Their margin of victory gets larger with each successive meeting.  Congrats to the Pointers.  With a couple of exceptions nobody in the league gave them much of a problem.  The WARHAWKS shoot a god awful 24.5% from the floor.   Tompson manages a double-double 18 and 11.  So did Britta Petersen and Ashley Averkamp.

So, who gets into the tournament?  My guess is for sure UWSP, pretty sure UWW, and I think UWL would have a pretty good shot on the strength of them being ranked 4th in the last Central Region rankings.  That would be a lot of WIAC teams making it, though.

Well Stevens Point is a lock.

It would be a huge mistake not putting Whitewater in.  21-6 record overall, not sure of in-region, but really good wins vs. Calvin, George Fox and Illinois Wesleyan.

I don't think La Crosse gets in. Two good wins vs. Whitewater and Chicago.  Other than that nothing really good.  Losses against other NCAA teams in SP (0-2), Coe, Chapman (most likely a tournament team).

La Crosse knew this was their year, they should have scheduled a better schedule.  Luther, Ripon, Edgewood, and Viterbo doesn't really help a team this time of year.

I have to completely disagree with the comment regarding UWL's schedule.  8 of their 27 games were vs. likely tournament teams.  That's about 30%.  Without looking at all I can't imagine that there are 15 teams in the nation that could match/beat that stat.  (2 of them would be Point & WW I would imagine)

A win or two more vs. that competition is where UWL came up short.  Specifically looking back the game at Point, Coe, and Chapman were the ones they let get away.

I would love to see UWL make the tourney as I think they could play with the best aftter getting beat around in the WIAC all year and giving out their share of beatings too.

Regardless of whether they get in the tourney or not, this UWL team has nothing to be dissapointed about.  They were an extremely talented group and a lot of fun to watch/follow this year.

I'll be surprised if LaCrosse isn't in the field.

LaCrosse should be in, they deserve to be there and for anyone that posts they had an easy schedule look at their regional ranking and strength of schedule...on D3 Hoops site.
Best of luck to everyone that's on the bubble as we can all make a case as to why we should be in.

Thanks for climbing out on the limb for us. I'm also pretty certain the team with automatic bid will get in.

I think both UWW and UWL will make it. I execpt UWSP to host and either UWL or UWW to travel down to Illinois Wesleyan.  No idea where the other one ends up.

Regional Ranking and SOS does not mean they played a tough non-conference schedule.  SOS could reflect on how tough the WIAC really is.  The WIAC conference was really good against non-conference teams this year as a whole and this could really help their SOS.  I just think they first 5-6 games for a veteran team like they are left a bit to be desired.

Other than Chicago in November, (Chicago was then really struggling as the Lakeland loss is proof enough)  and Whitewater in February, they really don't have the great resume building wins.  You could possibly say Occidental, who won their conference tournament with a 19-8 overall record as well, but they haven't got a sniff in the West Regional Rankings.

They have good losses vs Coe, Chapman, WW, and two vs SP.  But these are losses just the same.

La Crosse passes the eye ball test for the most part.  The only problem is this is not always about picking the best 20 pool C teams.  I don't know if that resume is good enough.

TellItLikeItis

Your ending sentence needs clarification as I TellitLikeItis and if you want to have my words reflect on others that's on you my friend and no one else. I won't judge other fans based on your words/posts.  Your comment...Coaches don't pick player of the week; the conference office/SID does.  Really, here's a copy of an email response on that direct question from Matthew Stanek of the WIAC

From: Matthew Stanek
Date: 01/27/11 10:22:54
Cc: Gary Karner
Subject: WIAC Athlete of the Week

Dave,

This note is in response to the email you submitted to WIAC Commissioner Gary Karner regarding WIAC women's basketball athlete of the week selections.   Athlete of Week nominations in women's basketball are taken from each institution on Monday of each week.  The nominees are then distributed to the head coaches via email to be voted upon and a vote is returned to the conference office by Tuesday morning.
I can tell you from personal experience of having picked the Athletes of the Week in our 21 conference sports for almost 12 years that it is a very difficult process each and every week.

Thank you for your support of the WIAC.

Matt

Why are the coaches asked to vote for a player if they don't pick them as you posted? Should I judge you and all your fans based on your misinformation on your post? Can we trust any information you post as factual? Enjoy your freedom of speech and posting to this site but please don't judge the UWL fans based on my words...that would be very short sighted on your part.

I have no problem saying I'm wrong. I knew he picked them for other sports as I follow some others fairly closely; I wasn't aware women's basketball is the one sport he didn't pick. i wrongly assumed and will most definitely eat the crow on that. Doesn't change my point; if you think it's a coach's bias against Frank you're delusional. Like I said, I've heard three head coaches say how good Danielle Frank is. Guess the other 5 must have been colluding against her. And I think she's GREAT, so don't try to accuse me of going on some attack of her. I think she's a very good choice for PotY

I've made enough factual, non-offensive, discussion creating posts in my time here that I have no problem admiting I was wrong on this one. I think those that have been on the site for awhile will forgive this mistake and still take me seriously as a poster.

I don't have a "team" per se ... I'm a fan of this league and women's basketball in Wisconsin and Illinois. It's obvious you have a strong bias towards a team, and if you're complaining about player of the week it appears you have one for a player as well.

Reality is if you go on a message board and demean and insult people and other schools as you did Whitewater, it indirectly reflects on the team you support. Do I think less of PRF when you come on here and berate posters, players, or officials? No. But if I'm a La Crosse fan the last thing I'd like to see on here is a fellow La Crosse fan being a jag. If you're at a gym and there's one loudmouth in the stands that never shuts up some people leave saying, "Man (insert school name here)'s fans are really bad."

But if you're looking to pick a fight I'm waiting to hear your response to the rest of my post when you call for class then post like you do? As BW said there's an old cliche that directly applies here.

Great breakdown. I think they'll get in, but you're right; they played the schedule but didn't necessarily get that big win they needed. Although it seems few teams they're lined up against would have a win as good as @WW.

Hoping for 3 and hoping for 3 different venues to follow.

Viterbo is the only game they have that doesn't count? Correct?

d3hoops is projecting that both UWW and UWL get pool C bids, and rather comfortably.  They had UWW as the 3rd Pool C and UWL as the 8th (out of 20).

Looks like D3 is saying La Crosse is in and I doubt that they will drop from 8th team in to out of the picture completely.  I can admit I was wrong.  I know tellitlikeitis just opened a champagne bottle or something :) ha.

Just Bill, if you didn't notice I said "for sure UWSP", way to make a new poster feel welcome.
