of a sudden UWLs collective season looks pretty solid.

4 of 5 losses to teams in the top 25 or receiving votes.
Wins over #11 WW and #12 Chicago.

Hopefully they can keep the momentum going into the playoffs.

Good work Eagles! Nice win
Without doing ANY legwork I feel like they've been relatively successful in that gym; maybe moreso than they have at home vs. WW?

The difference in the UWL UWW game was freethrows and rebounding. 15 - 3 offensive rebounding edge for UWL was huge, as UWW shot better than UWL. 48% - 39% FG and 50% - 28% 3pt.

The WARHAWKS started the game with 5-0 run but LaCrosse answered with a 9-0 run of their own.  An 11-0 run by the WARHAWKS put them in front 16-9.  LaCrosse came back to tie the score four times after that including the conclusion of the half at 28-28.  LaCrosse was strong on their offensive board with 11 first half offensive rebounds, Franke had 8 of them, though the WARHAWKS shot better,  44% to 32%, to keep the game tied.  The second half was a string of runs by both teams.  WHITEWATER went first with a 11-2 run and a 39-20 lead.  LaCrosse went on a 7-0 run to get within a pair and the WARHAWKS responded with a 7-0 run of their own and a 46-37 advantage.  LaCrosse's turn to answer saw them go 10-2 and pull with a single point 48-47 with a little less than six and half minutes to play.  The WARHAWKS went back up 51-47 but after that it was LaCrosse who ran off a 16-2 spurt to go up by ten points 63-53 with a minute and half to play.  Their lead was never less than seven points after that as the Eagle's went 14 for 14 from the free throw line.  It was a frustrating loss.  We controlled most of the game only to falter down the stretch.  But credit LaCrosse they never let things get out of hand and made plays down the stretch when it counted.

Taylor Larson played better than I've ever seen her play leading all scorers with 20 points including 7-7 from the free line down the stretch.

Dana Thompson paced the WARHAWKS 17 points and had a game high 5 steals.  Chantel Burg had 14 points and a team high 7 rebounds.

Hannah Mesick's clutch basket with 3 seconds lifted EC to a much needed home victory over UWP, 46-45.  Terrible shooting outside the paint led to a small deficit for much of the game for EC.  EC then went on a late 14-0 run to take a 44-37 lead with 5 minutes to go.  UWP countered with a 8-0 run to take a one point lead setting the stage for Mesick's late bucket.

Interesting, RF so ineffective against EC but turns around and takes WW. WW in a bit of a slump. EC needs to get some mojo going. Seem very tentative and slow. Lucky they took Plateville, real lucky. WIAC is getting interesting but atlast! can anyone take point in the tourney?

Alumni Day at Stout

Yesterday was the annual Alumni Game/Day at Johnson Fieldhouse.  At 10:00 AM - the group of former players donned their old uniforms and went out on the hardwood to "strut their stuff".  It was great to see these ladies again!  And many of them still looked to be in great BB form - at least offensively - with over 150 points being scored... ;D

And to honor the former players - the current Stout players presented their predecessors with a much needed "W" last night!!!

It was an up and down first half for the Blue Devils.

Stout started strong with a 5 - 0 run, and held a lead for about 5 minutes and with 8 minutes to go in the first have Stout trailed by only 1 point.  But then UWO turned up the heat and went on a 16 - 5 run to close out the half.  However - the final ponts scored in the first half was a buzzer beating jumper by Amy Van Hulzen to narrow the deficit to 12 points.

Was that the momentum changer?  Maybe...  Because in the second half it was a whole new ballgame.  In the first 5 minutes - tougher defense by Stout narrowed the deficit to 8 points.  With 10 minutes left the deficit was still 8 points.

Then things changed.  The "tougher" defense became even tougher.  Stout closed the game out with a 21 - 5 run and never looked back... ;D

Leading the comeback was Freshman Sami Shoeder from Durand - shooting 4 - 5 from the field (2 for 2 from 3 pont range) and 9 of 10 from the charity stripe.

In the first half - UWO domintaed the boards with a 23 - 15 advantage.  The second half, Stout returned the favor with a 19 - 12 advantage.

It's been a rough year being a Stout fan.  For the first time since the 1988 - 89 season, the Coach T led squad has had a losing season.  21 straight winning seasons!

Hopefully, the win last night will be the start of wining regularly again for the "Runnin' Lady Vlue Devils"... ;)

RF scored first but the WARHAWKS quickly took the lead and built to a high of ten points, 31-21, with a little over two minutes remaining before the Falcons cut it down to four points, 33-29, when the half ended.  RF took the lead early in the second half building it to a high of seven points, 54-47, with about nine and half minutes to play and holding it in the 4-6 point range until the WARHAWKS tied it 63-63 with :48 to play.  The WARHAWKS had two chances to win in regulation but a missed free throw and missed jump shot took the teams to overtime.  The WARHAWKS either led or were tied for the bulk of the overtime.  However after the two teams were tied for the seventh time 69-69 with 1:16 to play a WARHAWK turnover on a foul opened the door for the Falcons who got a layup to go ahead and after another WARHAWK foul got a huge offensive rebound and pair of free throws to create the final score 73-69.

Mary Merg and Megan Theune led the WARHAWKS with 12 points apiece.  Kaitlyn Thill also score in double figures with 10 points and had a game high 4 steals.  The Falcons did a good job controlling Dana Thompson as she finished with only 7 points and took only 7 shots.

Taylor House had 19 points to lead four Falcon players who finished in double figures scoring.

The ugliest stat of the game:  Rebounds....Falcons 53, WARHAWKS 31.   Ouch!

With Platteville coming to the Williams Center Wednesday night I'm hoping we can get back on track.  We may have just played our way into third place.

EC vs SP.
You-turna-the-balla-over 21 times. You-a-lose. Hope the EC team loses the habit for next year. Bet they do not. Player speed is a real issue with EC.
Nice to see LAX with high rank. SP has a shot at national championshhip - a shot.
